Imperialism is the domination over an undeveloped country socially, politically, and economically. Imperialism affected many countries. For example, China, India, Africa, and South America were all affected by imperialism. Causes of imperialism are nationalistic motives, military motives, economic motives, and missionary motives. The Industrial revolution developed new ways of communication like the telegraph and the telephone. It also helped means of transportation with providing planes, cars, and trains. The Industrial Revolution helped provide many colonies with factories to provide themselves with raw materials.

Ship owners demanded coaling stations for their ships and naval bases for protection. The most powerful business groups were the bankers. Banks made loans to colonies and backward countries for building railways and steamship lines. The American factories were also making more than the American people can use. The soil is producing more goods than consumers need. This forces them to start establishing trading posts throughout the world. This helped America make more money by selling the products that they did not need. One main cause of imperialism was the Industrial Revolution.

A second cause of the New Imperialism according to economic, political, and social forces was the improvement of trade. Because of the large amount of supplies that American factories and land were producing the Americans established trading posts around the globe. Many colonies desperately needed natural resources to keep their factories working such as rubber, petroleum, manganese for steel, and palm oil for machinery. If the colonies did not have access to these products they had to rely on the trading posts. Many banks also sought ventures in for parts of the world in which to invest their profits.

A second cause of the New Imperialism was trading. A third cause of the New Imperialism due to economic, political, and social forces was military conditions. During this time many people were against the French with their weapons of war. The French vanquished their commanders. The French also had warships filled with soldiers and huge cannons. During this time the French army could travel and Just about take over any place they wanted to because everyone was afraid of their powerful military. This also allowed the French to collect more colonies. This meant the more colonies they had the more natural resources they could use.

Military motives were linked to nationalism. Since the French military was a way to promote a nations goal. Colonies were needed to use as bases to re-supply ships. Military conditions was a cause of the New Imperialism. Imperialism began in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century due to economic, political, and social forces. For example, the Industrial Revolution, trade, and military conditions all contributed to the cause of the New Imperialism. The Industrial Revolution gave colonies the opportunities to come up with new ways of communication like the telegraph and the telephone.

Vehicles, planes and, trains eloped means of transportation. The American factories were making more goods than consumers needed so trading posts were established around the world. Trade contributed to the cause of the New Imperialism because it allowed colonies with no natural resources to trade for and buy them from other countries. This helped other countries to make profits. Military condition would determine how many colonies you had. The more colonies a country had the more natural resource a country had. This helped countries become more industrialized and sometimes it would help countries build up even more powerful armies.
