Operational efficiency is the process by which organizations can achieve improved productions without incurring additional losses. Operational effectiveness in organizations involves developing strategic plans to achieve a continuous improvement in quality productions over long periods (Martin, 2007). Quality in organizations requires operational efficiency and effectiveness. Organization quality is achieved when employee and customer satisfaction is continuously achieved. Quality requires standardization or quality measures upon which quality can be measured.

This differs from one country or region to the next depending on the consultants and government contracts (Straker, 2007). Operational Efficiency Due to increasing competitions in the markets worldwide, businesses are required to promote operational efficiency to remain competitive especially small businesses that are mostly faced with resource inadequacies (Martin, 2007). There are factors that can be considered to enhance operational efficiency such as technology to reduce costs, improve competition and customer satisfaction through networking or integrating operations.

There are various ways through which network technologies can be used to improve efficiency. First, a good communication system that allows a free access to information throughout the organization. An organization is supposed to have a fast and highly reliable communication system to ensure high-level information security and availability. Network security and reliability can be achieved networking using secure devices such as intelligent switches and routers that will also enhance advancing in technology to facilitate communication through internet protocol. Read about online enrollment system proposal

Second, remote access and communication with the members of the organization. For a success or continuous development of an organization especially the small or developing organizations, a remote access is paramount to reach the workers anywhere. Virtual private networks and wireless access can be used to offer secure and reliable access to all workers in irrespective of their geographical differences (Martin, 2007).

Wireless access or virtual private networks can be used to allow remote working and local or central management leading to reduced production costs. Virtually connected organizations will achieve remote access or management to save on time or costs required to travel to monitor such operations. Third, integrated business process to easily involve the stakeholders. In large organizations, communication efficiency and safety is a prerequisite for a success in the business.

An organization has therefore to develop a reliable and secure communication infrastructure that is easily accessible with the stakeholders to allow for maximum participation in the business processes (Russell, 2007). Forth, technology can be used to improve operational efficiency through collaboration amongst stakeholders in a cost effective way. Integrated systems such as video, voice and data systems can be used to provide teleconferencing or videoconferencing and information protocol communications (Martin, 2007).
