Jedi council
Jedi council
A Jedi Council was an organized body of Jedi, typically Masters, serving the Jedi Order as an administrative body that governed the Order’s academies, temples, and organizations such as the Jedi Service Corps.
Originally formed as a philosophical study group situated on the planet Tython, the Jedi became revered as guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy. As mystical wielders of the Force and of their signature lightsabers, their powers inspired all citizens in the galaxy. The calm, considered demeanor of the Jedi made them ideal brokers of peace in times of conflict or dispute. Yet, for all their power and diversity, the Jedi were few. Often beset by foes in times of doubt and confusion, undercurrents of evil often challenged their order and the establishment they served, the most notable being the Sith. These dark warriors were the antithesis of the Jedi, their sworn enemies, and the battle between them brought the galaxy to war more than once. In times of crisis, the Sith could even use the dark side of the Force to diminish the powers of the Jedi, and prevent them from sensing the future.

The way of the Jedi had become the way of wisdom and patience, backed by swift and decisive action when necessary. However, the Jedi Council sometimes showed what appeared to be a lack of decisiveness, such as during the Mandalorian Wars, preferring to work with events and patterns over the long term. Their inaction spurred Revan to fight back, and eventually led to the Jedi Civil War. To the rest of the galaxy, the line between Jedi and Sith became blurred during the conflict, and both sides were blamed for the destruction wrought on worlds such as Katarr, Telos IV, and Taris.

Through intricate planning and dazzling adaptability, one Sith Master (Senator Palpatine of Naboo) even rose to the office of Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic, engineered the Clone Wars, and undermined the Jedi until he could, in one swift, masterful stroke, destroy the Jedi Order and enslave the galaxy beneath his banner as Emperor of the new Galactic Empire. Yet, even this catastrophe failed to eradicate the Jedi completely, and, within a generation, they had returned to once again protect and nurture the galaxy with their wisdom and guidance in the form of the New Jedi Order. The Jedi would continue to protect and serve the galaxy through the horrors of the Yuuzhan Vong War and downfall of the New Republic and the establishment of the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances.

Youngling was a term that existed in Basic to refer to a child in a species-neutral way. Thus, the term youngling could apply to all forms of offspring, from humanoid children to insectoid grubs. The term “youngling” is also used to refer to a child undergoing Jedi training.
A Padawan, Padawan learner, Jedi Apprentice in Basic, or Jedi in Training, referred to a Force-sensitive adolescent who had begun one-on-one instruction with a Jedi Knight or Master outside of the Jedi academy. Having passed the Initiate Trials and ascended in rank from an Initiate, Padawans were given more responsibilities within the Jedi Order but were subject to the demands of their masters.[
Jedi Knight
A Jedi Knight referred to a member of the Jedi Order, who had completed their Jedi training as a student in the Jedi academy, in addition to one-on-one training as a Padawan and the completion of the Jedi Trials.

As a Knight and a full member of the Order, these individuals received assignments from the Jedi Councils and strove to find peace, and maintain order within the Galactic Republic. Making up the majority of the Order’s members, the public was familiar with this title more than any other, and, thus, many addressed any Jedi as “Knight”.

Jedi Master
Jedi Master
The title of Jedi Master was the highest formal rank obtainable by a member of the Jedi Order. Reserved for those who had shown exceptional devotion and skill as well as balance in the Force and often combat, only individuals who had been given the rank of Master could sit on the Jedi High Council, with few exceptions (such as the case of Anakin Skywalker), or any of the three other Councils.

Yoda was one of the most renowned and powerful Jedi Masters in galactic history. He was known for his legendary wisdom, mastery of the Force and skills in lightsaber combat. Yoda served as a member of the Jedi High Council in the last centuries of the Galactic Republic and as Grand Master oversaw the Jedi Order before, during and after the devastating Clone Wars. Following the First Battle of Geonosis, Yoda held the title of Master of the Order in addition to that of Grand Master. In his centuries of service to the galaxy and the Force, Grand Master Yoda had a hand in the training of nearly all the Jedi in the Order, including such luminaries as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ki-Adi-Mundi and Oppo Rancisis; all of whom would come to serve on the Jedi Council along with him.

Standing at about 66 cm tall, Yoda was a male member of a mysterious species, details of which he did not reveal. Yoda served as a member of the Jedi Order for centuries, eventually gaining a seat on the Jedi High Council, before reigning as the Grand Master of the Jedi. He had exceptional skills in lightsaber combat, most commonly employing whirling and acrobatic Form IV techniques. Yoda was a master of all but the Vaapad subset of Form VII (he had mastered the original Form VII variant known as Juyo) of lightsaber combat, and was considered by many as a Swordmaster.

Though arguably the Order’s greatest master of the Force and most skilled warrior, Yoda believed most firmly in the importance of instructing younger generations and never missed an opportunity to ensure his students learn from their experiences. At heart, the diminutive Jedi Master was a teacher; indeed, he instructed nearly all the Jedi in the order, to some extent, during his reign as Grand Master.[10]

Though Yoda was, arguably, the most highly Force-attuned member of the Order, he was not flawless. It was partially due to his failure to recognize that Supreme Chancellor Palpatine was actually responsible for the outbreak of the Clone Wars, and was in fact the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, which led to the Republic being overthrown and the Jedi Order being decimated. The Grand Master was among the few Jedi to survive Emperor Palpatine’s Great Jedi Purge, after the beginning of which, he went into exile on the swamp planet of Dagobah.

Later, before dying and becoming one with the Force in 4 ABY, the exiled Jedi Master was responsible for the instruction of Luke Skywalker who would use Yoda’s training as a basis for the creation of a New Jedi Order, after defeating the Sith. Following his death, Master Yoda retained his identity within the Force and was revered as among the most legendary Jedi Masters of all time by Skywalker’s reconstituted Order.

Mace windu
Mace windu
Mace Windu was a male Korun Jedi Master of legendary status who was the Master of the Order in the days leading up to the Battle of Geonosis, after which he gave the title to Grand Master Yoda. Hailing from the world of Haruun Kal, Mace Windu served as one of the last members of the Jedi High Council before the Great Jedi Purge. Serving on the Council, Windu was often regarded as second only to the Grand Master Yoda, though Windu was eight centuries Yoda’s junior. Windu’s wisdom and power were considered legendary by many, as were the weight of his words.

Widely considered one of the best swordsmen in the Jedi Order, Windu created Vaapad, the modern seventh form of lightsaber combat which he mastered. He was the only practitioner of the form who did not fall to the dark side. Windu served the Jedi Order his entire life, training several Jedi, including Depa Billaba and Echuu Shen-Jon.

It was Master Windu who led two hundred and twelve Jedi into combat at the Battle of Geonosis and slew the infamous bounty hunter Jango Fett. He continued to serve the Republic throughout the Clone Wars, often on the frontlines of fierce fighting, where he led Republic forces as a High Jedi General. He would distinguish himself across many battlefronts, most notably on Dantooine, though he would distinguish himself on Ryloth, Null, Boz Pity and Haruun Kal amongst others. In the final days of the war, Windu confronted and defeated Darth Sidious in a difficult duel, after being informed by Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker that Sidious and Supreme Chancellor Palpatine were the same person. He was ultimately betrayed by Skywalker and subsequently killed by Sidious, falling to his death from the window of Sidious’s office.

Obi-Wan Kenobi
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Obi-Wan Kenobi, later known as Ben Kenobi during his exile, was a legendary Jedi Master who played a significant role in the fate of the galaxy during the waning days of the Galactic Republic. He was the mentor of both Anakin and Luke Skywalker, training both in the ways of the Force. He had a long and tumultuous career that helped shape the fate of the entire galaxy.

Born in 57 BBY on Stewjon, Kenobi was taken as the Jedi apprentice of Qui-Gon Jinn and traveled on many missions with him. During the Invasion of Naboo in 32 BBY, Kenobi became the first Jedi in approximately 1,000 years to defeat a Sith Lord in combat when he defeated Darth Maul during the Second Battle of Theed, yet lost his master in the same duel. In 22 BBY, Kenobi found the Clone army on Kamino, and he was captured and almost executed in the Petranaki arena on Geonosis, along with Skywalker and Senator Padmé Amidala. The newly arrived clone troopers rescued them, but the following battle began the galaxy-wide Clone Wars.

Kenobi fought during many battles of the Clone Wars, and was one of the last members of the Jedi High Council. Even after his apprentice became a Jedi Knight, Kenobi and Skywalker fought together many times, becoming a widely renowned pair. Kenobi earned the sobriquet “The Negotiator” through his charm and calm demeanor as well as the quiet threat of his abilities with a lightsaber. During the war, an old enemy returned to haunt Kenobi: Darth Maul, the murderer of Qui-Gon Jinn. With aid of his brother, Savage Opress, the revived Sith Lord went to create a criminal empire, all the while plotting revenge on his most despised adversary. Kenobi clashed blades with Maul on occasion across the galaxy. He was devastated as Maul slew the Jedi’s past love interest, Duchess Satine Kryze of Mandalore, in cold blood, yet remained strong throughout the conflict. Later in the war, Skywalker saved his life in a battle fought over Coruscant, after which Kenobi killed General Grievous on Utapau. However, he was soon betrayed, as Commander Cody, following Order 66, opened fire on him.

Kenobi met up with his old mentor Grand Master Yoda, and the two realized that not many Jedi had survived the attacks. The two returned to the Jedi Temple, where they learned the agonizing truth: Skywalker, now lost to the dark side of the Force, had led an attack to kill all Jedi remaining in the Jedi Temple, following orders from Chancellor Palpatine, the ruler of the successor of the Republic, the Galactic Empire. Kenobi traveled to Mustafar in order to duel his former apprentice and friend, now the Sith Lord Darth Vader. Finally, Vader was taken in by a storm of lava, and Kenobi remorsefully left him to die. While Yoda, one of the few other Jedi to survive the Great Jedi Purge, went into exile, Kenobi took the son of Skywalker and Amidala, Luke Skywalker, to live with the Lars family on Tatooine. He became a friend of the young Skywalker as he grew up, but he did not tell Skywalker his actual identity.

