Tomb of the Triclinium
480 – 470 BCE
The tombs are intended to contain not only the remains of the deceased but also various grave goods or offerings deposited along with the deceased. The main painted scene is meant to represent the celebration of the funeral banquet to show that the funeral rites were not somber but rather a festive celebration of going to the afterlife.
