Suddenly, Yolanda pulled out a pistol and pointed it at Selena's head. Selena tried to flee for help, but it was too late. She was shot in the back while running away. Although she was rushed to the hospital, she was pronounced dead at 1:05 pm due to blood loss from the gunshot wound.

Selena's impact on the world was greater than she could have ever imagined. Although she never saw her English album become her biggest hit, it was completed in July 1995 and went on to win a Grammy and later achieved double platinum status.
