While at the ATLAS leadership kick off I took a True Colors personality test. The color I received as a result of the test was Green. People with the green personality traits measure their own progress by actively keeping busy. As a result the results they want fall into place. A person with a green personality must be allowed to work at his/her own pace and not be “on a hook”. Being “on a hook” refers to being concerned or pressured to get something done. Someone who has a green personality will ask technical questions to further clarify topics and understand them clearer. An example of this would include questions like; How do we get there?
What time does it start? An individual with a green personality hates to look wrong or bad in the public eye and hates getting caught without data. This person also needs to be given some methods of how to deal with other people. If they are given time lines this will help them move along. A functional personal with a green personality will respond by giving task endorsement and minimizing interpersonal problems. They will also stabilize situations and provide safety and continuity.

Taking this personality test has helped me realize how I work and how I can use my true color to help me get ahead in my academic and career goals. When I am in school I am always doing something. Whether it is extracurriculars or schoolwork I am never sitting around. I will now plan my day out hour by hour. I leave a time slot for homework so I can sit down and focus on it. I will get schoolwork done early so I do not feel pressured or concerned about having to get it done last minute. This will leave more room for success just incase I have to go back and make changes. Whenever I get a new assignment I will ask for the due date and where I should turn it in. Asking these technical questions will let me be more organized so I do not forget information. This is so I do not look bad for being late on an assignment. Being late for an assignment would make me look bad to the public eye.
Utilizing my true color to help me with my future career goals can be beneficial to me in countless ways. I would like to start off as a local patrol officer in law enforcement. After a few years in patrol I would like to transfer to a federal law enforcement agency. I would like to work for the US Marshals Service Regional Task Force in NY/NJ. The US Marshals Regional Task Force is a group consisting of elite U.S. Marshal agents and law enforcement officers. They execute high-risk warrants and track the United States’ most wanted fugitives. Flaving a green personality will help me ask technical questions when I am interviewing a suspect or a victim of a crime to clarify what happened during the incident. I will get better at how to deal with people because that’s all officers do all day is talk to people.
As a law enforcement officer I will never look wrong or bad to the public eye. Before going on patrol I will make sure I have all my equipment and that my uniform looks squared away. During roll call I will make sure I get all the information I need for the day and write them down so that I not caught without data. In the past I have not had a problem dealing with extreme stress and pressure while at the scene of an emergency. As a Firefighter/EMT I have been faced with many stressful calls where I had to make complex decisions in a matter of seconds. With a green personality this has helped me take a step back, take a breath, and get the job done. This skill will also help me with local and federal law enforcement work because U.S. Marshal agents and police officers have to make split second decisions and get the job done. Sometime back up is non-existent and they have to deal with situations alone.
