It all started on a Wednesday during the last week of August when some of my friends unexpectedly decided to attend the Taylor swift Concert at the U.S Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. And so they forcefully made me buy the tickets for the show. However, on the bright side, I had never been to the U.S Bank Stadium, so I was looking forward to the experience. At first glance, the U.S Bank Stadium is a huge roof-covered stadium that has about 73,000 in seating capacity. As I entered the stadium, I was greeted by one of the representatives saying, “Thank you for coming and here is a gift from Taylor to show her appreciation”. It was a watch which would light up in various colors depending on the songs that were being played during the show.
As the show went on, there were a lot of dancing performances and visual 3D art which made each of her songs both vocally and visually entertaining. One such example would be about the large inflatable snakes used at each of the three-performing stage. In my opinion those snakes weren’t meant to scare anyone but were meant to symbolize the hate, discrimination and harsh critics about Taylor’s reputation in recent years. These big, cool and cute snakes were debuted during her famous “Look What You Made Me Do”, a song which she wrote in response to her haters. Then a massive viper appeared in a screen on the stage on both the sides, each snapping its jaws at Taylor and her dancing crew, which was then followed by a giant cobra puppet that rose up in a menacing way behind the performers, and its eyes glowing golden.Truly Exciting! What elements(s) didn't 'work' for you?
There were a few elements that didn’t work me, but the two most important ones were travel and parking. As of now, I live in Ames which is about 3 hours away from the U.S Bank Stadium in Minneapolis and don’t really like travelling by road a lot, so I got bored on my way to the show. Secondly, Minneapolis is a big city with a lot of traffic and the U.S Bank Stadium lies in the heart of the city. This means that on top of all the normal traffic in the heart of the city and with the 73,000 people attending the show not only from Minneapolis alone, but people from nearby states too. We found it extremely hard to find parking near the stadium. So, we had to park like 15 mins away from the stadium which was inconvenient. Which (if any) performers were especially effective/exciting and why? During Taylor swift’s world tour, she had announced that she would be having two more singers performing at the events.

Charli XCX, who is a brilliant British pop oddball famous for her song ‘Fancy’ with Iggy Azalea. And Camila Cabello - another famous performer, impressed everyone in the crowd with a cute Vikings jersey. She performed great with a particular set of songs she sang that had almost everyone on their feet dancing bringing a lot of energy into the crowd. Most importantly the one performer that outstood all others was Taylor Swift. She is immensely talented not only with her voice but with using other musical instruments like the piano and the guitar. She used the piano to singing slow and romantic songs and then used the guitar to sing country music as a tribute to her fans who were followers for a long time.
This for me was exciting and fun to watch.Did the space positively or negatively affect your perception of the event? How did other audience members respond to the event? What was your overall reaction to the event? I didn’t want to go for this event in the beginning, but as I reached the U.S Bank Stadium, people were pouring in gradually filling up every visible seat. As the show went on seeing all these people full of energy, dancing and having fun made me realize that it was a good decision to come for the show. So therefore, it positively affected my perception of the event.
The audience members were amazing, they were full of excitement, singing the lyrics for every song, chanting and dancing till the very end of the show. Overall, I would say that doing concerts in full stadium is no easy thing for any famous pop star. It requires complex organization and management to put on a good show. But I have to say this was by far the best concert I had ever been to in comparison to the likes of Katy Perry, Eminem etc. The one thing that I will not forget about the show would be the set of performances Taylor Swift put at the end by brining out all the performers and singing with them all together.
