How was Cambodia created?
In response to a Japanese request, Norodom Sihanouk (young king) declared an independent kingdom of Kampuchea. It was 9 March 1945. Shortly after, the Japanese government nominally accepted the independence of Cambodia. They also established a consulate to Phnom Penh.
