As stated in class, culture refers to demographics, language, rituals, food, ceremonies, among other things. While culture is generally thought about in a large scale, primarily when thinking about an entire country or nationality of people, culture can also be defined in the scale of one person. Generally, my culture is similar to most other people as a result of being ingrained in culture on a large scale. At the same time, some unique traits about myself make my culture more unique to myself. The primary facets of my personal culture is my passion for baseball, my role as a college student and my religion.

If I were to use one term to define myself, it would be "baseball fan." In this facet of my culture, I spend a lot of time focusing on baseball, whether it occurs consciously or unconsciously. A lot of my inner thoughts are dominated my baseball, debating with myself which two players are better, and I spend more time talking about baseball than my friends would like. This also extends to my scheduling. My favorite way to fill my spare time is to attend a baseball game, if possible. The last important trait of this facet of my culture is the food. Due to this facet of my culture, I include hot dogs, pizza and sunflower seeds in my diet very often. Because of the facet of my culture for my passion of baseball, I dedicate a lot of time and thought to baseball, in addition to having my diet partially set by this facet of my culture.

One very important facet of my culture is the fact that I am a college student. However, since millions of people in the United States alone are currently attending college, this facet of my culture is the least unique to my personal culture. Yet, this facet largely affects my culture. For example, as a college student, I have to dedicate a large amount of my time to school, clubs and socialization. With this, I have to carefully schedule my time and have to double task very often. This results in my tendency to make a decision based on the time it takes to perform it.

Some examples include grabbing food that is quick to eat and skateboarding around campus instead of walking. Because of the facet of my culture of being a college student, I have to ensure that I managing my time correctly while performing a lot of different tasks.

Lastly, the facet of being Jewish largely shapes my culture. This facet shapes my moral code and impacts my decision making. Because of this, whenever I perform an action, I keep in mind whether it adheres to Jewish code and the importance of the extent which I follow the specific action. As a result of this facet of my culture, I participate in a Jewish studies group and attend Shabbat dinner weekly. While these are some aspects of this facet that shape my personal culture, I am not completely shaped by it as I eat bacon even though it is against Jewish code, to provide one example. Since the facet of being Jewish shapes what I do and the code that I live my life, it is a large part of my personal culture.

While my culture for the most part is similar to everyone else, unique facets of myself set me apart from other people, thus forming my own personal culture. The three most important facets of myself that create this are my passion for baseball, my role as a college student and my religion. All these facets shape what I think about, how I act and what I do, both on a day-to-day basis and when I have open time. As these facets all shape who I am as a personal, they are all primary parts of my personal culture.f
