A Light in the Attic, and Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone. Well, Alice in Wonderland was banned from libraries In New Hampshire for promoting drug use. The Wizard of 02 was banned because apparently it sexist to give a strong leadership role to a female. A Light in the Attic was banned because "it encourages children to break dishes to avoid doing them". Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone was banned because it contained witchcraft. What, do they expect us to change it to Harry Potter and the Completely Normal Childhood that was in No Way Magical?

These classic children‘s books shouldn't be banned from public libraries because they have educational value and teach young children how to read; they contain powerful stories that shaped the world we know today. which should be passed down in generations, and it is narrow minded for parents to keep children from these books. It is a well know fact that a lot of books are either banned or challenged because of reference to drugs or alcohol, and anyone who believes in the censorship of books will tell you that. Little Red Riding Hood is a perfect example. Some editions of the book, there is a bottle of wine in Little Red Riding Hood's basket. and that this could promote alcohol and drug use. The bottle of wine is merely a cultural reference. considering that the book was published in Europe.

Where it is common to treat the sick, granny in this case, with alcoholic beverages. It is not, in any way, persuading children to abuse alcohol. The bottle of wine in not even mentioned in the book, it is only a small detail in the cover. Children‘s books also should not be banned because they contain powerful stories with ideas that should be worth spreading. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, gives children a new of way of thinking, bringing new ideas and perspectives to life as we know it, even to adults. If this or any other book is taken from a child. it will be much more difficult for him/her to advance in reading It Is also extremely selfish and narrow-minded for parents to want to take these wonderful books away from children. What parents don't understand. is that neither this book or any other is trying to persuade children with their different point of views. They're just telling them yes, they do exist and they should be taken Into consrderation.

It is extremely narrow-minded to take away these books from children simply because they introduce topics they parents are uncomfortable talking about. Parents do have the right to tell their children what to read and what not to. but what they don‘t have the right to do is to take away books from other people‘s children. In light of the above. it is evident that censorship is another form of blindness. because no one has the right to take away knowledge from you. It is a dangerous practice that Will not only interfere with a child's learning. but will also decrease his/her curiosity. For these and many other reasons. I believe that children's books should not be banned. because if their powerful stories. their educational purpose, and how it is narrow minded to want to take these books away from children.
