It is important to ask ourselves “What are the causes of bullying?” because it is only with this knowledge that we can ultimately reduce this behaviour.

The psychological effect of bullying include depression, anxiety, low self esteem, self-harming behaviour, alcohol and drug use and dependence, aggression, and involvement in violence or crime. Research has consistently shown that bullying can have a negative impact on how well children and adolescents rate of bullying in New Zealand are very high compared to other countries. New Zealand has not been reducing bullying in primary school. This negative has been evident since 1994
