American society is concern about the existence of importance of college in people's life. Now-a-days children start earning when they are in high-school. Due to that reason, they are less concern about joining a college or a university. Only the kids who have a specific, well- considered reasons are willing to go to college. It is important to go to college as it not only helps people to get decent job, but it also helps them to understand their dreams, to improve their capabilities, and to get better in doing what they like to do.
Many people consider college, "A waste of time and money". They believe that before joining the college, student need to prove themselves worldly, perceptive, cultured, and mature. There are some stories where graduate students have academic troubles like unable to get respectable jobs, have large college debts, uncaring professors, huge classes, or distracted advisors. By focusing on the demerits of going to college, people overlooks its merits.
According to Addison's own experience, she claims that college unconditionally allows students to begin (256). College provides a network of affordable future, accessible hope, and an option to dream (Addison, 258). College provide students a strong grounding and ability to think broadly. This way it not only helps them to get good jobs but also prepare them for life.

The people who are concern about the future debts should estimate the net cost, expenses, and the anticipated grant and loans, which they can afford. Students have variety of choices like private and public, two-years and four-years colleges. Many articles and interviews describe about an "college application essay" workshop for low-income students but none of them mention about the community colleges. Community college is a priceless springboard, where students enter with empty head and leave with the head full of dreams (256).
There are some students, from many backgrounds, who never get a chance to get college experience if it is not for community college. In contrast to what people think, many expert claims that college graduates are more employed than high-school diploma with higher salaries (Hrabowski, 260). The fastest growing jobs has a requirement of at least college degree because street smartness is not enough in some jobs.
Everybody knows that some people are impressively street smart but are poor in academic work. So, they are less willing to attend college or university. In the article "Hidden Intellectualism", Gerald Graff argues that school should encourage students to think critically, read and write about the personal interest The main point is schools assign readings that students do not want to think about, much less explore, or even write about. If school gives students to write on the topic they like, they would be more challenged, focused and interested in learning.
Even though students are allowed to write on the passion, it would be poorly, unreflectively written. According to Graff, "It would be useful if the student interest is made an object of academic study" (270). This way colleges and universities can educate broad range of students who can have a better future.
Sometimes, students are unable to find the institute that is best to them based on their academic preparation, aspiration and resources. Harbowski reports a statement made by President Barack Obama that, "Lack of counseling is one of the reason . . . those in the top quartile" (261). It is important that, students have strong counselling which help them to identify the best options. As described by hrabowski, there are many college preparatory initiatives such as Way2go, Collegebound Foundation, CollegeTracks, and many more, have proven their promises by helping students find the best possible options.
We all know, many people at the young age want to live independently. So, they are eager to earn money without wasting their time in going to college. Written in the journal New York Times that college is expensive and it results in unmanageable debts, people consider it as a waste of money. On the contrast, we have numerous alternatives to keep ourselves away from debts such as financial aids, in-campus jobs, and many more. As stated by Thomas Jefferson it is true that "Everybody should have an education proportional to their life" (Addison, 256).
The reasons to believe that college is not a good choice have been discounted again and again by experts. In light of the claims presented, it follows that college is a path to better life.
