An ideal college education for me consists of courses with reading skills and writing proficiency. Liberal art courses would improve writing. Developing practical and interpersonal skills such as communication, interaction, problem-solving, and adapting knowledge and skills in real-world scenarios. If students understand that education has a point, it would increase the enrollment rate and decrease drop rates. Taking unnecessary classes that have nothing to do with your career is a waste of time and money. The general education classes that are required don't offer a lot of educational value and aren't necessarily needed. High school was supposed to take care of that and all grade schools prior to that. Get them ready to graduate early and be successful in this world.

The question should be how do we prepare them for the next chapter of their life. Prepare students to walk out of college with practical experience. Training that teaches real-life knowledge to carry even after college. Teaching life skills like how to interview for a job, do your taxes, how to handle money, the bill of rights - to know and practice your rights, home repair and homeowners insurance, car repair and car insurance, credit, cooking, self-defense, learning from failures and time management. Gaining the tools necessary to think critically. Hands-on learning is a more effective way to learn. Not being bounded by the textbooks and obligated to memorize what we've read when half the time you don't understand it but activities, debates, lab, and experiments.

In a new economy with a new way of innovative thinking. It's all about what we're teaching them and exactly how. Everyone learns differently. No courses should require test taking because it only causes test anxiety. Also doesn't really prove that students actually understand what they're learning just that their good test-takers. The classes experience that's placed out for students. Not everything is in that class and book that’s why we should be teaching outside the box. Teachers that are not all about the grades but give you the same 100% your give. I know this is a world evolving around technology but everything should be a hard copy because research shows that online content is harder to recall. Smaller classes would be very beneficial as well, students perform better in all subjects in smaller classes. Opportunity to wide range of internships to build future ties for jobs that guide you toward your career. What I’ve realized is that giving students various amount of examples until they completely understand helps.
