Task 1

Health & Safety Policy Manual, Risk Assessment and Organogram

  1. Produce an H&S Policy Manual which demonstrates your knowledge and understanding of how health and safety legislation is implemented in a health and social care workplace. Your Policy Manual should show an outline of the health and safety systems, policies and procedures which are communicated in a health and social care workplace. A template is provided for you to complete.
  2.  Conduct a Risk Assessment on an organisation of your choice in a health and social care setting, outlining the key health and safety hazards you would encounter and how you deal with them to secure the workplace. A template is provided for you to complete.
  3. Provide an organogram of the Health and Safety positions in an organisation and explain the responsibilities associated with these roles. Use your organogram to identify the prominent roles for your chosen organisation. (Diagrams and flowcharts can be used here). Note: Task ONE partially covers Assessment criteria 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 for LO1

Task 2

Conduct a Risk Assessment and prepare a CARE PLAN for a service user of your choice.

This task requires you to carry out a risk assessment for a service user in a work environment, including the full risk assessment as part of your submission. Your risk assessment should form the basis for developing a Care Plan for the service user and you will be required to evaluate the risks and make recommendations on how to improve the Care Plan. A template is provided for you to complete.

Task 2 partially covers Assessment criterion 2.1 for LO2

Note: Tasks 1 & 2 must be submitted on week 6 as separate documents.

Task3

A written piece of workTask 3 requires you to submit a written piece of work covering all learning outcomes (LO1s, LO2s & LO3s). You must ensure that all the assessment criteria listed below are adequately answered in your assignment. This task is due on the 16th December 2013

2.3 Discuss how dilemmas encountered in relation to implementing systems and policies for health, safety and security may be addressed.

2.4 Analyse the effects of non-compliance with health and safety legislation in a health and social care work place.

3.1 Explain how health and safety policies and practices are monitored and reviewed.

3.2 Analyse the effectiveness of health and safety policies and practices in the workplace in promoting a positive health and safety culture.

3.3 Evaluate own contribution to placing the health and safety needs of individuals at the Centre of practice.

Make effective judgements as to how health and safety policies and practices are monitored and reviewed by a care organisation improvements for the organisation and yourself in addressing dilemmas encountered
