An apartment (American English), or flat (British English, Indian English, South African English), is a self-contained housing unit (a type of residential real estate) that occupies part of a building, generally on a single story. There are many names for these overall buildings, see below.

Frequently asked questions

What is apartment description?
An apartment description is a brief summary of an apartment complex or rental unit that includes the most important information about the unit. This information may include the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, the square footage, the monthly rent price, and any special features or amenities that are included in the unit.
Why do people like living in apartments?
For one, apartments are usually more affordable than houses, especially in big cities. They also tend to require less maintenance and upkeep than houses, since the building's management is typically responsible for taking care of things like repairs, painting, and landscaping. Additionally, apartments are often located in desirable areas, like close to downtown or in a quiet residential neighborhood. And, for people who don't like yard work or don't have a lot of extra time, not having a yard can be a big plus.
What is the use of apartment?
An apartment (American English), or flat (British English, Indian English), is a self-contained housing unit (a type of residential real estate) that occupies only part of a building, generally on a single story. There are many names for these overall buildings, see below. The housing tenure of apartments also varies considerably, from large-scale public housing, to owner occupancy within what is legally a condominium (strata title or commonhold), to tenants renting from a private landlord (see leasehold estate). In some parts of the world, the word apartment refers to a new purpose-built self-contained residential unit in a building, whereas the word flat means a converted self-contained unit in an older building. An industrial, warehouse, or commercial space converted to an apartment is commonly called a loft, although some modern lofts are built by design. An apartment complex or block of apartments is called a block of flats, tower block, high-rise or, occasionally mansion block (in British English), especially if it consists of many apartments for rent. A high-rise apartment building is commonly referred to as a residential tower, apartment tower, or block of flats in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and the United Kingdom. A high-rise building is often defined by its height differently in various jurisdictions. It may be only residential, in which case it might be called a tower block, or it might include other functions such as hotel, offices, or shops.
What are the most important features of an apartment?
Firstly, you want to make sure the apartment is in a safe neighbourhood. Secondly, you want to check that the apartment is in a good condition and that all the amenities are in working order. Finally, you want to make sure the rent is affordable and that the lease terms are favourable.