Kenobi re-emerged in 0 BBY, shortly before the Battle of Yavin. After Leia Organa, Vader’s daughter and Luke Skywalker’s twin sister, was captured by the Empire, she contacted him desperately. Kenobi gave Luke his father’s lightsaber and traveled with him to Alderaan in Han Solo’s Millennium Falcon, only to realize that the Death Star had destroyed the planet. Kenobi entered the Death Star with Luke, Han, Chewbacca, C-3PO, and R2-D2, in order to rescue Organa, but Darth Vader sensed his presence. In a duel with his former apprentice, Kenobi gave up his life to allow Luke to escape, vanishing into the Force the moment Vader struck him down with his weapon. Three years later, his spirit returned to Luke to lead him to Dagobah in order to learn from Master Yoda. He even carried out his role as a mentor to the younger Jedi beyond his natural life through use of the Force, remaining a significant influence on Luke Skywalker’s foundation of the New Jedi Order.

Anakin skywalker
Anakin Skywalker was a Force-sensitive Human male who served the Galactic Republic as a Jedi Knight and later served the Galactic Empire as the Sith Lord Darth Vader. Born to the slave Shmi Skywalker in 41.9 BBY, Anakin was conceived by midi-chlorians, the symbiotic organisms that allowed individuals to touch the Force, and he and his mother were brought to the desert planet of Tatooine to be the slaves of Gardulla the Hutt. They soon ended up as the property of the Toydarian Watto, and Skywalker exhibited exceptional piloting skills and a reputation for being able to build and repair anything even at a young age. In 32 BBY, Skywalker encountered the Jedi Qui-Gon Jinn and Padmé Amidala, and he helped them secure the parts they needed for their starship by winning the Boonta Eve Classic podracing event—only to learn that he had also won his freedom in doing so.

Reluctantly leaving his mother behind, Skywalker accompanied Jinn and his group to the Republic’s capital of Coruscant and participated in the Battle of Naboo, helping to free Amidala’s homeworld from the armies of the Trade Federation. While Jinn was killed during the battle, Jinn’s student Obi-Wan Kenobi followed Jinn’s wishes and took on Skywalker as his Padawan, and much of the Jedi Council believed that Skywalker was the Chosen One of Jedi prophecy: one who would bring balance to the Force by destroying the Sith Order. Skywalker and Kenobi had a number of adventures during the Padawan’s decade of training to become a Jedi, but as the Separatist Crisis threatened to tear the Republic apart in 22 BBY, Skywalker was reunited Amidala when he was assigned to protect her from assassins. The two grew close during the course of the assignment, though they were caught up in the Battle of Geonosis and the beginning of the Clone Wars between the Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Losing an arm during the fighting, Skywalker received a cybernetic replacement, and he and Amidala were secretly married in the days after the battle despite the Jedi Code’s restrictions on attachments.

During the Clone Wars, which raged for the next three years, Skywalker was granted the rank of Jedi Knight and became known to the public as the “Hero with No Fear.” Taking on the Togruta Ahsoka Tano as his apprentice, Skywalker fought alongside Kenobi and his fellow Jedi in scores of battles, and his friendship with Supreme Chancellor Palpatine deepened despite the Jedi Order’s wariness of Palpatine’s rapid acquisition of further powers during the Clone Wars. Throughout the Clone Wars, Skywalker’s anger and sense of loss pushed him ever closer to the dark side of the Force, and his visions of Amidala dying in childbirth in 19 BBY made him desperate to find a way to save his wife. Palpatine, who was in fact the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, manipulated Skywalker into becoming his apprentice with the promise of saving Amidala, and Skywalker became the Sith Lord Darth Vader as Palpatine transformed the Republic into the Galactic Empire and decimated the Jedi Order.

Vader and Kenobi clashed on Mustafar after Vader attacked his wife in the belief that she had betrayed him, and Vader was left limbless and ravaged by fire at the end of their battle. Encased in a suit of life-sustaining black armor and believing his wife to be dead, Vader embraced his role as the Emperor’s right hand and enforcer, hunting down Jedi survivors and enforcing the will of the Empire for years to come. The Sith Lord trained a number of secret apprentices and Dark Jedi, though his plans to overthrow his master had not advanced far when the Galactic Civil War erupted between the Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic in 2 BBY. In 0 BBY, the Death Star—the Empire’s greatest superweapon—was destroyed by a young Rebel pilot despite Vader’s efforts, and Vader became obsessed with discovering the pilot’s identity, only to learn that it was Luke Skywalker: his own son, born before Amidala’s death.

Vader continued to pursue both Skywalker and the Alliance over the next three years, finally luring his son into a trap on the mining colony of Cloud City in 3 BBY where the two dueled. Vader revealed his identity to Skywalker, though his son refused to join him and escaped. When Darth Sidious learned of Skywalker’s existence, he set in motion his own plans to recruit Skywalker and thereby replace Vader, but Skywalker surrendered himself to Imperial forces on the forest moon of Endor in 4 ABY in hopes of redeeming his father and turning him back to the light side. In a final duel on the second Death Star as the Battle of Endor raged around them, Skywalker and Vader fought each other, and Vader refused his son’s attempts to redeem him, learning that Skywalker had a twin sister named Leia in the process. Skywalker defeated his father but refused to kill him, and when Sidious attempted to kill the young man, Vader—moved by his son’s love—abandoned the dark side and sacrificed himself to destroy the Emperor, fulfilling the prophecy of the Chosen One. Mortally wounded, Anakin made peace with his son and became one with the Force, though his reputation, his legacy, and his family endured for decades afterwards.

Ahsoka Tano
Ahsoka Tano
Ahsoka Tano, nicknamed Snips by her master, was a Togruta female from the planet Shili who trained as a Jedi apprentice during the Clone Wars, the conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Tano was assigned to Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker by Jedi Grand Master Yoda, and she demonstrated an eagerness to prove herself worthy to be his apprentice. Tano was involved in the defeat of the Separatist army on the planet Christophsis and was important to Republic efforts during the Battle of Teth. Along with Skywalker, Tano was instrumental in acquiring the Republic’s safe passage through Hutt Space, due to her part in rescuing the son of Jabba the Hutt, which ensured an alliance between the Republic and the Hutt clans.

Later, Tano and her master achieved many things during the war including stopping the Blue Shadow Virus, freeing Togruta slaves from Kiros, saving her Master and many others on multiple occasions, and even halting a plot masterminded by Darth Sidious himself. She also engaged some of most deadly people in the galaxy, most notably Asajj Ventress, General Grievous, and Cad Bane several times, always surviving without any serious injury. Tano had a brief brush with the dark side on Mortis after being infected with it by the Son and even died, but she was resurrected by the Daughter. Tano formed close bonds with many members of the Order, which included Plo Koon, Barriss Offee and Obi-Wan Kenobi, as well as people outside the Order such as Padmé Amidala and Lux Bonteri, to whom she developed a romantic attraction.

Around 20 BBY, Tano’s friend Barriss Offee, who believed the Jedi Order to be evil, and corrupt, and overly belligerent, orchestrated the bombing of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, killed the bomber, Letta Turmond, and caused the deaths of clone troopers while framing Tano for these crimes. While running away from Republic authorities and Skywalker, who still believed her to be innocent, Tano met her longtime nemesis Asajj Ventress and briefly allied with her, since both were on the run from their masters. Tano was led by Offee, the only Jedi whom she still saw as an ally, into a trap at an abandoned Coruscant warehouse in Coruscant’s Undercity, where she was captured by Skywalker’s forces. The Jedi High Council then expelled Tano from the Jedi Order and turned her over to the Republic for trial. Tano came very close to a conviction and death sentence, but she was acquitted at the last minute by the forced confession of a captured Offee. While the Council pardoned Tano and offered to bring her back into the Order, Tano refused, and she left the Jedi Temple.

Luke skywalker
Luke skywalker
Luke Skywalker was a legendary war hero and Jedi who helped defeat the Galactic Empire in the Galactic Civil War and helped found the New Republic, as well as the New Jedi Order.

Born in 19 BBY as the son of the fallen Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker and the Queen and Senator of Naboo, Padmé Amidala, Luke was raised on Tatooine and hidden from Emperor Palpatine and his father, who had recently become Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith. In 0 BBY, Skywalker’s life changed forever. A chance purchase of two droids, R2-D2 and C-3PO, led to him to receive training in the ways of the Force from Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and to meet Han Solo, and Princess Leia Organa, who was, unbeknownst to him, his twin sister. Skywalker then destroyed the first Death Star and joined the Rebel Alliance.

Over the next few years, he fought in many of the most important battles of the Galactic Civil War, helping to found Rogue Squadron and fighting Imperial forces across the galaxy. In 3 ABY, Skywalker received Jedi training from Yoda, and learned from Vader that the Sith Lord was his father. One year later, he fought in the Battle of Endor, and succeeded in turning his father back to the light. Thanks to Skywalker, Palpatine was killed, and the Empire was dealt a crippling blow. One year later, the New Republic was formed.

Throughout the succeeding decades, Skywalker helped keep peace throughout the galaxy as the New Republic slowly defeated small remnants of the Empire. When Palpatine returned in the form of several clone bodies, Luke temporarily fell to the dark side and became the resurrected Emperor’s apprentice but was later redeemed with the help of his friends, and he continued with his goal of reviving the Jedi Order. In 11 ABY, he founded the New Jedi Order, and began teaching Force-sensitives about the ways of the Force at the Jedi Praxeum, fulfilling his destiny as the first of the new Jedi. In the midst of this rebirth came numerous challenges for Skywalker and his apprentices, including the Black Fleet Crisis, the Almanian Uprising, and the lure of Waru, but Skywalker, aided by fellow Jedi and his friends, was able to overcome each trial. Meanwhile, after a long series of failed relationships, Luke married fellow Jedi and former Emperor’s Hand Mara Jade in 19 ABY.

Several years after the conclusion of the Galactic Civil War, Skywalker found himself, yet again, on the front lines. Skywalker served as the leader of the New Jedi Order, during the Yuuzhan Vong War, an invasion by the extra-galactic Yuuzhan Vong species. During the war, Skywalker’s wife gave birth to a son, who they named Ben, in memory of his first mentor of the force: Ben Kenobi. Skywalker endured countless battles as the New Republic was first pushed back, including the fall of his home on Coruscant. However, the newly reformed government, labeling itself the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances, regrouped and helped push back the alien invaders. In the final stages of the war, Skywalker sought out the living world of Zonama Sekot, convincing the planet to join the Galactic Alliance in a final battle on Coruscant, in which Skywalker personally led the assault on Supreme Overlord Shimrra Jamaane’s citadel and slew Jamaane. Combined with the fact that his nephew, Jacen Solo, would soon after kill Jamaane’s puppet master, Onimi, the Yuuzhan Vong were defeated and the war was ended.

