Five high school students from different walks of life endure a Saturday detention under a power-hungry principal (Paul Gleason). They each have a chance to tell their story of how the landed up in detention the breakfast club was written by Tom Hughes and the monologue that I will be performing is performed by a character named Andrew. In this monologue, an informal tone is used. Throughout the whole play, the tones were changing and the monologue has an unequal tone. The second paragraph as well as the third one is portrayed by a sad tone the monologue is summed up to an emotional tone that gives feeling to the whole monologue as a whole and also helps the reader or the person performing the monologue to understand the character from an emotional point of view, I specifically liked this monologue after selecting it, thus because when I read it, I felt a connection with the character and in the monologue and also because of the emotion in the monologue.

What would I do if I was in detention? I would get angry and throw a tantrum, but the character: Andy, in these situations is very calm and collected but also becomes emotional at explaining the reason why he is in detention, I would not be emotional, and instead, I would lose emotion at that time What would I do if I taped someone’s buns (buttocks) together? I would get emotional at this stage at realizing how I had shamed and embarrassed the other person whose buns I would have taped together. The information that am given about Mandy and the current situation is that he is in detention and he is getting emotional as he explains how he felt. In this monologue, there is no subtext and I also do not use any emotional recall in my preparation. This monologue was my first monologue and it was enjoyable but very time-consuming, this project took up most of my time and I found it to be a great learning experience as well as huge time-consuming assignment. At first I thought that it was not going to be fun, but as I started doing the project, I got more and more interested in researching the the film of my monologue.
