The success of Sew What? has been due to the major contributions of information technologies since Duckett decided to expanded the business to a more global clientele after she lost a contract due to the fact that she didn’t have a website that added credibility of her company. I would advise Megan Duckett to get Sew What? on the major social networks so that she could reach a broader audience and also be able to reach a younger age group then what she has been achieving. I would also suggest advertising on the major search engines which would also reach more people who would be interested in her business. Information technology would play a large role in the fact that if she is on a social network she able to communicate with a potential client and answer their questions much quicker and efficiently so that the client can make informative decision.

3. How could the use of information technology help a small business you know be more successful? Provide several examples to support you answer. A small business could use information technology to help speed up everything from the inventory of products to shipping and also save money. With online tools they can really help small businesses to achieve high profits and to earn client’s appreciation with rapid completion of orders to get the product to the customer. I’ve seen a lot of local small businesses go out of business when they could no longer compete with the local Wal-Mart. These small businesses didn’t have a peripheral inventory system which speeds up check out time and helps control shrinkage by tracking inventory, and without one they lose out to Wal-Mart, which can save on shrinkage with a peripheral inventory system.