After the Yuuzhan Vong War, Skywalker maintained a prominent role among the Jedi into the Dark Nest Crisis, which saw him call a Jedi convocation to deal with strife within the Order. Faced with disunity, Skywalker assumed the title of Grand Master and direct control over the reestablished Jedi Council. Despite the successful handling of the Dark Nest Crisis and the Swarm War, lasting peace was yet to be achieved, as the Second Galactic Civil War broke out a few years later. Skywalker was plunged into a dark time as his nephew, Jacen Solo, became a Sith apprentice under his old adversary Lumiya and slew his beloved Mara. His grief was further compounded by his son’s treading near the dark side as well, but he continued to lead the Jedi, forming the Jedi Coalition to oppose the rule of the Alliance by his nephew, now a Sith Lord by the name of Darth Caedus. With Skywalker’s aid, Caedus was killed by his twin sister Jaina, ending the war and restoring peace to the galaxy.

In the aftermath of the war, Natasi Daala ascended to the position of Chief of State and fostered a wide spread anti-Jedi sentiment resulting in tensions between the Jedi Order and her government. Daala ultimately had Skywalker arrested for dereliction of duty, and in exchange for his freedom, he was exiled and forbidden from involving himself in the affairs of the Jedi Order. Skywalker and his son embarked on an odyssey across the galaxy in order to discover the causes of Jacen Solo’s fall to the dark side. During their journey, the Skywalkers encountered the Lost Tribe of Sith, as well as a malevolent dark side entity known as Abeloth. With the help of his son and the rest of the Jedi, Skywalker returned to his position as Grand Master. Skywalker and his allies then repelled the Sith threat, and with the help of an unlikely Sith ally, defeated Abeloth, preventing another disaster that could endanger the galaxy. Eventually, Luke passed away, and became one with the Force.

aayla secura
aayla secura
Aayla Secura, born Aaylas’ecura, was a female Rutian Twi’lek Jedi Master in the later days of the Republic, who served with distinction as a General during the Clone Wars. She served as a Padawan under the tutelage of Quinlan Vos, and later, Vos’ own master Tholme. Both Secura and Vos survived a brush with the dark side early in their Jedi training, though she later proved herself worthy of knighthood.

After Secura was promoted to the level of Jedi Knight, the Clone Wars broke out, and she was one of many Jedi to participate in the First Battle of Geonosis. She served in various campaigns, surviving such infamous battles as those on Hypori and Kamino. Indeed, such were her achievements that Secura was promoted to the level of Jedi Master near the beginning of the conflict.

As a Jedi Master, Aayla Secura led the Republic war efforts at Quell and was instrumental in the defense of Kamino and later Maridun. However, despite her undoubted prowess, Secura met her end during the instigation of Order 66 on Felucia. Master Secura was remembered for generations by the people of the worlds she had helped during her life, and stories of her were known to have become part of the culture of many such people.

ki adi mundi
Ki-Adi-Mundi was a male Cerean Jedi Master of the Jedi Order who served on the High Council in the twilight years of the Galactic Republic and played a major role in several battles during the Clone Wars. Born in 92 BBY, Mundi was discovered at age four by the Jedi An’ya Kuro and became one of the few permitted by the Jedi Order to be trained starting beyond infancy. After more than two decades as a Padawan to Master Yoda, Mundi was named a Jedi Knight and returned to Cerea to liberate his home village from a gang of raiders. Assigned the Jedi Watchman of the Cerean sector, Mundi was granted a rare exception to the Jedi Order’s ban on marriage due to his species’ low birth rate and had a polygamous family of five wives and seven children, although he tried to avoid developing emotional attachments to them.

Like many Cereans of his generation, Mundi favored his home world’s isolation from the galaxy, speaking out against offworlder technology and encouraging Cerea to maintain their independence from the Republic. Mundi was held in high regard by members of the Jedi High Council, on which he occasionally sat in during the absence of Master Micah Giiett. He was eventually offered a permanent seat on the Council despite not yet having obtained the rank of Jedi Master. Before accepting, Mundi rescued his daughter Sylvn from the captivity of an agent of the crime lord Jabba Desilijic Tiure, and in doing so uncovered a secret Cerean smuggling ring and illegal Trade Federation activities. Shortly after formally joining the Council in 33 BBY, Mundi was sent to seek the lost Jedi Sharad Hett on Tatooine. Following Hett’s death, Mundi agreed to continue the Jedi training of his son, A’Sharad Hett.

While Mundi and Hett grew close, the Cerean eventually agreed to turn his training over to Kuro after Hett felt tempted by the dark side of the Force during a lightsaber duel with bounty hunter Aurra Sing. As the Confederacy of Independent Systems uprising threatened the stability of the Republic, Mundi was among the Jedi dispatched to Geonosis in 22 BBY to confront the Separatist Droid Army, marking the beginning of the Clone Wars. Now a Jedi General commanding the Galactic Marines branch of the Grand Army of the Republic, Mundi participated in several major battles, including the battle of Hypori, where he barely survived a lightsaber duel against General Grievous. Mundi’s entire family was killed during the Battle of Cerea, but the Jedi overcame his grief by further committing to his Jedi duties. He briefly assumed the Jedi training of Anakin Skywalker following Obi-Wan Kenobi’s presumed death.

Mundi also dueled the Dark Jedi Asajj Ventress on Coruscant after exposing a spy from within the Galactic Senate working with her. Along with Kenobi and Luminara Unduli, Mundi led an assault against several Separatist battle droid foundries on Geonosis. As the Clone Wars approached conclusion, Mundi suggested to the Jedi High Council that Supreme Chancellor Palpatine may have become too powerful and that the Jedi Order might need to assume control of the Republic for an interim period until a transition of power could commence. Mundi was leading the Galactic Marines to battle on Mygeeto in 19 BBY when Palpatine began the Great Jedi Purge with Order 66, resulting in Mundi being shot to death by his own clone troopers.

Saesee tiin
Saesee tiin
Saesee Tiin was a male Iktotchi Jedi Master and a member of the Jedi High Council in the last days of the Galactic Republic. Having apprenticed under the esteemed Jedi Master Omo Bouri, Tiin rarely spoke and kept to himself. Never choosing to take a Padawan himself, Tiin took the rank of Jedi General in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars.

Tiin fought in the Stark Hyperspace War in 46 BBY during the fifth battle on Qotile and also participated in the Yinchorri Uprising of 33 BBY. Some time after that, he and other Jedi tracked down the terrorist Nebula Front movement to their base on Asmeru. Tiin fought on many battlefronts during the Clone Wars on planets such as Lola Sayu, Gwori, Boz Pity, Diado, Geonosis, and The Rig.

A renowned starfighter ace, Tiin had been born on Iktotch, the moon of Iktotchon. Because of the battering winds of the moon, Tiin’s species had adapted toughened skin and blunt features. A natural telepath, Master Tiin failed to foresee his demise at the hands of the secret Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Sidious, who in reality, was Supreme Chancellor Palpatine of the Galactic Republic. Tiin’s death on Coruscant in 19 BBY alongside that of Mace Windu, Kit Fisto and Agen Kolar to Darth Sidious marked the start of the Great Jedi Purge and Order 66.

Luminara Unduli
Luminara Unduli
Luminara Unduli (Left) was born on the planet Mirial, a cold, dry, and despondent world oppressed by the Trade Federation. Detected to be Force-sensitive, Unduli was taken into the Jedi Order at a young age, and so lived through little of the misery known to most Mirialans.[6]

At the Coruscant Jedi Temple, Unduli received training in the ways of the Force, becoming skilled in manipulating it and honing her skill with a lightsaber. Selected as a Padawan by a fellow Mirialan in correspondence with a long-held tradition insisted upon by her people, Unduli constructed a green-bladed lightsaber and grew strong in the Force. Upon achieving the rank of Jedi Knight, she dedicated herself to physical disciplines; her patterned tattoos were a traditional Mirialan reflection of this somatic commitment. She trained heavily to improve her corporal prowess, working over the course of years to enhance her flexibility and agility in combat. Adorning in traditional Mirialan robes, Jedi Unduli trained independently as a Jedi Guardian, though she was a skilled and respected Diplomat and adviser to high profile Senators in the Galactic Senate.[1]

Eventually, Jedi Unduli became a Master in the years prior to the Invasion of Naboo.[7] When it came time to select a Padawan, Master Unduli honored the same cultural traditions her Master had, which required that any Mirialan child given to the Jedi Order be trained by Mirialan masters. Circa 28 BBY, Master Unduli selected the young Initiate Barriss Offee as an apprentice.[8]

Around the year 22 BBY, Luminara Unduli and another Jedi Master named Kit Fisto served as Jedi Advisors to the Supreme Chancellor Palpatine,[9] a position that had once been occupied by Master Jorus C’baoth when Palpatine was still the senator of the Chommell sector.

Barriss offee
Barriss offee
Barriss Offee was a Mirialan Jedi Knight and General during the Clone Wars. A skilled Jedi Healer, Offee utilized her abilities at a Rimsoo on Drongar during the galactic conflict. Trained by Jedi Master Luminara Unduli in the years leading up to the Clone Wars, Offee fought in tandem with her master in skirmishes on Ansion and Ilum. She carried a blue lightsaber and was a practitioner of Soresu.

Around 20 BBY, after growing disillusioned with the Jedi Order during the Clone Wars, she orchestrated the bombing of the Jedi Temple, for which she framed Ahsoka Tano, resulting in Tano leaving the Order after her innocence was proved and Offee was exposed as the real bomber. Offee met her demise during Order 66 in 19 BBY on Felucia.

