Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. is the world's largest retailer, with almost 4,000 stores in the United States and more than 2,000 more across Europe, Asia, South America, Mexico and Canada. Along with its success, Wal-Mart also became the leading employer in the U. S. in 1997, with 680,000 employees all over the country; and as of 2008, the company employed 1. 9 million workers across the globe. Moreover, Wal-Mart offers its employees numerous opportunities to pursue their goals. In view of these, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. is not only focused in doing retail business, but also of growing and keeping talent within its organization. Wal-Mart provides all of its Associates with growth opportunities by giving them with up to date training resources to help them attain their career goals. Wal-Mart has several training tools in place that keep the company ahead of the competition, including skills assessments, satellite broadcasts, mentor programs, corporate intranet sites, distance learning, computer-based learning, classroom courses, and job notices (Vault, 2009).

III. Evaluation

Wal-Mart's evaluation of employees performances are based on conflict, ethics and motivation is very professional and scientific. It has a high employee recognition in view of the fact that senior level workers are exclusively promoted within the organization. Accordingly, Wal-Mart has grown into one of the largest, most famous and well-managed companies of the world. IV. Compensation and Benefits One of the key factors in Wal-Mart's success is its committed and dedicated workers. Although the salary for its full-time employees is $6 to $7. 50 an hour for 28-40 hours a week, which is the average in retail business; the employees are, nevertheless, remunerated with a generous profit sharing and bonus plan that is unequaled (PBS, n. d. , p. 1). Wal-Mart employs profit sharing, which gives its employees the chance to obtain company stock.
