Just like in the other movies, the filmmaker in the jinx documentary is charged with the responsibility of scripting. Any filmmaker can build a script in some ways (Knudsen and Erik, p109). They can write a script based on a real-life situation or an original idea; they can purchase one from screenwriters or even use the tools they possess to build a version of alternative products such as plays or even books.

It does not matter how the filmmaker gets the script but what matters most is how best they convey their message. The filmmaker in the Jinx has built a rather entertaining script with several reenactments that revolve around real- life justice (Bruzzi and Stella p249). With the series being stated as delivery and not a creation, it portrays a success in the investigative process with most of its areas being said to play "in cold blood" a statement uttered by Dan Brown.

Budgeting is also another role that the filmmaker is charged with (Knudsen and Erik, p109). With the use of the script as well as the basic ideas of the film, the filmmakers must come up with an estimated budget of the movie. All this process involves what it takes for the script to be turned into a movie which ranges from paying for the necessary equipment, renting the temporary space as well as paying the actors.

The Jinx filmmaker was charged with the same responsibilities which involved paying the actors and the stuff like cameras that were used in the process of acting. This also encompasses catering for all the other expenses incurred in the process of performing.

Creating authenticity and matching originality is another role of the filmmakers (Knudsen and Erik, p109). For a movie to sell and compete well with the other in the same class, it has to be authentic and original which provides the viewers with something new that they can use to entertain themselves with.

The Jinx documentary filmmaker came up with an authentic style of investigations which is not common in the documentaries world. Despite the criticisms that have risen challenging this form of acting, many viewers are enjoying the documentary due to its authenticity and originality (Bruzzi and Stella p249).

Additionally, production and post-production are other critical roles for the filmmakers (Knudsen and Erik, p109). Production refers to the step when the film is shot while the essence of post-production is to edit the raw film into a comprehensible whole. In production, it is ensured that every arrangement is made according to the laid budget. After the actors are coached in the production process, visual editing and addition of music, as well as addition of effects, is done. The combination of all this helps to come up with the desired movie.

In the Jinx documentary, the filmmaker had to train the actors to perform according to the desired ways. He had to ensure that they make perfect moves like doing the interviews which portray a world-class investigative process (Bruzzi and Stella p249). Also, editing of different scripts had to be done to come up with the episodes in the movie. For example, the finding of the dead body had to be edited and combined with the investigations of the police to capture the culprit (MORRIS, ANTHONY. "THE JINX.").

In a nutshell, the filmmaker is charged with several responsibilities that he must not skip. Each one of these roles is essential in ensuring the building of a perfect or almost perfect script. These roles include scripting, budgeting, hiring, casting, pre-production, production, post-production, release and releasing of the salary information for the producers and the directors.

The Jinx documentary is not an exceptional thus the filmmaker had to follow these steps to ensure that everything planned had been placed in order and that the best script is produced.
