The day after September 11th, people started to think how we could prevent it from happening again and improve airport security. I think a vital question came up in order to stop another September 11th scene. The question should Middle-Eastern males be subject to more stringent searches at airports than non Middle-Eastern males. I shall answer that question by using three articles. First one is The Case for using Racial Profiling at Airports, by Stuart Taylor Jr. He says Arab passenger might attempt to hijack an airplane. Second article At First Glance-Racial profiling, burning hotter, by John Derbyshier, who says we should have racial profiling in airports. The third one is One the Right, by William F. Buckley Jr., which appeared in National review on June 17, 2002 who says Arabs have been engaged in every identified act of terrorism.
The article The Case for using Racial Profiling at Airports, talks about using racial profiling at airports and how all people who have hijacked an airplane to kill Americans have been Arab men. The next article At First Glance-Racial profiling, burning hotter, which says using racial profiling in airports to protect our selves from harm and how racial profiling is a way to prevent terrorism. The third article On the Right, says racial profiling could be used in airports and it can happen without repealing the Bill of Rights.
In the article called The Case for using Racial Profiling at Airports, by Stuart Taylor Jr., which talks about how there is a higher mathematical probability of an Arab passenger is more willingly to try a mass murder suicide hijacking than blacks, Asians, or whites. It has been proven that Arab men who hijacked airplanes have only one purpose, which is to kill Americans. The government wants to prevent Arabs from mass-murder Americas and right now, only the Arabs have been willingly to try and attempt to hijack an airplane. I think right now we should focus our attention in doing a heavy search on Middle-Eastern men then non Middle-Eastern men who go through the airports.

The next article At First Glance-Racial profiling, burning hotter, by John Derbyshier, brings up the subject of the FAA rules saying if the majority of the passengers feel threaten with the presence of other passengers, the airline has to relocate those passengers. In September there were four males of Middle-Eastern appearance who made most of the passengers uncomfortable with their presence on the airplane. They were taken off the airplane because the passengers felt uncomfortable with them on the plane. I believe this problem would not of happened if the airport had used racial profiling so they could of done a stringent search on the four Middle-Eastern looking men.
The last article on the Right, by William F. Buckley Jr. points out it has been Middle-Eastern people who have been connected to acts of Islam related terrorism and not blacks, whites, or Hipics. An idea would be to check all Middle-Eastern males movements when they enter the airport and to make sure that their luggage has been thoroughly examined by officers. This is possible to do and can be accomplished without the repealing of the Bill of Rights.
In the first article I disagree with Attorney General John Ashcroft who said, Im against using race as a profiling component, we need to give a reason on why we want to search certain people. We can say because you are Middle-Eastern we would like to search you more throughly because we are worried that your people might try to hijack another airplane. Right now I strongly that we are doing a more in depth search on Middle-Eastern people because they are the ones who hijacked airplanes and killed innocent people.
In the second article I dont think our ancient liberties might be sacrificed for the desire for greater security. I dont see how searching Middle-Eastern males at airports is sacrificing peoples liberties. We are just making sure that their luggage; clothes and themselves have no weapons. In the airport they have a job were they can search you, its called security. Their top priority should be making sure there is no threat to human lives.
The last article says, there is a level of security not manageable by any intensification of body and luggage examinations. Just hearing those words makes me worry if we do have a bad security system why isnt anyone finding a way to improve the system? I think if we start doing a heavier search on Middle-Eastern males then we can say we have a security system that is manageable and will work to keep the Americans safe.
In conclusion, I know I would feel much better getting onto an airplane knowing that all of the Middle-Eastern males have been searched from head to toe. I wouldnt want to be one of the passengers who felt uncomfortable with the Middle-Eastern people on the airplane. It is a proven fact, mathematically an Arab person is more likely to take over an airplane than someone who isnt Arab. With this information shouldnt it allow us to say all Middle-Eastern males should be subjected to a more stringent search?
