Everyone is a critic eh? Or that is what each one of us believes. When it comes to viewing a story through a specific critical lens, the reader will get the chance to view the wisdom and the literature through that lens. The Address from viewpoints 11 should be analyzed with a psychological lens because the characters state of mind is essential in that short story. The first example that made me choose this lens is when the main character, the girl, returns to the address her mother gave her before going to war and how her feelings were when the woman didn't let her in. The second example is when the girl saw her mother's friend taking some antiques and furniture from her house. The last example is when the girl saw how other people damaged and used their furniture that was promised to be returned once the girl come back.

The first example I chose that qualifies my critical lens is when the girl came back to the address her mother gave her before leaving to war. It is important to analyze this part of the story in a psychological lens because the author is trying to show us how the girl's emotions have changed throughout the years. When the woman opened the door and didn't let her in she wasn't affected that much and didn't care about it, but in this part the author is trying to deliver to us the idea that her mental state has changed after returning from the war. It's important to use this lens because we're trying to see if the characters are behaving reasonably, therefore this example proves the use of a psychological lens.

The second example I'll be using is when the girl saw her mother's friend taking most of the antiques and furniture from their house. It is important to analyze this particular part through a psychological lens because the furniture that the girl once valued so highly and greatly appreciated so much is now being tarnished and used by people she does not know. The psychological lens will help the readers understand the girl's feelings and emotions through her thoughts. It is also important to use lens  because we're trying to understand the girl's reaction to the things that have happened. Otherwise if we used any other lens we wouldn't understand anything, therefore this example clearly demonstrated the efficiency of the psychological lens.

The third and final example from the novel that proves my lens choice is when Mrs. Dorling's daughter opened the door for the girl and let her in her house. I used this example because when the daughter was talking to the girl she was showing her the antiques that were in the house which belongs to the girl's mother. She also told the girl how special they are and how they used the dishes and silverware in their lunch every day. It's important to analyze this part through a psychological lens because we are trying to understand the girl's feelings and thoughts under the realization that complete strangers were using her family's special cutlery and platters and in addition to that the psychological lens would do great here because its main focus is about the character's state of mind.

In conclusion in this essay I used 3 examples from the story to support the critical lens I've used. The first one is when the main character the girl returns to the address her mother gave her before going to war and how her feelings were when the woman didn't let her in. The next example is when the girl saw her mother's friend taking some of the antiques and the furniture from her house. The last example is when the girl saw how other people damaged and used their furniture that was promised to be returned once the girl comes back, have now successfully proven that a psychological lens would be the best option for this short story. Moreover it will leave you behind thinking how would the character behave if s/he was thinking differently.