Coleman Trebor
Coleman Trebor was a male Vurk from Sembla, who served as a Jedi Master and Council member of the Jedi Order during the waning years of the Galactic Republic. Trebor was one of few Vurks to earn galactic fame some time before the Invasion of Naboo, after averting a number of interplanetary disputes without bloodshed. Something of a celebrity with the media, Trebor was well-connected, with numerous diverse contacts located throughout the galaxy.

In 27 BBY, after the death of Yarael Poof, Trebor was chosen for a place on the Jedi High Council, and he participated in many missions during the Separatist Crisis; along with fellow Jedi Shaak Ti, he foiled an assassination attempt on Chancellor Palpatine in 24 BBY, and participated in the Battle of Antar 4 over a year later.

In 22 BBY, Trebor traveled to the world of Geonosis along with a strike team of over two hundred Jedi to rescue Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Padmé Amidala from the clutches of Count Dooku, the leader of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Trebor participated in the skirmish in the Petranaki arena, using his lightsaber to slay many Geonosians and destroy many Separatist battle droids. When he realized an opportunity to kill Dooku, he leapt onto Archduke Poggle the Lesser’s viewing box, taking the Count by surprise. However, Dooku’s right-hand-man, Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett, fired upon Trebor with his blaster pistol, sending him to his death as he fell many meters.

It was later said that, had Trebor been successful, the Clone Wars might have been averted. Trebor was succeeded on the Jedi High Council by Kit Fisto after his death on Geonosis.

Even piell
Even Piell was a long-lived Lannik Jedi Master who served on the Jedi High Council during the waning days of the Galactic Republic. A native of the war-torn planet Lannik, he was taken from poverty and trained as a Jedi Knight at a young age, proving to be a fierce warrior and talented Force-user. He became a Master and was given a long-term seat on the Jedi Council, serving on the Council during the Stark Hyperspace War, the Yinchorri Uprising, and the Eriadu Trade Summit. Piell also occasionally served with the Palace Guard of his species’s prince and foiled an assassination attempt on the prince—at the cost of one of his eyes.

In 32 BBY, Piell was part of a team of Jedi sent to Malastare to conduct peace negotiations between the newest prince of Lannik, R’cardo Sooflie IX, and the Red Iaro revolutionaries, who wanted the fighting to stop. The negotiations proved fruitless, and several of Sooflie’s guardsmen—one of whom Piell had once served alongside—attempted to assassinate the Jedi to win support for the Red Iaro. Piell managed to foil the attempt and later helped save Sooflie from an attempt on his life by the remaining Red Iaro members. During Piell’s continuing service on the Council, the Corellian Jax Pavan became his Padawan learner.

When the Clone Wars broke out on Geonosis, Piell was there to fight the rising Confederacy of Independent Systems, and he served in many other battles during the war. At one point, Piell and his Republic Navy captain, Wilhuff Tarkin, were captured by the Confederacy for their discovery of the Nexus Route hyperlane. Although they and their clone troopers escaped from imprisonment in the Citadel, Piell was fatally wounded by an anooba. Before passing on, Piell sent his half of the Nexus Route intelligence to the Jedi Council through Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano. Piell was laid to rest on Lola Sayu, where his sacrifice could be remembered.

Qui Gon Jinn
Qui Gon Jinn
Qui-Gon Jinn was a revered, yet maverick and unconventional Human male Jedi Master. He was the Padawan to Count Dooku, and the mentor to Obi-Wan Kenobi and briefly Anakin Skywalker. Jinn often placed himself in conflict with the Jedi High Council. He was deeply attuned to the Living Force, which contributed to him frequently taking side trips to help seemingly weak and useless life-forms. Despite his opposition to the council, he was regarded by many Jedi as sharp-witted and possessing great wisdom.

Jinn served the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order his entire life, participating in the Stark Hyperspace War and actions against the Nebula Front, most famously during the Invasion of Naboo. It was Jinn who discovered the Chosen One, Anakin Skywalker, on Tatooine during this crisis and was largely responsible for championing his training. Even after his death at the hands of Darth Maul, he played a vital role in the legacy of the Jedi Order.

Plo koon
Plo koon
Plo Koon was a Kel Dor male from the planet Dorin who became a Jedi Master and a lifetime member of the Jedi High Council, holding the position from after the Stark Hyperspace War to the end of the Galactic Republic in 19 BBY. During the Clone Wars, Koon served as a Jedi General in the Grand Army of the Republic, leading soldiers in campaigns, fighting on Geonosis and at Kaliida Shoals amongst others. Koon was also an accomplished starfighter pilot.

Koon had an uncle and a niece, Sha Koon, who was also a member of the Jedi Order, and served as a personal communicator between the Jedi strike force and the rest of the Republic during the Stark Hyperspace War. He was a close friend of fellow Masters Qui-Gon Jinn (whom he fought alongside during the Stark Hyperspace War), Micah Giiett, Ki-Adi-Mundi and noted fighter pilot Saesee Tiin.

Plo Koon was shot down over Cato Neimoidia by his clone troopers, killing him in compliance with Order 66.

Adi Gallia
Adi Gallia was a female Tholothian Jedi Master during the twilight years of the Galactic Republic. Gallia was a respected member of the Jedi High Council, who served on that august body in the years leading up to the Clone Wars, as well as some time into that devastating conflict. Though the daughter of Corellian parents, Master Gallia was notable for wearing a traditional Tholoth headdress, suggesting she had ancestors from the planet Tholoth.

As a revered Jedi Master of the High Council, Gallia was naturally an exceptionally skilled member of the Order, who completed several notable assignments during her service to the galaxy. Gallia was a key player in the Stark Hyperspace War and served as the chief negotiator during talks aimed at mending ties between warring factions on Malastare. Gallia also participated in the opening battle of the Clone Wars, where her actions saved countless lives.

Despite her undoubted skill in combat, Master Gallia eventually fell to the blade of Nightbrother Savage Opress while fighting alongside Obi-Wan Kenobi on Florrum in 20 BBY. She was succeeded on the Jedi Council by her cousin, Stass Allie.

Agen Kolar
A Zabrak Jedi Master, and one of the Jedi who accompanied Mace Windu to arrest Chancellor Palpatine, Agen Kolar was a zabrak jedi master known for his skill with a lightsaber and his willingness to use it. He was appointed to the Jedi high council sixteen months after the battle of Geonosis.
Clone Trooper
Clone Trooper
Clone troopers were an army of identical, genetically-modified clones, created to serve in the Grand Army of the Republic during the full-scale intergalactic conflict that came to be known as the Clone Wars. Grown at an accelerated rate and raised in the laboratories and facilities of Kamino, the clone troopers were trained throughout the first ten years of their lives to become one of the most efficient military forces in galactic history. Bred for the sole purpose of combat, the clones were indoctrinated with unwavering obedience to the Galactic Republic and—more specifically—their Commander-in-Chief, the Supreme Chancellor.

For roughly three years, the clone troopers fought to defend Republic sovereignty against the Separatist rebellion. Throughout the conflict, the members of the Jedi Order served as commanders and generals of the Grand Army and, thus, they served alongside their clone soldiers on many occasions. But the covert Sith plot to seize control of the galaxy, masterminded by the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, effectively caused the clones to betray and destroy the Republic that they were sworn to protect with their lives. Sidious, in his public guise as Chancellor Palpatine, issued Order 66 to the clone troopers on the eve of the Clone Wars’ end.

The contingency order declared that all Jedi were traitors to the Republic and, hence forward, subject to summary execution. Due to their inability to disobey any order, the clone troopers carried out the Chancellor’s command without question. Though a small percentage of clones ignored the order, the vast majority of the clones executed their unsuspecting Jedi officers, many of whom had come to trust the clones with their lives.

In the aftermath of the Jedi Order’s near destruction and the sterilization of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, Palpatine abolished the Old Republic and instituted the Galactic Empire in its place, with himself as emperor of the galaxy. Among the many new reforms that symbolized Palpatine’s New Order, the Republic clone troopers were re-designated as Imperial stormtroopers. Without the guidance of the Jedi, the first generation of stormtroopers quickly established a reputation as the brutal enforcers of a galactic-spanning despotic regime.

Phase 1 Armor
Early clone troopers wear identical white armor-except for commander`s, who have colored markings. This armor is bulky and uncomfortable for long-term combat. Phase II incorporated all of its predecessor’s systems in addition to polarized lenses, padding, and stronger, lighter armor plates. It could also support more modular attachments, making it superior to its predecessor. It was far more comfortable for Humans to wear than its predecessor, since the Kaminoans had become more familiar with Human anatomy.[source?] Unlike early iterations of the Phase I armor, color was used to denote unit affiliation instead of rank.

Phase II armor was introduced around 21 BBY, and slowly replaced Phase I armor in the months following. Phase II armor was the basis of the stormtrooper armor later worn by the soldiers of Emperor Palpatine’s Empire. Another variant of the Phase II armor was the Katarn armor. ARC trooper armor was also modified to be Phase II.

The new armor incorporated a more advanced air filtration and oxygen supply system, polarized lenses, and an annunciator to make speech more comprehensible. In addition, the boots were magnetized and incorporated a grav-field alternator to ensure stability. Another useful feature was that the armor and the bodysuit could be pressurized, allowing the clones to fight longer in a vacuum environment than its predecessor.

Phase 2 Armor
This armor can survive explosions and blaster hits, and the foot casing can be magnetized . Phase 2 armor is easily personalized to denote unit affliction, or painted in camouflage colors. Phase II incorporated all of its predecessor’s systems in addition to polarized lenses, padding, and stronger, lighter armor plates. It could also support more modular attachments, making it superior to its predecessor. Clone Commander Cody
CC-2224, nicknamed “Cody,” was a clone marshal commander assigned to High Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi of the Grand Army of the Republic throughout the Clone Wars.

