In the beginning Mexico had control over Texas. Although this was true the Texans did not want to stay controlled any longer. So as planned the state of Texas started to rebel against mexican control.This caused wars, whether it was big or small it played a role in the fight for independence. Within these many battles, one of them is called the Siege of San Antonio.

Marching away from the previous battle that was displayed on October 2. The texan army drove out the mexicans from the city of Gonzales and won the battle. Now going on to fight in San Antonio the Texan army now has more than 300 troops to fight with. With these troops one has to have a leader, so a proposal was held and now they have someone to guide them.

Under the influence of a man named Stephen F. Austin, the men had marched on to San Antonio on october 12. As recorded, where there is the good there is also the enemy. Which in the case his name is General Martin Perfecto de Cos. This man was the mexican general that would lead the enemy troops of 650 men to fight the battle. The mexican army was already stationed in the town of Bexar an knew that the texans were coming. So they had fortified the whole town and planned to fight back.

On the other side with the texans, there journey continued until they got to Salado Creek where they set up camp. During the journey they collected more people to join the war and now had a total amount of 400 men, which included the famous men James Bowie, and Juan N. Seguin. Also as Seguin had joined he also brought a couple Mexican Texans with him to war. In another subsided mission James Bowie and a friend had went to capture some missions that were beneath San Antonio.

As Cos heard about this he sent about 100 men to go up against the Texans. During this period a meeting was held to discuss the further actions of the Texan army. In this, a man named Sam Houston had suggested to hold back the attack so they could plan, train the troops and also destroy the base at Bexar. None of this mattered though when Stephen F. Austin won the votes to continue the attack.

In the days of war more battles happened, the next battle to occur was at the Nuestra Senora de la Purisima Conception de Acuna Mission. As the commanding leader, Stephen F. Austin had sent two people to lead an attack on the place. They were James Bowie and James W. Fannin. These men led the fight with 90 men to have in battle. Although on the other hand, Gen. Cos had also sent some people to the battle. 275 men on the mexican side were lead to fight in another battle against the texans with Colonel Domingo de Ugartechea as their leader. Though the mexicans fought back they were no match for the texan army, the texans drove them off while they were near the bank of the San Antonio river.
