Barack Obama was the 44th president of the United States of America. He was inaugurated as a 44th President in November of 2008 but assumed in office January 20, 2009 at the age of 47, and served for 8 years.

Obama was born in Hawaii to an African father and a white mother. Growing up he attended Columbia University, where he pursued a degree in political science. After then attended Harvard Law School, where he became a lawyer and was elected 1st African American editor of Harvard Law Review. This is where he met his wife, Michelle Obama, who was also a lawyer. He then became Senator representing Illinois in 1996.

As a senator, Barack Obama accomplished to be a huge politician capable of playing hard to win the election, a legislator with a sharp eye, and a strategist willing to compromise to accomplish things. He was a senator of Illinois until 2004, then was elected to the US Senate and became the 5th African American to serve in the Senate in January of 2005.

The Senator from Illinois, states that in Jan 2007, Obama announced his decision to run for the presidential election. His campaign was not easy at that time, but Obama had pushed through and won. The race was an issue in his campaign but he responded with a firm speech that shocked the reporter with Newsweek. His public speaking skills were lyrical, and he was able to get the world involved positively and was very strategic through his social media messages. His campaign was focusing on the need for change in the U.S. He wanted to implement the same changes he accomplished as a Senate into the presidency, for example, healthcare, planning to end the Iraq War, improving the school education system, and addressing concerns about immigration problems. Race and immigration were the most prominent concerns in his work. He also strongly supported women's rights.

During his presidency, President Obama was able to address all his concerns and make some changes to the United States. He basically ended the war in Iraq and improved schools nutrition with the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act, he signed an affordable care act, which provided health insurance to over 20 million uninsured Americans, and he rescued the United States from the great economical recession, creating jobs, and cutting the unemployment rate from 10% to 4.7% over his presidency. Obama had a political background and the political knowledge that assisted with his years as president.

Obama was also highly concerned with international peace and stability. He wanted the world to become a united and peaceful place to enable all citizens to enjoy liberty. Therefore, Obama set out and reached out to many global leaders in a bid to establish a common understanding and enhance global cooperation. He was interested in making the Middle East safe and counters threats to America’s national society. Obama also helped fight nuclear threats posed by Iran and North Korea to guarantee global peace. In 2009, Obama was presented with the Nobel Peace Award for his efforts in boosting cooperation among the global nations and good diplomatic relations.
