The 19205 were a time of dramatic social and political change. The economy was booming, more people lived in urban areas than rural, changes in music styles, and the nationwide spread of businesses, Women all over the nation were “freer” now and less discriminated against. They could finally vote, work atjobs that only men would be able to work in, and even have the choice of birth control, The 20s started mass consumerism as businesses started to expand. This allowed for more chain stores to be built all over the country, which resulted in people buying the same products. People were able to afford things such as, radios, nice clothes, refrigerators, and even cars. This period saw a big change in music aka the “Jazz Age.” People loved music, everyone loved to dance, radios were owned by millions, and records and phonographs were extremely popular.

But this was also the time of Prohibition, where the government banned alcohol. This led to black markets and illegal businesses selling alcohol. Along with all these changes comes the Harlem Renaissance, The Harlem Renaissance was the start of a big change in racial progress African Americans starting writing and creating art to celebrate being black; they felt like they could do anything This was a time for blacks to voice their opinions without discrimination, for them to be proud of being black. One way they used to voice their freedom was by making Jazz, which many people enjoyed there were black actors, singers, musicians, artists, poets, and writers. The Harlem Renaissance changed the way how, not just the country, the world viewed African Americans Women were freer now than in the past they were able to make their own decisions concerning childbirth.

Because of this, the 19205 resulted in a decreased bitthrate, Women suffrage was also eliminated, allowing women to finally vote. Although not everything is perfect. With the rise of black freedom, racial and social progress, there will always be people who will object to this. People didn’t like the large number of immigrants moving to America; those who weren’t horn in the US were treated terribly. Beatings occurred and laws were made to limit the number of immigrants allowed into the country years The National Origins Act limited the annual amount of immigrants to 150,000. There was also a movement involving eugenics. People used genetics to try to remove undesirable traits from a race in order to create a perfect human race, Not only that, laws were introduced that sterilized anyone who the government considered mentally ill. These events led to a significant increase in racism and a boost in growth of the Klu Klux Klan Klan members started sprouting all over the nation and were even involved with politics.

African Americans were lynched, violence arose, and whippings, and tar-and—feathering occurred often. There was discrimination against Jews, Italians, Asians, Indians, and Mexicans Like in the past, the US dislikes immigrants and enforces laws that either discriminate them, limit the amount that can come into the country, or both. The “Roaring Twenties” were a time of dramatic change in America. African Americans were able to voice their opinions, women were given the right to vote, and music started to become extremely popular. Though with all this progress being made so quickly, there will always be people who wants to stop it Laws were created that limited immigration, the Klu Klux Klan became big, racism was still around, and discrimination still remained rampant, this continues to display how America takes one step forward, but two steps back
