“If you’re lucky enough to pick what you do, that is the greatest career you can have. Ultimately, that’s my goal: to have choices.” -James Marsden Boom! My whole life instantaneously paused. I couldn’t process anything. I gazed in the mirror only to find tears of sorrow. Then it struck me again “she’s dead” “mom is dead” I screamed. Aunt Rina rushed into the restroom and delicately said: “ it’s ok JP, I’m going to make sure everything’s going to be alright”. I began to wipe my face and walk into the great room, and there stand at least sixty people. I took a deep breath and began to greet everyone. I was trying my best to hide the pain. After receiving encouraging words from family and friends, I checked my email on my phone.
I couldn't believe my eyes. ZAR-Models emailed me, and they gave me a once-in-a-lifetime offer. I was presented with an opportunity to model for a well-known clothing company. The clothing company happened to be Polo Ralph Lauren. I couldn’t believe it. I chanted “YES!” “YES!” all around the house. Everybody gazed curiously as if I’d lost my mind. I then announced the good news, and instantly the sorrow turned into joy! I discuss the offer with my dad and aunt Rina, but they said go ahead you only live once. I began to contemplate and I made my final decision. I had to deny the offer. I denied the offer because, I’m currently enrolled in school, and I’m going through tragic times. The death of my mom lucy was a burden on me. Once I thought about the negative effects of accepting the offer, I began to get distressed.
The next day I received a phone call from ZAR. I explained to them why I couldn’t accept the offer, and they understood. Mrs. Vicky the coordinator, gave me another option. Once I’ve finished high school, I’d still be eligible to model for the company. Days passed by and I had to prepare myself for my mom's funeral. I watched everyone, mourner, then I noticed that doesn’t make anything any better. Suddenly a calm voice say” Be still and know that I am God”! I instantly began to relax, and take everything day by day. Today is the day of the burial January the sixth twenty sixteen. As I entered the church, I could hear the angels singing great praises. My little sister Madison, and Anastasia began to hug me, saying “please bring mom back”. It was a lot of me because I had to be the bigger person, and hold everything in. The mourning of my little sister took a toll on me. Once we sat in our seats, I began to pray.

While praying my phone began to ring. It was ZAR, I had no choice but to decline the call. Once the funeral ended, I returned the call. I felt as if the opportunity worked out for me because Mrs. Vicky gave me an ultimatum. She said she will always have an open slot available for me and she gave her deepest empathy. It showed perseverance. That opportunity changed my life because the company actually gave me a chance to try something new and it would’ve enabled me to finish my mother's legacy. The moral of the story never gives up when you’re losing the fight because things will work out for your good.
