As an incoming undergraduate student at the University of California, Irvine, I planned on studying Computer Science and Engineering. After completing my first year at the University, I found myself more intrigued by the ingenuity of the Computer Science aspect of the major. Thus, as a sophomore, I changed my major to Computer Science. This change would offer me a more in-depth study of the field as an upper-division student. At the time, I also began tutoring several Computer Science courses at the University, helping fellow classmates with their academic studies.

As an upperclassman, I discovered the specialization of Intelligent Systems, which offered an ingenious approach to Computer Science. As a field that is still in its infancy, with many areas of research and development, I knew I could make a significant impact with this kind of specialization. After formally declaring my specialization, I conducted several research projects with two University professors, Dr. Richard Lathrop (specialized in Intelligent Systems) and Dr. Ian Harris (specialized in Security Systems). Part of my work with Dr. Lathrop is currently being used as the project material for the introduction to Artificial Intelligence course taught at the University.

As a junior, I also began working at Siemens, a well-known company developing cutting-edge technologies. At Siemens, I work to develop large applications used worldwide. Working at Siemens provides me with hands-on experience and academic insights into software development. I also gain a deep understanding for the software development process and what it's like to work for a tech giant. By working in the field, I have come to realize that the development of large software requires an advanced understanding for the many technical components that make up the system. For this reason, I have chosen to pursue a Master's Degree in Computer Science at the Georgia Institute of Technology: to expand my knowledge of the many intricacies of the vast field of computer science.

I have always found it fascinating that modern technology has, and is, continuing to become an increasingly intricate part of our society and everyday life. Yet, despite the rapid advancement in technology throughout the last few decades, there is still a lot to be discovered. My aspiration to become a professional software developer and help push the capabilities of technology and development in the software industry began with pursuing and obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. I realize that I would greatly benefit from a more advanced understanding of the field and have decided to take the next step in my academic journey to obtain a Master's degree. This step will bring me closer to my goal by helping me grow academically and personally.

The OMS CS program at the Georgia Institute of Technology will build onto my solid foundation in Computer Science and allow me to become a more knowledgeable software developer as a whole.

Developing large software systems that satisfy today's market demands requires an advanced understanding of modern cutting-edge technology, algorithms, and programming languages. In attaining this degree, I intend to gain a more advanced background and become better equipped to work on a variety of aspects of more advanced software systems.

The program accommodates many intriguing specializations and courses, which will help me achieve my career objective of becoming a lead software developer. As a lead software developer, it is necessary to understand various aspects of a software system: from the code to the software architecture and user interaction. To study this overall view of software, I have chosen to specialize in Computing Systems. The specialization offers a wide range of courses, from computability and algorithms to the software development process. An advanced understanding of these various views of software development will enable me to become a successful lead software developer for a large organization, developing progressive software that makes a difference in the world.

During my undergraduate studies, I specialized in Intelligent Systems, and I intend to continue expanding my knowledge in the field. Fortunately, the OMS CS program offers many courses related to the field. Courses such as Machine Learning, Case-Based Reasoning and Knowledge-Based Al, offer an in-depth graduate level study of intelligent systems. Along with the courses I will take for the Computing Systems specialization, I plan to take these courses to help advance my knowledge in Intelligent Systems.

I find intelligent software systems fascinating and a great area of research. Charles Isbell, a current research professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology, conducts research in several fields that spark my interest, including artificial intelligence and software engineering. In the future, I would like to conduct progressive research projects in these areas of study and become a part of his research group at the University. Conducting research will allow me to utilize my creativity and explore areas of interest that push the boundaries of software systems' capabilities.

Along with advancing my career, the OMS CS program will help with personal growth. As a lifelong learner, I have an ongoing desire to add to my knowledge reservoir and challenge myself academically. The program will help me accomplish this in a structured and guided manner. By advancing my skills in computer science, I will be able to produce my own life changing applications to help improve my life and the lives of people all around the world.

Overall, the OMS CS program offered at the Georgia Institute of Technology accommodates many intriguing areas of study that will not only help advance me individually, but will also provide educational and career advancement. I hope to continue developing my knowledge in the field of computer science during the program.
