It’s difficult when you catch yourself living on autopilot. When you do something and just wonder, “How did I get here? When did I get here? When will I live for each day?” The way you’re feeling is not so much that you’re unhappy, you just feel weird. Our moods change far too often for us as humans to understand why, but the encounters you make every day have this effect on us. Stop accepting the nasty attitude from customers and start accepting the smiles of young children you meet while volunteering abroad. If you don’t push your comfort zone, it is inevitably like living your life on replay. You wake up and do the same thing every day, coloring between the lines and trying to keep uncertainty safely beyond the boundaries of your magic bubble.

The day you realize that you’re no longer living for you is a huge eye opener. You walk the same long and breathtaking path to your class every 8am Tuesday-Thursday. You deny a activity because you need to go to your family reunion where frankly your very religious and uptight second family aunt is attending. You refuse all of these possible beautiful sites and memories being made because you don’t want to go off track of what your parents made out for you. But wait..how would you know if they are beautiful? I find myself on a strict schedule. I go to school, study, workout, study some more, more school, eat, etc. I often dream about going skydiving, traveling to every state in America, and just some average bucket list items.

Take that invite to go road tripping two states away from your overprotective parents. Go kite flying. Go sky diving. Go knee boarding. Take that risk. Fear is temporary. Regret is permanent.

Enjoy the beauty in life. Live for YOURSELF. Adventure out. Stop spending your life like a record on repeat. Never get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life. Your light will return to your body. Your laughter where your tummy aches is in your reach.

The world can be an ugly place, and your attitude towards life can change every day. One thing is for certain: you did not lose who you are internally. We all put on a face for the world for people who we try to impress and for the life we want to achieve. Take a challenging gym class, eat something you thought you would never eat, tell someone NO, start a conversation with a random person you walk by. Make it happen. Shock everyone.

Live your life to the fullest because you’re only young once.
