The concept of giving yourself no matter the situation or circumstance. The belief to provide in hopes to create a chain reaction of giving. Rotary is a network of individuals who come together as one to promote unity, and the goodwill for our world. Like the motto Rotarians gives “Service Above Self” they strive to think of others before themselves. Roatrians aim to uplift and cultivate the welfare of human services as a foundation of “worthy enterprise.” Growing up my parents instilled in me the importance of giving back and lending a helping hand.

From a young age I would always volunteer at my church’s local food bank every other Thursdays after school. It was a growing tradition I learned since elementary and continued to do up until now of my senior year in high school. When I entered middle school I went through a drastic change in school environment. I went from a small private school with a student population of twenty-four students to a public school with an average population of about eight hundred. This change encouraged me to get involved in clubs and organizations that stuck with me through high school. I decided to join Student Council because of my freewill to provide and promote others. Joining Student Council helped me better my skills in cultivating the needs of others and my fellow students. I am in the No Place for Hate Committee to encourage the importance of self worth and peace to others.

In my high school I am fortunate to have the Big Event, a one day student ran service where students show their gratitude for their community, that I have been blessed to do for the past two years. Still not satisfied with the amount of service I was doing I decided to join key club for more opportunities to give. I give some of my time volunteering for Alex Lemonade Stand which is by the way a phenomenal organization, feeding the homeless, tutoring students, fundraising money for a family in need and many more inspiring activities. In addition to that I am a proud member of Avid and FCCLA, clubs that prep young students into young attentive adults with self determination to go out and make an impactful difference in the world.

In the near future I plan to use the knowledge I have gained from my wide participation in activities and clubs to promote the same type of gratitude to others. I plan to create my own organization to encourage others about the importance of giving back. To show individuals the values gained from immense elevation for others. I want to set a precedent for younger children so they can know the significance of giving like the one instilled in me. I want to be able to show people that the little things in life can go a long way for individuals and that no matter who or what you are you can make a difference in your community.
