It is a great privilege to be one of the students given the opportunity to be in the National Honor Society. To tell the truth, I have been looking forward to this moment since I graduated as a member of Arista in middle school. The invitation shows that my hard work and endeavor to be one of the top students in school was worth the try.

My grade has always been an essential component in achieving my goal of being, if not the best but one of the very best among my peers. Last school year, I had a GPA of 3.92 (95.26% average) and an average of 98% last semester, I am proud of this average and also strive to improve more especially if I want to be in NHS and the nursing program. I also plan to earn the Advanced Regents Diploma and I already completed most of the requirements to earn it.

Although I don't really have a sport team, I am a choir member at church. Being in my church choir has taught me four things. These things are teamwork, hard work, respect and leadership. My church is a branch church so I sometimes travel to different places for conventions, meetings and several programs. To be in a choir, you have to be able to lead the church and the choir group in songs and others. In meetings, we discuss many things like how to host programs where we invite people to participate in many different activities. The church is like a family to me, so learn to appreciate and respect them.

Also in my former middle school in Nigeria before I transferred to the one here, I participated in several activities like cleaning up the school, helping to serve food and the inter house sport. My service, my leadership, my character and scholarship are thing that drive me to be better at what I do. And to be better at what I do, I need to work harder. An admission into the National Honor Society would indeed be a privilege to be proud of for the rest of my life.

Of all the most important NHS qualities, such as Character, Leadership, or Service, it is to my reasoning that Scholarship is the most significant and essential. I cannot stress the importance of education, not only in society, but in myself. I, in my own opinion, do not have much of a social life. When I'm not in school or finishing my homework, I enjoy occupying myself with mentally stimulating interests. These would include word puzzles, chess, educational websites, science experiments, and, most importantly, reading. One of my favorite pastimes is going to the library. I love checking out their books and learning new things. My room is filled with my own books along with assorted science equipment. I feel it really suits me.

Perhaps the reason for my interests in education is due to my competitive nature with my brother. He is more physically capable than me, so I try to draw a proverbial line between brains and brawn. As I previously stated, I am constantly exercising my mind. My ultimate High School goal is to get straight A's on my report card. Through my grades, I hope that I will stand out in the eyes of the better colleges. I can't imagine that these colleges would base one's enrollment on popularity or sport achievements. Not that I, myself, do not participate in any extracurricular activities. I am currently involved with DECA, FIRST robotics, and both the math and chess clubs. I like these clubs because they promote education to others with the allure of fun and reward (not that I promote deception). This turns me back to the subject of scholarship in society. Because it is not proportional, the diversity of the students' education is one of the main attributes of NHS member selection. Therefore, it is in my favor that I try my best to excel in this area.
