During this report essay, I have personally carried out a sophisticated interview consisting a set of numerous open questionnaires so that the participant may talk freely in their own words. Also, I was able to gain some qualitative data feedback and also discussing about single parenting and preparing some deeper questions to ask my interviewer. Since thankfully I am not aware of a single parents, I determined to ask my father, named Bader on his personal opinions and views on single parenting in today's society and what are its major concerns and effects. My father, being a well experienced parent for the past 20 years living in a cheerful family of four children and the help of his wife supporting him, Ashjan. The participant was interviewed using questions at home, since I wanted my interviewer to feel pure serenity and comfortable expressing his thoughts.

Generally, it will be the responsibility of the family, to train but also to progress the life of their child and also to influence them in the norms and values of the society. Both parents are responsible for the educational and career development, together with the psychological and emotional welfare of the child. Ideally a family will provide a sense of security and stability that will be necessary for children. When there shall be a breakdown in the family structure, it will have a tremendous impact on a child and their ability to function ordinarily or achieve academically especially in a society like Kuwait. One of the reasons of why there are more single parent families these days than in the past would probably link to Divorce.

Divorce has become very common that it leaves one parent looking after the children. Also, some women now get to select to raise children on their own without the financial help of their ex-husbands. Besides, woman have greater financial independence. By that I mean that women are more likely to have qualifications that allow them to work to support their family and they may be able to receive welfare benefits, so they do not need a man as a breadwinner.

Furthermore, the first question was (what's the very first thing that pops into your mind when you hear that someone is a single parent?) “ I feel sorry for them, as kuwait's societies norm for families is to have both parents together" This response showed how it is necessary to have both parents together or else the family may breakdown. The next question was was rather based on opinions, whereas the responder responded confidently “there's never a decisions in becoming a single parent and its mostly their unpredicted circumstances such as divorce or death of a cherished one Mentioning how unusual single parents are seen, the relatives play a massive role. Linking this question, marriage is seen as a social construct which has been accepted by our society and people around us.

However, single parenting is seen as unusual and unacceptable. Again, referring to the functionalist theory, functionalists believe that society is made up of lots of parts which depend on each other to function properly and that if one fails, the whole society structure collapses. George Murdock( 1949) is also with the functionalists believing that the nuclear families are essential that carry out these functions .( How do you think the relatives of a single parent will react towards the choice of not having a partner?) “ inside the relatives emotions they will feel a great extent of sorrow as they feel that they are unpleasant knowing the fact that their child will struggle to handle this bizarre situation and that they will not function well".

Thus, communicate is vital since we can't isolate ourselves and we need at least one person to talk to in our lives. This question explores the ways in which how a single parent can reach out to someone and to express themselves. (If you put yourself in a single parents shoes, who’s the first person you would go to and discuss about the situation?) “ my mother, because she's utterly the most person that can understand and accepts her child and senses sympathy and hands out reasonable advices on what to do next and always stands by my side" this shows how vital a mother is since society sees a mother as caring and affectionate towards her children this links to structural functionalist theory and how society functions. Question 7 links to the consensus theory that the functionalists view our society, that there are shared norms and values for example: education is a value and the norm is to be punctual. “The government should assist in making single parent society funding and to subsidize them and providing support to the family"was quoted by the interviewer.

In conclusion, throughout this interview I have learnt that being a single parent isn't accepted mainly in Kuwait since it is seen as a shame rather than proudness. I truly think that parents shouldn't think about getting separated and becoming single since it will affect in their lives immensely as they have various circumstances such as changing their life 360degrees. I also disagree on single parenting as it will also affect the child itself feeling insecure opening up about his parents towards his friends or relatives lowering the self esteem and financially unstable and struggling.(A lot of children are homeschooled) which links to parsons identifications.
