Going to a university, although you have a good learning environment, is a huge waste of a person's money and time. Why spend a large amount of money at a school when an adult can learn from experience throughout the world. At college, students are given more restricting work that makes them learn and develop their ideas slower, it does not help with developing a student's character and the money spent to attend university is way too large an amount.

College restricts the students from making their own things. They are given these assignments to turn in that must conform to a certain standard. It causes them to constrain their ideas. So, if they want to be an architect when they are older, they don't use their mind to its full potential because they are so used to making up something that doesn't force them to grow. When the Thiel Fellowship caused a controversy and uproar of questions about making a student not attend college, Mr. Thiel stated that, "The Fellowship seeks to help winners develop their ideas more quickly than they would at a traditional university." (Source E) The students would learn more outside the classroom from experience and be able to take on bigger things than what they are taught in a classroom.

Most students that attend colleges are at that young adult stage of their life. They are still learning new things and growing and making their own life decisions. Attending university can restrict their freedom to learn from experience and it makes the students afraid to go out into the world or they are pressured into doing something they don't want to do. Mr. Thiel feared that there was, "... social pressure for students to pursue "lower-risk trajectories..." (Source E.) This can lead to less innovation and people trying to change things in the world. Many people see college as a place that can push them into something they might not want to do. A student becomes "hustled off to college, then to the cubicle, against their own inclinations and natural bents..." (Source A). Students must be given the freedom to make their own decisions of what they want to do in life or they live in regret or fear of what they could be doing.

The amount of money students must pay to attend a college is an insanely large amount. There are many students who must have student loans. There are people who have already graduated from college who are still trying to pay those loans off because the college was so expensive. Naturally, students can start getting jobs to help pay for these loans, but even the wages for jobs have gone down. The study of the change in hourly wages for College graduates noticed that, for men and women, the hourly wage from 2000 to 2010 dropped by a whole dollar (Source C). It is harder for graduates to pay off this debt from University. There are many young adults who would give anything to attend university, but the only problem is that they cannot afford it. In the survey of the general public is stated that, "...adults ages 18 to 34 who are not in school...a major reason for not continuing their education is the need to support a family..." (Source F). To pay all of that money just does not seem worth it over a family that you need to take care of.

Going to a University can be beneficial to certain people, but it still does not work for most. The restricting life style of being in a classroom can cause students to feel like they can't go for their dreams, usually the students don't learn as quickly and the money spent to attend college is a devastatingly large amount for someone who is just getting their life started.