The leader of the 7th Sky Corps, though he typically took personal command of the 212th Attack Battalion, Cody was a loyal and competent soldier who always followed his orders. He was a no-nonsense commander who was very skilled in tactics. Clone Commander Fox
CC-1010, nicknamed “Fox,” was a clone trooper commander of the famed Coruscant Guard during the Clone Wars. Around 22 BBY, Fox assisted Senator Padmé Amidala in the capture of Ziro Desilijic Tiure, the mastermind who kidnapped Rotta and uncle to Jabba Desilijic Tiure, during the Raid on Ziro the Hutt’s Coruscant club. Later, Fox led a squad of the Shock troopers in confronting the bounty hunter Cad Bane, who was escaping from the Republic Executive Building after taking a group of senators hostage and using them to secure Ziro the Hutt’s liberation from the Republic Judiciary Central Detention Center, however, Fox was forced to let the bounter hunters escape alongwith Ziro. Fox later was assigned to guard Republic Judiciary Central Detention Center and Republic military base. Fox participated in the chase for fugitive Padawan Ahsoka Tano who was blamed by Dark Jedi Barriss Offee in the murder of Letta Turmond.
Clone Commander Gree
Clone Commander Gree
CC-1004 was a senior clone commander in the Grand Army of the Republic. Possessed of a keen interest in alien species and cultures, 1004 was singled out to participate in a special training program by ARC trooper Alpha-17 that encouraged individuality. As a token of his independence, 1004 was rewarded with a name and chose to be known as “Gree,” a reference to an obscure alien species.

During the Clone Wars, Gree commanded the 41st Elite Corps, a division out of the 9th Assault Corps, which was led by Jedi General Luminara Unduli. He became an expert on alien cultures, giving his unit a specialization in hostile conditions, counterinsurgency, and long-term deployment on alien worlds in “hearts and minds” operations. He saw action on Uba IV, Dinlo, Rodia, and Alzoc III, amongst other worlds. In the first year of the war, Gree was assigned to escort the captured Trade Federation Viceroy Nute Gunray to trial on Coruscant, but they were waylaid by Separatist saboteurs and a defector from the Republic, and Gunray escaped. Gree later participated in the Second Battle of Geonosis, which saw the Republic successfully cripple several Separatist battle droid foundries on Geonosis.

In the last days of the war, Gree accompanied Jedi Grand Master Yoda to Kashyyyk in response to a Separatist attack. After breaking through the enemy lines surrounding the planet, he helped fight back against the droid forces of the Separatists. In the middle of the battle, Gree received a message from Supreme Chancellor Palpatine declaring the execution of Order 66, the extermination of the Jedi. Gree was killed by Yoda while attempting to fulfill the order.l

Clone Commander Neyo
CC-8826, nicknamed “Neyo,” was an ARC clone trooper who served in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. Cloned from the template of the Human male bounty hunter Jango Fett on the water world of Kamino, Neyo was a graduate of ARC trooper Alpha-17’s elite clone commander training program. Given the rank of clone marshal commander, Neyo became the commanding officer of the 91st Reconnaissance Corps, and in 19 BBY served in the five-month-long siege of the Separatist planet Saleucami. After the forces of the Galactic Republic captured Saleucami, Neyo and his Reconnaissance Corps—under the command of Jedi General Stass Allie—remained behind after the main Republic forces left, being tasked with destroying the last pockets of Separatist resistance.

During a speeder patrol on Saleucami with General Allie and a fellow trooper designated CT-3423, Neyo received Order 66—a Republic directive that labeled the members of the Jedi Order as enemies of the Republic to be executed—via his comlink from Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. Neyo and 3423 followed through, killing their commanding officer with their speeder bikes’ laser cannons. After the declaration of Order 66 and the Republic’s transformation into the first Galactic Empire, Neyo retained his rank of commander in the new Imperial Army.

Clone Commander Wolffe
CC-3636, nicknamed “Wolffe,” was a veteran clone trooper commander in the Grand Army of the Republic who served with Jedi General Plo Koon during the Clone Wars. The leader of the 104th Battalion’s famed Wolfpack squad, Commander Wolffe proved to be tireless in his efforts against the Confederacy of Independent Systems, displaying an affinity for strategy. In 22 BBY, on his first mission with Koon, Wolffe served on board the Jedi Master’s flagship, the Triumphant, when Koon led a task force to eliminate the Separatist warship Malevolence. While confronting the Malevolence in the Abregado system, however, all of the Wolfpack was eliminated, save for Koon, Wolffe, and troopers Sinker and Boost. The four were rescued by Jedi General Anakin Skywalker and his Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, and Wolffe had his unit adopt new clone trooper armor in honor of his fallen comrades. Refusing to let the loss of the Wolfpack deter him from his service, he inspired loyalty amongst his men.

Wolffe’s loyalty to the Jedi put him at odds with the ambitious Major Kendal Ozzel during the Battle of Khorm, in which they participated alongside Generals Koon, Kit Fisto, and Tauht. Though Wolffe lost his right eye in a fight with the Dark Acolyte Asajj Ventress, the Republic defeated the Separatists and liberated Khormai slaves, thus securing the planet’s repositories of rare agrocite ore for the Grand Army. Although scarred and forced to wear a cybernetic eye replacement, Wolffe continued his military service to the Republic, undertaking several key rescue missions with Koon to Felucia, Vanqor, and Lola Sayu. He even joined Koon in challenging General Grievous during the Second Battle of Felucia and the following Mission to Iceberg Three. He personally oversaw a supply mission to the groundquake-devastated planet Aleen, assisted in liberating Togruta slaves from the Zygerrian Slave Empire on Kadavo, and took part in a 104th mission that recovered the lightsaber of the late Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas.

Advanced Recon Commandos
Advanced Recon Commandos
Advanced Recon Commandos—also known as Advanced Recon Clone troopers or simply ARC troopers—were an elite variant of clone trooper in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. Although less numerous than the other clones, they were also among the most skilled soldiers in the galaxy. During the early stages of the clone army’s development, Jango Fett and his Mandalorian military advisors advocated the creation of clones capable of handling covert missions too delicate for the standard units. To achieve the desired results, the Kaminoans did not apply the standard behavior correction and enhanced the prime clone’s genetic sample to increase physical prowess. ARC troopers had special training that allowed them to act without thinking. They claimed it was similar to the Jedi’s use of the Force.[1]

The first attempt at genetic alterations failed, resulting in the Null-class ARC troopers. Having learned their lesson, the Kaminoans succeeded in their second attempt, generating the first 100 ARC troopers, designated the Alpha-class.

After completing standard flash training and accelerated growth, these clones were placed under the direct tutelage of Jango Fett. Under Fett’s strict discipline they learned to use their fierce independence, innate creativity, and physical superiority in combination with their training in advanced weapons and vehicles to become virtual one-man armies. After completing their training, the ARC troopers were locked in stasis on Kamino until they were required.

ARC trooper Alpha-17

Two months after the Battle of Geonosis, a Confederacy assault on Kamino prompted their early activation. As droid detachments closed in on Tipoca City, Prime Minister Lama Su activated the Advanced Recon Commandos and authorized their deployment to hot-spots across Kamino in a last-ditch effort to save the planet’s precious cloning facilities. The ARCs worked with a force of Jedi to repel the droid forces.

Following the First Battle of Kamino, the ARCs were integrated into the Grand Army of the Republic. As the ARCs took their place in the larger world, they developed distinct personalities due to their unaltered nature; some gave themselves names, others formed relationships outside the GAR. Once integrated, Advanced Recon Commandos worked as solo operatives or in small squads led by ARC captains, either performing self-contained missions or supplementing larger Grand Army of the Republic operations. It is possible that they trained ordinary clone troopers in ARC techniques and commanded them in squads; due to the limited number of ARCs, it is unlikely that the teams would be comprised only of them. One notable exception was the aftermath of the Battle of Hypori, where a twenty-man ARC trooper team under the leadership of Captain Fordo engaged General Grievous in combat.

As the Clone Wars progressed, some battles were won by the Republic largely thanks to the ARC troopers, most notably the Battle of Muunilinst, where the Muunilinst 10 disabled Separatist defenses that were causing damage to Republic forces. Soon, as their reputation spread among the GAR and throughout the galaxy, the Advanced Recon Commandos proved time and time again as to why they were they regarded as the best of the best in the Grand Army. As perfect soldiers, the ARCs and Jango were almost exactly alike; in fact, the leader of the Muunilinst 10, Fordo, had adapted the same blaster-spinning routine as Jango Fett.

Havoc in Phase II armor

However, because of their training as independent soldiers, they were more prone to questioning orders. In one unforgettable incident on Ord Cestus, ARC trooper Alpha 98 (known as Nate and later as Jangotat) disobeyed an order from his Jedi commander and sacrificed his life to destroy a local group of despots.

The Advanced Recon Commando tradition did not end with the death of Jango Fett in 22 BBY. Following his escape from Rattatak in early 20 BBY, Alpha, one of the earliest ARCs, returned to Kamino to train the second generation clone trooper commanders as Fett had trained him. These commanders, like Bacara and Cody, adopted the individualized practices of the ARCs and brought a new sense of creativity to the Grand Army of the Republic. Later in the war, distinguished infantry clone troopers could be promoted into ARC troopers. ARC troopers Fives and Echo obtained ARC status in this way.

After the Clone Wars, all surviving ARCs were offered either retirement or the option to train their successors, the stormtroopers, passing on their combat experience. These new ARC troopers were also rumored to have undergone intensive deep core programming. Some even defected to the Alliance to Restore the Republic while others went rogue, following in Jango Fett’s footsteps by becoming bounty hunters and assassins.[2][3] A number of ARC troopers were assigned to become part of the Imperial Commando Special Unit, a special forces unit that was attached to the elite 501st Legion.[4]

Some ARC troopers, possibly a new batch, took part in the Kamino uprising by leading the secretly grown clone anti-Imperial troopers against the Imperial stormtroopers of the 501st Legion in a fight to liberate Kamino from the Empire. The anti-Imperial clones failed, however.

During the Empire’s reign, specialized stormtroopers known as shock troopers bore armor similar to that used by ARC troopers. They were also armed with DC-17 hand blasters.

Shock Trooper
Shock Trooper
Clone shock troopers were the special forces clone troopers that formed the Coruscant Guard during the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. They were trained as elite shock troopers specifically for deployment on the planet Coruscant. There, as well as on a few other select Core Worlds, the clone shock troopers served primarily as security police for Republic government buildings and as prison guards. They also performed duties such as bodyguards for Republic officials and as urban peacekeepers with some troopers trained specifically for riot control.
Clone Captain Rex
CT-7567, nicknamed “Rex,” was a clone trooper captain during the Clone Wars, the galaxy-wide conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Rex was in command of Torrent Company, a unit of the famed 501st Legion in the Grand Army of the Republic. Rex served under Jedi General Anakin Skywalker, and was a freethinking, tough, and aggressive trooper. Though loyal and committed to his duty and to his fellow clones, Rex proved capable of questioning his superiors and, under extreme circumstances, outright disobeying orders if he believed them to be wrong. Rex displayed a strong working relationship and a degree of friendship with Commander Cody.

