On the most basic level, my life has meaning because it has an end. This aligns with the ideas Frankl formed in his novel. Death is a grand finale. The time up to that is the play, and I want to make my play worth watching. I have an eternity to be dead, but this is the only time I can do things - not necessarily world-altering things -just things. Things that will make me happy while I can feel happiness The experiences that one can’t experience in a cold, hard grave. Also, this does not mean I fear death or feel an impending doom or obligation to make my life the greatest one anyone‘s ever lived. It just has to be the best life I could have lived. Being hung up over feelings of inadequacy are useless.

In fact, the idea of death is enjoyable. I wouldn‘t want to live this life forever, nor do I wish to live another. That doesn’t mean I’m suicidal, though. Even if I go through times of depression, who knows what twists are ahead. This is where Druids may disagree because they believe in reincarnation They might not see the finality of death like I do. Even if they reincarnate as an animal or a plant, it‘s another life they get to fulfill. The selfish side of my philosophy is also apparent. I want to live my life to the fullest, so I don’t make room for others. This is a contrast from Frankl‘s view on suffering and giving. I am not guilted by the things I haven‘t done for others. I do not plan on being a martyr. That‘s not to say I am inherently, or intentionally, going to degrade others’ lives to upgrade mine.

I have no sadistic intentions, but I realize it‘s my life to live and ultimately any decisions I make should be entire because I felt it was the right one. I don’t go out of my way in terms of charity or generosity. They can absolutely be fulfilling and bring on feelings of happiness, like Frankl says, but I won‘t dedicate large sums of my life to it. They ways I give would be minimal. For example, I plan on donating a small percent of my earnings to charity on a regular basis. That’s it. No missionary trips, huge rallies protesting world issues, or rebuilding someone else‘s life.
