I went to see an OK Go concert with my friend at terminal 5. We went early to line up to get a close spot near the front of the stage. We were ushered up to the rooftop to wait and had the option to buy some alcohol if we wanted to. Everybody waited and eventually the doors opened up. My friend and I headed to the balcony where we sat right above the stage to get a better view. A huge blank white screen was set up in front of the stage and the crew was rushing to set up the instrumentals behind it. We listened to some indie songs that they played in the beginning while waiting. After a while, more and more people started coming in. I watched as the crowd grew immensely. The lights dimmed. The show was beginning.

The sound of drums and guitars filled the room and a huge face was projected onto the screen, singing along the words of the song. The projection on the screen was pretty trippy and an unique experience; Bright geometric shapes peeped through the black and white faces. With the smell of marijuana and alcohol in the air, the entire atmosphere felt really trippy. After about 2-3 songs in the concert, there was a screen that was dropped and confetti was shot into the audience. It looked like a huge snow globe from the balcony.

We see the band members and the crowd goes wild. After the song ended, Damien, the lead singer, welcomes everyone and asks if anyone in the audience had any questions. Hands shot up and people began to scream. They asked a whole bunch of random questions. Most of them were questions like “Why are you so cute?” I remember asked him a philosophical question. He asked him if he thought human beings were inherently good or bad, to which Damien answered " I think we are all born inherently good, just selfish." After a round of questions, a bell rang which meant it was time to resume the show.

During one of their songs, my friend and I looked at each other with excitement and envy as Damien jumped onto the crowd and surfed. If we had known better, we could have been down there with the crowd, instead of being up in the balcony. My friend insisted we come up here. She thought the view of the balcony would be better experience. We did not know this concert was going to be this interactive.

This was my first time at one of their concerts. I have a hard time remembering which songs they played because I haven't heard a majority of their songs. But the whole experience is still very vivid in my mind. They put on an amazing show. The performance was very entertaining. I loved this concert. It was very refreshing to see an artist be so interactive with the audience; with the special effects, the q&a session, the confetti and the crowd surfing. They made sure that everyone had a great time and enjoyed the performance. This will be a concert that I will remember for the rest of my life.