Under General Skywalker, Rex would go to many different planets throughout the galaxy. Rex assisted High General Obi-Wan Kenobi and General Skywalker during the Battle of Christophsis, when he worked with Commander Cody to root out a traitor, and later led Torrent Company during Confederacy General Whorm Loathsom’s multiple counterattacks. Rex also met Skywalker’s new Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, after she arrived on Christophsis. Rex also participated in the Battle of Teth, where he was one of the few clone survivors before reinforcements arrived. During inspections of Republic listening posts, Rex and Cody encountered a squad of droids on the Rishi moon, and led a group of rookie clone troopers to retake the base.

Rex participated in the Battle of Bothawui, and later assisted Skywalker and Tano during a mission to destroy a Confederacy listening post—and was one of the few clone troopers, along with Sergeant Denal, to survive the mission. After rescuing Jedi General Aayla Secura from defeat by the Confederacy with Skywalker and Tano, the Jedi and clones, including Rex and Commander Bly, crash-landed on the remote world Maridun, and Rex stayed with Anakin since he was injured, while the others found help. After Confederacy General Lok Durd arrived on the planet to test a new weapon, Rex and Bly helped to defeat the Confederacy and save the inhabitants of the planet. Rex would later be an asset during a short war on Orto Plutonia, and would also help halt the release of the deadly Blue Shadow Virus. Rex also helped Skywalker and Tano during the Battle of Ryloth and retrieving a stolen Jedi holocron.

501st clone trooper
501st clone trooper
The 501st Legion, also known as the 501 or 501st Battalion during the Clone Wars and later known as “Vader’s Fist” and the Five Hundred and First, was an elite unit of clone troopers commissioned by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine during the Clone Wars that later became a stormtrooper unit. Made up of units like Torrent Company, the 501st fought in many battles, such as the Battle of Teth and the Battle of Coruscant, becoming one of the most well-known legions. In 19 BBY, the 501st became Darth Vader’s personal unit as he led them during Operation: Knightfall, in which the clones helped take down the Jedi, whom they believed to be traitors to the Republic.

Following the rise of the Galactic Empire, the 501st transitioned into a stormtrooper unit, like other clone units. Given new armor and weapons, the 501st faithfully served the Empire, operating under the direct command of the Sith Lord Darth Vader. After the Kamino uprising, the 501st became the last remnant of the Grand Army of the Republic fully composed of Jango Fett clones, as opposed to the ever-growing and more diverse Stormtrooper Corps, where the Fett clones became a minority, with the inclusion of a pool of clones from different templates and birth-born recruits, while others were not clones, but humans from an Imperial academy; by 0 BBY though Vader was known to comb through the ranks of all stormtrooper units and transferring the very best to the 501st, a fact that angered other Imperial agents – like Mara Jade – who had to work with lesser qualified units.[19]

The legion fought in a number of battles during the Galactic Civil War in an effort to defeat the Rebel Alliance and bring peace to the galaxy, although the Alliance ultimately triumphed. Though the 501st was disbanded after the Battle of Endor, the Chiss Grand Admiral Thrawn resurrected the designation by forming a new 501st Legion. He also added more diverse recruits to the 501st, including non-Humans. The reconstituted 501st was stationed in the Unknown Regions, where they protected Thrawn’s Empire of the Hand. Over a century later, the legion was in the service of a new Empire, by then under the rule of Emperor Roan Fel.

When Fel was deposed by Darth Krayt shortly after the conclusion of the Sith-Imperial War, the 501st Legion fell under the control of the Dark Lord of the Sith in the year 130 ABY. Seven years later, however, Fel returned from exile and joined in the war against Krayt in order to reclaim his throne. Under the leadership of General Oron Jaeger, the 501st deserted the Dark Lord’s Galactic Empire in order to join the Fel faction.

Clone gunner
Clone tank gunners were specialized clone troopers who served in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars as gunners on several of the Galactic Republic’s vehicles, warships, and heavy artillery cannons. While all clone troopers were trained to fire larger weapon platforms such as artillery and starship turbolasers, there were some who were selected for specialized training in this field. These individuals were trained to become experts in such an art and engaged enemies long before they could reach close range combat. One of the hardest lessons for such recruits to forget was the fact that sustained fire gave away their position. While a useful trait amongst clone troopers on the battlefield, clone gunners had to forget such an aspect in combat in order to work effectively.[1]

In terms of equipment, they were often provided with DC-15 blaster pistol for close range combat though they were typically seen using heavy weapon emplacements. These troopers wore custom Phase I clone armor that had grey and tan on the helmet and a little extra armor on the chest plate. The helmet was insulated from noise and in addition their armor was reinforced to better protect themselves from the recoil of the cannons that they manned.[1] In terms of artillery, these soldiers were often seen operating AV-7 Antivehicle Cannons, the cannon of AT-TEs, and the heavy repeating blaster of Juggernaut tanks.

Clone pilot
Clone pilot
Clone trooper pilots were special clone troopers bred in the Kamino cloning centers for the purpose of piloting craft of the Grand Army of the Republic and the early Galactic Empire.

They first appeared at the Battle of Geonosis, where they flew LAAT/i and LAAT/c gunships. Pilots also operated CR20 and CR25 troop carriers. In addition, they flew starfighters such as the V-19 Torrent, ARC-170, and Alpha-3 Nimbus-class V-wing. The pilots who flew capital ships wore a special type of armor instead of the regular one, seen in the First Battle of Mon Calamari, during the Clone Wars. Pilots also knew how to operate all military land vehicles such as the AT-TEs.

Arf trooper
These clone troopers were often tasked with scouting out the enemy position on the battlefield. Although stealthy and well-trained, recon troopers’ duties differed from that of clone commandos or Advanced Recon Commandos as their focus was on gathering information about the enemy or carrying out surprise attacks.

Before the introduction of the AT-RT drivers, ARF troopers would often be pressed into service in that capacity.

Bomb Squad Clone Trooper
Clone ordnance specialists, also known as bomb squad troopers, were specialized clone troopers in the Grand Army of the Republic, trained in ordnance disarmament and disposal. In 21 BBY, four bomb squad troopers were deployed on Naboo when the Republic discovered a secret Separatist laboratory, where the scientist Nuvo Vindi had built dozens of bombs that would release an airborne version of the Blue Shadow Virus. The bomb squad troopers, alongside several standard clone troopers, led by Jedi Generals Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, attacked the Separatist laboratory to disable the virus bombs and free a pair of prisoners. During the resulting battle, Vindi activated the virus bombs, but the bomb squad troopers managed to deactivate them before they could detonate, while Skywalker and Kenobi captured Vindi. As the bomb troopers were guarding the captured bomb store, Vindi’s assistant droid sneaked past the guards and reactivated a bomb, causing the explosive to detonate and leak the Blue Shadow Virus throughout the laboratory. However, Skywalker and Kenobi were able to find a cure on the planet Iego.
Bounty Hunter
Bounty hunters were mercenaries for hire who tracked down and captured or killed anyone with a price on their head, although they were also known for doing nearly anything for the right price including the protection of clients. The best bounty hunters were very well armed, smart and clever, and had very effective weapons, making them even more dangerous.

Bounty hunters usually worked alone, but occasionally formed partnerships. Partnering with a bounty hunter could be very dangerous business, though, as they typically valued their personal gain—and survival—above that of their companions. Despite their fierce independence, their reputation as “Jedi killers” made them valuable allies of the Galactic Empire. There were strong rivalries between bounty hunters and smugglers, most obviously seen between Boba Fett and Han Solo, respectively.

Jango fett
Jango fett
Jango Fett was a renowned Mandalorian bounty hunter, assassin, mercenary, and the “father” of Boba Fett, a genetic clone of his, whom he raised as a son. A Human from Concord Dawn, Fett was adopted by Mandalorian warriors following the murder of his parents and the disappearance of his older sister Arla in 58 BBY. Years later, he would go on to lead them through much of the Mandalorian Civil War as Mandalore. After being imprisoned by Jedi, Fett was responsible for destroying the Death Watch, a Mandalorian group who killed Fett’s mentor, Jaster Mereel.

Following the conclusion of that conflict, Fett became a bounty hunter, quickly establishing a reputation as being one of the best in the galaxy. Later on, Fett agreed to serve as the genetic template for the clones that would form the bulk of the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. When Master Obi-Wan Kenobi located Jango and Boba on Kamino, Fett fled to join Count Dooku. Though struck down by Mace Windu in combat, Fett’s legacy would live on through his son Boba, as well as his cloned brethren, who would have a profound impact on galactic history.

Boba fett
Boba Fett was a Mandalorian warrior and bounty hunter. He was a clone of the famed Jango Fett, created in 32 BBY as the first of many Fett replicas designed to become part of the Grand Army of the Republic, and was raised as Jango’s son. Jango taught Boba much, training him to become a skilled bounty hunter as was his father-figure before him. In 22 BBY, Jango was killed at the Battle of Geonosis, which opened the Clone Wars. Just a boy, Boba was forced to grow up and took to traveling the galaxy. Later, he became a bounty hunter and took assignments from beings such as Jabba the Hutt, and achieved notoriety despite his young age.

When the Empire was formed in 19 BBY, it was the perfect environment for Fett. During this time, he also married Sintas Vel and had a daughter named Ailyn Vel. Fett became known as the galaxy’s best bounty hunter of the next several decades, often working for the Empire. He collaborated with Darth Vader on several occasions, and the Sith Lord even developed a grudging respect for Fett.

In 1 BBY, a year after the Galactic Civil War had begun, Fett was hired to kidnap the Rebel captain Juno Eclipse in order to lure out a clone of Galen Marek. Fett participated in the Battle of Kamino and when Darth Vader was captured and about to be interrogated on Dantooine, the Mandalorian bounty hunter trailed the Rogue Shadow there.

