In "The Stolen Party" Liliana Hecker assumes that Rosaura's party was stolen. This was evident because although she was invited as a guest to the party, she was really there to help. This was shown when Senora Ines gave Rosaura money instead of toys at the end of the party. This could hurt Rosaura in her quest to succeed in the future. The story begins with Rosaura's mother talking to her in a very abusive way. She said various things, thinking that it would make her daughter change her mind and not go to the birthday party. But Rosaura was adamant in her decision to attend the party.

Rosaura's mom tried to explain to her that she should not go to this party was not a place for her, but she insists on going because Luciana is her friend. Her mother realizes that Rosaura does not understand and tells her that, you are the maids daughter (1133), nothing else. Rosauras mother tried to get her daughter to realize that you do not live the same lifestyle as Luciana, but Rosaura was blind to that fact. When Rosaura mother told her that, it angered her and she went to her room. When Rosaura awoke the next morning, her mother had starched her best dress and that's when Rosaura realized that her mother was going to let her go to the party.

Rosaura went to extremes to get ready for this party and when the time came, she knew it was the happiest day of her life. When she eventually arrived at the party, Senora Ines told Rosaura how beautiful she looked and that was the start of a party that Rosaura will never forget. During the party, Mrs. Ines guided Rosaura, letting her participate in games and activities, although all the time Mrs. Ines knows that she expects her to help. Señora Inés gave Rosaura special duties only because she said that the others were too noisy and they might break something de Rosaura feel good and it gave her feeling of responsibility at the birthday party.

Senora Ines requests did not stop there. She also wanted her to help carry out the juice and help hand out the cake. During this time Rosaura didnt think of her help as service, she thought that Senora Ines knew she was the only child there capable of dong these activities well. Rosaura was one of the best in her class and really was not aware of what was happening to her when she was at the party. It is shown through her statements that she had goals that exceeded her mother, a maid. Rosaura wanted to be wealthy one day and she knew should would. As the party began to end, Rosaura was happy because she noticed that Senora Ines was giving gifts to al the other kids and she could not wait to receive hers.

She thought maybe she would receive two bags because she did such a good job at helping out. She then noticed Senora Ines walking towards her with two bags. When she got over by Rosaura, she handed one of the bags to a little boy standing by her and the other bag to a little girl. Then when she approached Rosaura, she ruffled through her handbag and pulled out two-dollar bills and handed them to her. Doing this made Rosaura feel less of a person because she was finally realizing that the only reason why she was invited was to help the mother.

Now Rosaura was standing there speechless pressed against her mother and the only thing that her mother can do is put her hands on her shoulders. Maybe her mother made such of an argument about her attending this party because she knew what was going to happen. Rosauras mother ha! d experienced things like this before and she probably allowed Rosaura to go to experience it first hand. Senora Ines knew that she had did something wrong with offering money to Rosaura, but she could not pull her hand back, which held the money. Rosaura expression told it all by not accepting the money. This was a story that taught everyone that read it class is something that will be around for a while. Class is something that should not be used and abused throughout the United States because of ones parents. Everyone should be given an opportunity whether you are adult or child. It was harsh the way Rosaura found this out, but maybe it is better it was sooner than later.
