It has been said that if you make a bold action, to be prepared for what comes next, usually means something bad. While in some cases this is is true, about 90% of bold actions has a reward, not a risk. This is shown in “Rogue Wave”, “The Flight of Icarus”, Abby Sunderland resources, and The Outsiders. One of the rewards for taking bold actions is, by doing dangerous, even when no one else will step up to the challenge, to help someone, you can be considered a hero. This is demonstrated in the text of The Outsiders, Ponyboy says that when Johnny died he died, “...a hero...” (Hinton 154) because he saved the kids from the church fire. This means that even though no one else showed any attempt to go in the church, he became a hero because of the selfless action he did for the kids in the fire. This is important because he sacrificed his life, just so those kids could have one.

Another reward of doing bold actions is, by escaping from somewhere you're being kept at,even though it seems that everything you try won’t work, you keep trying, until something works, and you become free. This is shown in “The Flight of Icarus”, Daedalus is trying to escape the island King Minos imprisons him on, and even though his attempts have all failed, he finally escapes using wings made of wax, feathers and wires and becomes free. This means that even though it looked like all hope was lost for him and that he wouldn’t escape, he persevered and found a way to escape.

Most people will tell you that bold actions are bad. They argue that yes in The Outsiders Johnny dies a hero, what about Dally? In the story he dies after steals from a store, running from police, then pulling a unloaded gun at the police, and on top of that, Ponyboy says Dally died, “...a hoodlum.” (Hinton 154) Though that may be true, he also risked his life for Pony and Johnny to help them.

It cannot be denied that bold actions are worth the risk, depending on the cause of doing it, such as helping someone in a dangerous situation when no one else will and doing it to get freedom from something, even if it feels like a dream that won’t come true. Though the examples are from stories that aren’t true, it doesn’t mean that you can’t do a bold action and get a good result from it. As long as you do it and you believe you can do it, even when it looks like you can’t, the results are endless.
