Born To Inspire American author T.D Jakes said, "If you can't find your purpose, find out your passion and it will lead you right to your purpose." My biggest passion is to help others in any way possible. All of my future aspirations and goals deeply intertwine with my purpose. My personal goal is to positively change as many people's lives as I can while I am alive. Academically, I would like to obtain a bachelor's degree from UCF in early childhood education. My career aspiration is to become a preschool teacher. I exist to help and inspire others while helping them realize their full potential. A few years ago, I spent some time as a patient in a youth hospital to treat my depression and anxiety. During my time there, I met a little girl of only six years old. Her name was Nevaeh. She suffered with some sort of severe bipolar disorder. She would shift between highs and very dangerous lows, where she would throw tantrums. When she snapped out of it, she did not remember anything that happened. Over the course of our treatments, we grew very close. I was the only person who could get her to calm down before and after a tantrum.
Nevaeh would not sleep in her room because she was afraid of the doctors, so at bedtime each night, one of the nurses would escort me to the recreation area, where I would read a story to Nevaeh. I held her hand as she fell asleep before I was escorted back to my room. When my treatment was over and I was discharged from the hospital, I hugged Neveah goodbye. She whispered in my ear, wordsI will never forget. "You're the only person who helped me. You make me feel better. I will miss you." As I walked out the doors, a nurse stopped me and said "I hope you know that you changed that little girl's life. You have a beautiful gift for helping others despite your own life challenges, never let go of that." Since my time there, I made a vow to myself that I would help as many people as I can while I am able. I did not have the best role models growing up. Education was not important to my family. My mother dropped out of school when she was in seventh grade. I lived in a very unstable household. My mother would deliberately take away homework assignments as a form of punishment. I never had the best grades in school.
However, for as long as I can remember, I loved to lean. My educational dream has always to obtain a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education at UCF by the age of twenty five. My education and willingness to learn was the only aspect of my life that I felt I was in control of. My one and only concern always has been, and always will be to make sure that I do everything possible to avoid becoming my parents. I have never had it easy. My education is a part of my life I have had to work very hard for. I may have been raised in Orlando, but due to me living in Ohio for the past two yeas resulted in me becoming an out of state student. I almost did not attend college because the cost was too expensive. Despite the astronomical cost, I decided to take out student loans. With the help of the loans, and a small grant from a foster child program in Ohio, I am now able to live my dream earning my degree. I will continue my education, no matter what it takes. At a very young age, I was thrown into independence. My mother was not aware of what it takes to be a parent, or a good role model for a young child. Therefore, I always turned to my teachers for guidance. Many Personal home issues arose, and teachers were the only people willing to help me. I began growing very close with my educators, who realized my potential before I noticed it myself.

One of my teachers even took custody of me for a few weeks while there was an open investigation between my family and Children's services. When I asked her why she took a chance on me, she simply said "The drive you have, is all you need to reach for the stars. No one can give it to you, and no one can take it away. You have more potential than you think you have. I am just a helping hand in the process" Those words have stuck with me through the years, comforting me in times of need. That was the first moment I had realized that I truly wanted to become some sort of teacher. Completing this goal will not be easy due to the fact that I have been diagnosed with Severe Social Anxiety. It is a teacher's job to stand in front of a classroom and provide education and knowledge. It is difficult for me to say hello to a stranger, I never thought I could become a teacher. However, I have learned many ways to treat my anxiety. I have also learned that over the years, my anxiety virtually disappears when I am teaching in a classroom. I become strictly focused on the children.
During my junior and senior years in high school, I was a part ofa special vocational program in which I had the opportunity to work as a teacher's aide in a preschool classroom setting. I was consistently aware of my love for children. However, my experience in the classroom became the groundbreaking event where I discovered I wanted to become a preschool teacher T exist to help and inspire others while helping them realize their full potential. In my experience, the best way to help people realize their full potential, is by teaching them. Nelson Mandela stated, "Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world." With that, I have decided that I can reach each one of my goals by obtaining my degree, and becoming a teacher. Each year, I will be givena new opportunity to change a child's life. If I have the opportunity to help a child grow and learn, then why pass it up? My parents did not set the best example for me as a child. However, I know that I will never make the mistake of giving up on my goals. I now know that I have lived this difficult life, because I was born to inspire others.
