In taking the selected self-assessments, the results gave a great guidance to my overall personality and helped relate my strengths to my current career path. Usually I feel I have a high sense of self-awareness, and understand who and how I am in most situations especially when it comes to business. My current career as a real estate agent revolves a lot around personality. With personality having a direct affect on success in this industry, I definitely have room to grow as a young professional, so items like the competencies index are extremely helpful. All of these exercises give insight of how to conduct yourself with people while doing business. Below I'll share the results of 4 different assigned personality tests in detail.

When reviewing the competencies index, I selected several characteristics in each category that I possess stronger than the others. Starting with people competencies, in my workplace I have encountered many different co-worker transitions and have had to adjust to each of them by beginning with building a brand new relationship.

No matter how many times a colleague will quit or get fired, I like to make each of them feel comfortable and close enough to me to always ask for help, especially when they have just started. That leads into having a positive regard and being motivational towards my whole office; I am the type of worker that wants to see everybody succeed and I don't ever lose the drive of pushing to make it happen. To further assist in leading others, I use organizational ability almost every day since I have been in my current position the longest and can let somebody know at any time what needs to get completed.

To communicate and influence people, majority of the characteristics in this section of the competencies index are equally important to have, in my opinion. For example, when doing sales you need to try to not only understand but react to anything and everything your client does. You're selling something and they're potential buyers; you need to listen, be prepared and have the ability to influence or persuade them in your favor. The art of this is the key to having a successful career in any aspect of sales.

Possessing these characteristics have greatly added to my success already and I plan to continue exercising them throughout my entire career. Business competencies for preventing and solving problems mostly require different forms of thinking. My favorite style described in the index for real estate is negotiation skills. I've experienced a lot of negotiation in property management from renters that want lower rents or incentives to lease an apartment. As a consultant, you want to make a deal work for both parties while protecting the product. This leads into the last area of business competencies of achieving results. By taking initiative and having an entrepreneurial insight, you can stay ahead. In any sales position that is how you stand out and remain successful over time; by seizing opportunities to make money or get into new activities by setting up business.

For the listening skills inventory assessment, I scored a 58 out of 100 for patience when listening. The summary for this score explained that sometimes, when I'm interacting with others and want to add a word in edgewise or simply want to move the conversation along, it can be a bit of a challenge for me to sit quietly and wait. I can definitely relate this to in-person conversations when I am extremely busy and feel as though I need a conversation to hurry up and get to the "point" rather than sit and wait for a long, drawn out story.

I have patience, but it is limited, and that is was this assessment reflected. In business, I can certainly agree that this type of behavior could use some refining, and that it may affect business relationships negatively if I am not careful. I do try and limit this behavior when I know the person speaking is very attentive and could acknowledge that I'm not being fully attentive, so it does avoid possible conflict. On a normal basis with personal friends or family, I will also work on my listening and patience while listening, but feel it's most important to practice and focus on in my business interactions.

For my career path in real estate, an essential aspect for me to master is customer service, which ties into being sure I am listening and giving my clients my full attention. Since there are so many people in this world with so many different styles of speaking, it can present a challenge to remain focused, but that is what assessments like these are for; to address those challenges.

My results from the Personality-Based Emotional Intelligence test came back with 21 out of 25 questions correct. This particular personality test was really fun although it required critical thinking. The results revealed that I scored higher than 85.3% of the people who take the test, which puts me in the 15 percentile. Not bad! The Emotional Intelligence (EI) test gave examples of one particular "emotion" and then gave you four answer choices to choose from. When reading these choices, we had to select which of the four options was most relatable to the given emotion. I actually thought I would've scored higher, so I'm interested in which 4 questions I didn't get right.

The Authentic Happiness Inventory test was intriguing. As much as I wanted to falsify some answers to get an ultimately "higher" happiness score, I remembered the title of the test and answered the questions honestly. I also noticed in the details when I started that they asked to base my responses on how I've specifically felt this week, so that altered my positions a bit. In my current career, I tend to face a lot of stressful situations that sometimes makes it hard to stay fully content.

My score on this test was a 3.67 on a scale of 1 to 5, and the scale is scored based on how my score compared to others who took the test. I feel this was definitely an authentic representation of my current happiness. Generally, I am an extremely happy person so I think my score would have been higher had it been geared for general opinion verses just "this week". We all know being a full-time student and working full-time can be wearing on the mind!

My favorite test was the Jung test and the results gave me the best insight into my true personality. The results of this test came back with me being extroverted 75% verses introverted 25%, intuitive 86% verses sensing 14%, thinking 64% verses feeling 36%, and judging 68% verses perceiving 32%. Simply put- I am extroverted, intuitive, thoughtful, and judgmental, according to the Jung test. Being in a sales position makes it important to be extroverted but not necessarily judgmental. This may be something I want to dig into a little deeper and work harder to change; personally I'd like to perceive things in business rather than judge.

All in all, I've taken notes as to what I may need to work on and what skills I already have when talking or thinking about my career path. These personality tests served their purpose in telling us more about ourselves while reinforcing what we may already know.