Fett made his most notable bounty in 3 ABY, when he captured Rebel hero Han Solo, and delivered him to Jabba the Hutt. A year later, during the Battle of the Great Pit of Carkoon, Fett fought against the group of Rebel rescuers. However, he was inadvertently knocked into the mouth of the Sarlacc by Solo. Though no one in recorded history had ever escaped from the Sarlacc, Fett was able to escape, though not unscathed. Thanks to his iron will and Mandalorian armor, he was able to fight his way out of the beast’s belly, and later killed the Sarlacc. Back in action, he resumed his work as a bounty hunter.

After a promise made to a dying Fenn Shysa, Fett became Mandalore and eventually led the Mandalorians through the Yuuzhan Vong War. Originally working as a mercenary for the extra-galactic invaders, Fett later aided the New Republic in their battle against the aliens. When the Yuuzhan Vong assaulted Mandalore and bombarded the planet’s surface, a large deposit of Mandalorian iron was unearthed, ironically helping to strengthen the Mandalorians. Later, during the Second Galactic Civil War, Boba, who was still leading the Mandalorians, was plagued by ailing health. He found his granddaughter, Mirta Gev, and the two went on many missions together, even alongside Han Solo. Fett also trained Solo’s daughter Jaina to kill her twin brother, Darth Caedus, and assisted the Jedi Coalition in several battles. Ultimately, Fett’s training helped Jaina bring down Caedus, though an Imperial nanovirus attack prevented Fett from ever returning to Mandalore.

Cad bane
Cad Bane was a Duros male bounty hunter from the planet Duro who earned a reputation as the galaxy’s best, deadliest, and most fearsome mercenary during the Clone Wars. Though he worked for a number of clients, his loyalty was ultimately to credits—and by extension, the highest bidder. Bane employed a variety of weapons and allies to ensure that he always got his pay, and he became the leader in his line of work after fellow bounty hunter Jango Fett perished in the opening battle of the war. His renown attracted the attention of Count Dooku and even the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Sidious, the latter of whom employed him numerous times for his own means. Working for Sidious, Bane stole a Jedi holocron from the Jedi Temple to unlock the Kyber memory crystal, a repository of all recorded Force-sensitive infants in the galaxy. After pilfering the crystal from Jedi Master Bolla Ropal on Devaron and forcing Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker to unlock it, Bane was sent to kidnap four of the infants listed in the crystal. Despite being captured halfway through his job by Skywalker and his Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, Bane escaped from Jedi Masters Obi-Wan Kenobi and Mace Windu by luring them into a trap on his hideout, Black Stall Station.

Bane was later hired by the Hutt crime lord Jabba Desilijic Tiure and the Hutt Grand Council to break Jabba’s criminal uncle, Ziro Desilijic Tiure, out of Republic custody on Coruscant. Forming a team of hunters to execute his job, Bane launched a brazen raid on the Republic Executive Building and captured ten prominent members of the Galactic Senate, using them as hostages to force Supreme Chancellor Palpatine to free Ziro. Once he had secured Ziro’s release from the high-security Central Detention Center, Bane disbanded his posse and delivered Ziro to the Hutt Council. When Ziro escaped from their custody on Nal Hutta, Bane was re-hired to track down the crime lord. Though he arrived on Teth too late to secure his bounty, he managed to evade Jedi Masters Obi-Wan Kenobi and Quinlan Vos, who failed to apprehend him for his crimes. At the close of the bounty hunting season, Bane’s total bounties surpassed those of all others in field.

After breaking criminal mastermind Moralo Eval out of the Republic’s Central Detention Center, Bane became a candidate in Eval’s plot to kidnap Chancellor Palpatine for Count Dooku and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Bane thus entered Eval’s Box competition to become one of the five mercenaries who would be hired for the job. After passing the tournament alongside fellow hunters Embo, Derrown, Twazzi, and Rako Hardeen, Bane was personally selected by Dooku to lead the operation, and they traveled to Naboo to capture Chancellor Palpatine during the Festival of Light. Despite Bane’s success with abducting Palpatine, Dooku betrayed him, having intended for the bounty hunters’ operation to simply be a diversion for his own attempt to kidnap the Supreme Chancellor. Abandoned by Dooku, Bane was defeated by Hardeen, who turned out to be none other than Obi-Wan Kenobi, who had gone undercover to infiltrate and foil Eval’s plans. Bane nevertheless retained his formidable reputation throughout the Clone Wars, after which he became one of the preferred freelancers for the Galactic Empire.

Greedo, son of Greedo the Elder, was a male Rodian bounty hunter. He lived in Mos Espa alongside the young Anakin Skywalker and W. Wald circa 32 BBY. Although his father had been an esteemed hunter, and the chief rival of Navik the Red, the younger Greedo had little of his father’s prowess and was easily killed by Han Solo in Chalmun’s Spaceport Cantina on Tatooine.
Bossk (meaning “Devours His Prey” in Dosh) was a male Trandoshan bounty hunter who was the pilot of the Hound’s Tooth and held the title of monarch of the Qotile system.[6] He was not particularly fond of Chewbacca and his Human partner Han Solo. He would face them several times, and would be one of the six bounty hunters Darth Vader hired to track down and capture the Millennium Falcon. Despite the fact that Bossk loved to hunt and skin Wookiees, he would unknowingly aid in the freeing of hundreds of Wookiee slaves on the island world of Lomabu III. He was also a frequent partner and foe of both Boba Fett and Zuckuss, both fellow bounty hunters. After being repeatedly beaten by Boba Fett, Bossk would eventually boost his reputation as a bounty hunter by defeating Fett on Tatooine.
The Sith believed that conflict was the only true test of one’s ability, and so emphasized its importance. It was their belief that conflict challenged both individuals and civilizations, and so forced them to grow and evolve. They believed that the avoidance of conflict-like the pacifist teachings of the Jedi-resulted in stagnation and decline.

Another purpose served by conflict was the elevation of the strong and the death of the weak. By encouraging strife, the strong were able to exercise their power while the weak were weeded from the ranks of the Sith. A core tenet to Sith philosophy was self-reliance and the idea that an individual only deserved what they were strong enough to take. Likewise, morality was treated as an obstacle to be overcome, as it got in the way of a Sith’s ability to recognize and seize opportunities for advancement and self-empowerment.

Such philosophies were embraced and taught at Sith academies, where students were encouraged to challenge one another and fight for prestige that would be recognized by the headmaster of the academy. At the academy on Korriban during the Jedi Civil War, students were tasked with gaining prestige so they might become one of the “chosen few” accepted into the ranks of Darth Malak’s Sith Empire. The strife to achieve prestige caused rivalries and animosity between the students, as there were few tasks that offered prestige, and many prospective Sith. Similarly, the students of the academy during the New Sith Wars were pitted against each other in dueling sessions atop the academy. It was during these dueling sessions that intense rivalries were formed – rivalries that resulted in the deaths of students Fohargh and Sirak at the hands of Darth Bane.

Darth vader’s armor
Darth Vader’s armor, or serial number: E-3778Q-1, was a mobile life support system that Darth Vader was forced to wear to compensate for the serious injuries he suffered after his duel with Obi-Wan Kenobi on Mustafar in 19 BBY. It was designed to maintain and protect the young Sith apprentice’s charred body while exuding an air of intimidation and control. His suit followed an ancient Sith tradition, in which the warriors of the dark side of the Force would adorn themselves in heavy armor. The suit was constructed using various methods of Sith alchemy which served to augment Vader’s severely diminished physical strength and vitality.

The suit provided a wide variety of life-support systems, the most important among them a complex breathing apparatus, and gave Vader relatively free movement without having to use a hoverchair. It was damaged or broken several times during its use, necessitating upgrades and repairs. The suit was finally irreparably broken by Emperor Palpatine’s powerful Force lightning aboard the second Death Star after Vader saved his son, Luke Skywalker, from near death. After Vader’s death soon thereafter, the suit was ceremonially burned by Skywalker on the forest moon of Endor in 4 ABY.

The armor encased Vader completely, leaving no burned skin exposed. Vader slowly learned to live in this kind of isolation and anonymity, finding ways to cope with his situation, though the suit was not made with the peak technology of its day and was uncomfortable to wear. As a way of overcoming its limitations, Vader was forced to change his lightsaber style. Additionally, to escape the armor’s claustrophobic nature, Vader had several meditation chambers built, in which he could remove his mask and suit and still survive. However, Vader longed to be less dependent on his armor, and tried at times to function without it, but he labored in vain.

Darth Vader
Darth Vader (Known as Anakin Skywalker) was born on the planet Tatooine and he and his mother were slaves to Gardulla the Hutt and Watto. He fixed parts and helped run Watto’s shop. When a Jedi Master called Qui-Gon Jinn was looking for spare ship parts in Episode I he found Anakin selling parts/making them for ships. Qui-Gon couldn’t afford to buy the ship parts they had on sale. Anakin was entering for a pod-race that time so if he won he got a ton of credits, so Qui-Gon demanded to Watto that if Anakin wins the race, he has to give him the ship parts and let him go. Eventually Anakin wins the pod-race and asks to go with the Jedi to become one himself due to his apparent Force abilities, so his mother says “yes” and he goes. Later, Anakin would become a Jedi Padawan learner under Obi-Wan Kenobi following his role in the Battle of Naboo and Qui-Gon’s death.

In Episode II Anakin gets married to Padme after being captured by Count Dooku’s Confederacy of Independant Systems and having returned safely after the Battle of Geonosis. In Episode III Anakin starts seeing in the force that Padme dies and he tries to make an attempt by turning to the dark side. The Emperor had tricked him in telling him that she would be alright. As Anakin foretold it Padme ended up dying from pregnancy and having Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa before she died. In Episode IV Anakin now known as Darth Vadar from having an accident on Mustafar leads the Emperor’s Imperial forces across the Galaxy. In Episode V Darth Vader asks Luke to join the dark side of the force, but Luke refuses and ends up almost dying from falling in Cloud City. In the last episode Darth Vader dies after throwing the Emperor into the Death Star reactor, and he ends up not making it in time for the Death Star to blow up thanks to the efforts of Luke’s Rebel allies.

