In the state Louisiana, 34.2% are African Americans, 15.8% are Asian American, 22.2% are Latino, 29.0% are Native American and 12.8% are White. Education now extends beyond the classroom walls. With devices like iPads for example, students are no longer confined to a computer lab. As soon as an assignment is available students can work on it inside their classroom, at home, while waiting on the bus, in between classes, etc. Textbooks are becoming extinct. All these mobile devices in the classroom, eBooks are becoming more popular. There's a change in student and teacher roles because technology in the classroom the traditional student and teacher roles have changed. Students become a lot more active and engaged. Classrooms are becoming more collaborative. One of the characteristics of the modern classroom is collaboration and technology helps to empower it. With classroom technology students can collaborate with other students and their teachers in and outside of the classroom quickly and easily. Technology in the classroom allows teacher to deliver more personalized learning. Lessons can be customized to fit each student's progress and learning style.

Through these learning tools educators can provide opportunities for students to be able to work and excel at their own level and pace. When it comes to poverty and education, many children face difficult situations. Students who live in poverty come to school every day without the proper tools for success. As a result, they are commonly behind their classmates physically, socially, emotionally or cognitively. The diets of students who live in poverty are rarely balanced or nutritious. Fresh foods are more expensive than pre-packaged alternatives, and inexpensive fast food is readily available. The hectic working conditions involved with two parents holding multiple jobs to pay the bills results in hurried, unhealthy meals. Children in these families must often look after themselves, meaning there is no adult supervision of their eating habits. Many low income first-generation college students who are reading and doing math at a seventh or eighth grade level are admitted into college.
Every year, as many as 1.7 million first-year students entering both two- and four-year colleges will take a remedial course to learn the skills they need to enroll in a college-level course. African American, Hipic, and low-income students represent the largest populations of entering college freshmen who require remedial courses. The five challenges low-income students face at school and/or in the classroom are lack of exposure, language barriers, lack of stability, lack of role models, and first generations. As someone who has a learning disability, I understand the struggles when it comes attending school. Growing up, I went to 7 different schools from preschool to high school throughout my whole academic career. There were many times when I couldn't keep up with other students but having this disability I been a blessing in disguise because I had the advantage to seek extra help from teachers and counselors.
I would also receive extra time on my tests/exams. I also get the choice to take my test in a quiet room by myself so I wouldn't be distracted. There would be many times when would feel like I can't do anything because I am not be smarter than others but my family gives me the courage to fight and keep going because they believe in me and I also look to God he helps guide me through the right path. I learned to overcome my disability even though, it is something that I can't get rid of. I hope I can help other kids and students that has the same disability as me.
