Question is Should Prostitution be Legal? The prostitution began a rise during and after World War II. Men, married and unmarried paid for sexual favors to relieve stress. When considering legalizing prostitution economist did research on prostitutes and their clients and how often they usually meet. The first study on the role of clients in the sex market was conducted in the US in the late 1940s (Kinsey, Pomeroy and Martin, 1948). The aim of this survey was to estimate the number of males who had paid for sex at least once in their lives. According to the survey's results, two thirds of the men contacted had done so and 15-20% were regular clients of the prostitutes. (Nicola, 2009)

The Last type of prostitute is the street walker, the most dangerous and underpaid. She lurks the streets majority of the nights and provides services at night. Prostitution is a very dangerous and harmful profession. Prostitutes go through a lot with their pimp (the man that owns them that they give a certain percentage of the money to), slow nights, diseases and the chances of getting rapped or killed. According to recent statistics, the death rate for prostitutes in the U.S. is 204 out of every 100,000. Not only the death rate but the average prostitute gets physically (but non-lethally) attacked approximately once a month.
When prostitutes face violence they have nowhere to turn without being arrested.[HGL10] Since prostitution is illegal this makes it very difficult to figure out who is the real criminal there, the buyer or seller. The benefit to making prostitution legal includes Reduce the violence toward women. Prostitutes would be protected by security and guidelines that the department of labor would create. Prostitution would be healthier so that means the decrease in sexually transmitted diseases. The state of Nevada allows Brothels in certain areas.
In the State of Nevada, sex workers are required monthly tests for syphilis and HIV and weekly tests for gonorrhea and chlamydia. The State of Nevada also requires condoms for all sex in brothels. Legalizing prostitution creates another source of tax revenue. While brothels in Nevada pay no state taxes, they pay significant amounts of tax to the rural counties where they do business, according to The New York Times. Nevada Republicans blocked a plan a couple of years ago to subject brothels to state taxes, as they didn't want schools and other state services funded by sex work.[Eri13] Lastly legalizing prostitution creates legal jobs.
The disadvantage to making prostitution legal includes the change of careers, HIV/AIDS prevention, and prostitution will be considered a victimless Crime. Due to the high demand and the large amounts of money men pay for sexual acts women are more likely to change their career. HIV/AIDS prevention won't happen in prostitution. Once the prostitution as HIV/AIDS he or shit might quit or some won’t, which could spread the infection three times more than average. A victimless crime is a legal offense to which all parties consent and no party is injured. This will cause prostitutes to lose money.
Even though prostitution is everywhere the best solution is to abolish prostitution. Feminist and I agree it's very degrading and creates hatred toward women. New York is one of the few states that have came to an agreement on an abolishing prostitution law. In May, 2012, New York City witnessed multiple arrests of johns (guys who purchase sex) when the Manhattan District Attorney's Office applied new state sex trafficking laws to customers who pay prostitutes for sex will receive an offense that can carry a sentence of up to one year in jail. Other states should address the prostitution issue before it comes to an all-time high. As mentioned earlier Prostitution and Human Trafficking are forms of slavery. Great women leaders fought for women to have rights such s working, voting and even equal pay. Prostitution wasn't one of those rights. Prostitution should not be legalized but it will not be going anywhere anytime soon. It creates great controversy and affects our community more than we think.
