The man does not have enough information to know for sure whether or not the job is a good one, but he needs to make a decision quickly. In this case, James says, it is perfectly rational for the man to believe that the job is a good one, even though he does not have any evidence for it.James goes on to say that there are many other cases where we do not have enough evidence to know for sure whether something is true, but we still need to make a decision. In these cases, he says, we should go with our "passions" or "gut feelings." He gives the example of a man who is considering whether or not to marry a woman. The man does not have enough evidence to know for sure whether or not the woman is a good match for him, but he is attracted to her and feels like he could be happy with her. In this case, James says, it is rational for the man to marry the woman, even though he does not have any evidence that she is a good match for him. James concludes by saying that there are many important decisions that we have to make in life, and we cannot always wait for evidence to make them. Sometimes we have to go with our gut feelings and hope for the best."
