In considering our marketing and sales employees, I would work out a more effective way of compensating them that will save on our labor. The first change I would make would be to give my marketing and sales employees a commission based salary, rather than an hourly based wage. I will make my sales and marketing team independent contractors, and pay only based on sales. I think that by instituting a commission based incentive program, I will motivate my marketing and sales employees; furthermore, I would only pay them on an as needed basis, which will help with my overall employee labor costs.
I will also use this new commission based incentive program to keep only those sales and marketing employees that meet a certain quota of sales, which will in effect, eliminate those who are not producing enough. In accomplishing these things, I will effectively reduce costs, and reward those employees that have met the monthly sales quota.