Count dooku
Dooku was a Jedi Master who fell to the dark side of the Force and became a Dark Lord of the Sith, known as Darth Tyranus. Born into a noble family on the planet Serenno, he was the heir to vast wealth and the noble title of Count. Dooku was taken by the Jedi Order as a child and apprenticed to Thame Cerulian. As a Jedi Knight, he took Qui-Gon Jinn as his first Padawan, and later trained Komari Vosa. Dooku was a respected instructor in the Jedi Temple and one of the most renowned swordsmen in the galaxy, on par only with Masters Yoda and Mace Windu.

Dooku spent nearly seventy years as a Jedi, but a disastrous battle on Galidraan shook his faith in the Order and the Galactic Republic. He fell under the influence of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine of Naboo, and left the Jedi Order. After learning that Palpatine was secretly the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, Dooku turned to the dark side and became a Dark Lord of the Sith himself, replacing Darth Maul as Sidious’s second apprentice. His new master bestowed upon him the Sith title of Darth Tyranus.

Reclaiming his birthright as Count of Serenno and his vast fortune, Dooku conspired with Sidious to force the galaxy into a war that would bring the Sith to power. He forged ties between corporations and planets discontented with the Republic, and became the leader of the Separatist movement that coalesced into the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Thousands of star systems flocked to Dooku’s banner and seceded from the Galactic Republic.

As the political leader of the Confederacy, Dooku led the organization against the Republic in a conflict that would become known as the Clone Wars. He recruited and trained four of his greatest warriors to lead the Separatist Droid Army: Durge, the brutish Gen’Dai bounty hunter; Asajj Ventress, Dooku’s protégé and Dark Jedi apprentice; General Sev’rance Tann, Chiss commander and Dark Acolyte; and General Grievous, the infamous Jedi-slaying cyborg and droid leader.

The war culminated in a great battle over the Republic capital of Coruscant. In a duel aboard the Separatist flagship Invisible Hand, Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker defeated Dooku. Skywalker then executed the dismembered and helpless Dooku at the instigation of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, Tyranus’s own Sith Master. He would quickly be replaced by the very man who had killed him, Anakin Skywalker, who would soon fall to the dark side and be transformed into the fearsome Darth Vader.

General greivous
Grievous, born as Qymaen jai Sheelal, was the cyborg Supreme Commander of the Droid Army of the Confederacy of Independent Systems for most of the Clone Wars. Grievous was originally a Kaleesh from the planet Kalee, where he lived his early life. During the Kaleesh conflict against the Huk, Qymaen jai Sheelal quickly learned the art of war, specializing in a slugthrower rifle. Quickly amassing a great number of Huk kills, he became a demigod among his people. He eventually met the female Kaleesh Ronderu lij Kummar, a master with the sword. The two became very close before her death at the hands of the Huk. Heartbroken, Qymaen jai Sheelal renamed himself Grievous and turned all his anger and grief toward the Huk. Aided by his elite, he forced the Huk off Kalee and then swarmed their homeworld, conquering the Huk. The Huk turned to the Galactic Republic for help, and the Kaleesh were forced back to their own world by the Jedi and left to starve.

Desperate to help his people, Grievous took a job as an enforcer with the InterGalactic Banking Clan. However, after learning that the Huk had attacked Kalee, he headed home to gain vengeance. IGBC Chairman San Hill, after consulting with his ally, Separatist Head of State Count Dooku, arranged for a bomb to be placed on Grievous’ shuttle, Martyr. The Kaleesh was critically injured, but lived, and Hill arranged for the final stage of his plan. Grievous was reconstructed as a cyborg and was presented to Dooku as a potential weapon to be used in the upcoming war that the count had planned against the Republic.

After being made Supreme Commander, Grievous proceeded to wreak havoc on the Republic for the three-year-span of the Clone Wars. The general was trained in the art of lightsaber combat by Dooku himself, who was also a Sith Lord. Grievous was a quick study and eventually came to be recognized as one of the most skilled duelists in the galaxy. Aided by his IG-100 MagnaGuards, Grievous killed many Jedi, and led the Confederacy to victory in many battles. Quickly gaining a reputation as a savage, merciless brute as well as a tactical genius, the cyborg struck fear into the hearts of many with his flagship, the ion cannon-armed Malevolence, as well as Operation Durge’s Lance, a massive strike at the Core Worlds.

In 19 BBY, Grievous led the Confederate Navy in the Battle of Coruscant, an attack on the Republic’s capital. Grievous killed several Jedi and took Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, leader of the Republic, hostage. However, before the general’s flagship, Invisible Hand, could jump to hyperspace, the Republic Navy arrived, and the Chancellor was freed by Jedi Knights Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, the latter of whom was also successful in killing Dooku. Grievous fled to the Outer Rim world of Utapau and attempted to regain control of the war, though the Confederacy had been dealt a great blow with the loss of Dooku. Grievous was killed shortly after in the Battle of Utapau by Kenobi, and the Confederacy fell soon after. At some point after Grievous’s death, his body was used to create the droid warrior N-K Necrosis, who considered himself to be the reincarnation of Grievous. However, the droid was killed shortly after his creation by several spacers.

Darth maul
Darth maul
Darth Maul was a male Dathomirian Zabrak Dark Lord of the Sith who lived during the waning years of the Galactic Republic. Originally a Dathomiri Nightbrother born on Iridonia and known only as Maul, the infant Maul was given by his Nightsister mother to the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, who trained him in the ways of the dark side of the Force as his secret apprentice on a secret Mustafar training facility, along with the help of a split personality droid. Maul became a master of Juyo, Jar’Kai, and Teräs Käsi, with training in Niman, and chose to wield a red-bladed saberstaff in combat. Though well trained in the ways of the Sith and a Sith assassin rather than a full apprentice, Maul was technically a violation of the Rule of Two because his own Master was at the time apprenticed to another, the Muun Sith Lord Darth Plagueis. Plagueis however, was fully aware of Maul’s existence, and supported Sidious’s decision to train him. The primary reason for Plagueis’s support, despite the violation of the Rule of Two, was that Maul was trained to be expendable. As an assassin, he could perform high priority, boots-on-the-ground missions for the Sith without running the risk of exposing either Plagueis or Sidious should he fail.

In 33 BBY, Sidious gave Maul his first mission: to put the criminal organization Black Sun in disarray. Maul carried out this task perfectly, dealing the group a grievous blow. Maul played an instrumental role in the invasion of the planet Naboo in 32 BBY. The crisis was engineered by Darth Sidious, who lived a double life as Senator Palpatine of Naboo, to have Supreme Chancellor Finis Valorum removed from office, allowing Sidious to take his place and set the stages for a government ruled by the Sith. After Padmé Amidala, queen of the Naboo, escaped the blockade, Maul was dispatched to follow her. He found her on Tatooine, where he had a short but intense duel with Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn, revealing the existence of the Order of the Sith Lords to the Jedi, who had thought the Sith extinct. Later, Maul was sent to Naboo, where he fought Jinn and his apprentice, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Though he killed the Jedi Master, Maul underestimated Kenobi’s skill and was severed in half at the waist by the Padawan. Sidious would quickly replace Maul with a more powerful apprentice: the late Jinn’s former Master, Dooku, who had fallen to the dark side, and whom Sidious dubbed Darth Tyranus.

Through his intense rage, Maul was able to survive and escape to the junk fields Lotho Minor, where he spent the next twelve years of his life with little to no memory of his former self. Maul kept himself mobile by manifesting a spider-like lower half, feeding off of rodents while his mental equilibrium slowly became undone. Although Darth Sidious and the Jedi Order were unaware of Maul’s continued existence, the Nightsister Mother Talzin continued to keep an eye on Maul. In 20 BBY, three years into the Clone Wars, Talzin sent Maul’s brother, Savage Opress, the ousted apprentice of Maul’s Sith successor, on a quest to find the fractured man who dwelled in the depths of Lotho Minor. Savage successfully brought his brother back to Dathomir to undergo physical and mental reconstitution by Talzin’s dark magic. Rehabilitated mentally and physically through prosthetic legs, Maul swore to reestablish his place in galactic history, starting with taking vengeance on Kenobi. Maul and Opress caught the attention of the Jedi Order by slaughtering innocents on the planet Raydonia in a successful attempt to lure Kenobi out. Maul tortured Kenobi, though the arrival of an unexpected ally, the Nightsister Asajj Ventress, gave Kenobi the time he needed to escape.

Maul and Opress soon cut a bloody swath across the Outer Rim, catching the attention of the Republic and the Jedi. On one occasion, Maul rallied the Moorjhoni clans against the Rim Mining Company. Maul and his brother then unsuccessfully tried to recruit a group of Weequay pirates from the Ohnaka Gang to their cause, a plan which was thwarted and nearly ended in the Nightbrothers’ deaths following the arrival of Kenobi. Maul and his brother were found by the Mandalorian Death Watch leader Pre Vizsla and his lieutenant Bo-Katan. The two conspired to conquer Mandalore and establish a criminal empire, enlisting the aid of the Hutt Cartel, Black Sun and the Pyke Syndicate. When the New Mandalorian state on Mandalore was conquered by the new Shadow Collective, Vizsla imprisoned Maul and Opress, no longer having any use for them. Maul retaliated by dueling and finally decapitated Vizsla, declaring himself ruler of the Death Watch. Maul finished his revenge on Kenobi by killing his former lover, ousted Mandalorian Duchess Satine Kryze. However, his actions drew the attention of his former master, Darth Sidious, who killed Opress and kidnapped Maul for his own purposes.

In 0 BBY, Darth Vader encountered either a clone or dopplegänger of Maul created by the Secret Order of the Empire. Though he believed that he could easily defeat Vader and serve under the Emperor once more, this false Maul was slain by the fallen Chosen One.

Geonosians often called Geos or bugs in clone trooper slang, was an insectoid species native to the planet Geonosis. Geonosians resided in catacomb-like hive colonies beneath the organic-looking spires.

Notable Geonosians included: Poggle the Lesser, Gizor Dellso, and Sun Fac, who all held important roles in the Confederacy of Independent Systems.

The Geonosians, with their long snouts and spindly limbs, bore a certain resemblance to B1 battle droids, which they manufactured for some time before the outbreak of the Clone Wars.

Geonosian starfighter
The Nantex-class territorial defense starfighter, also known as the beak-wing fighter or simply the Geonosian starfighter, was a model of starfighter that was manufactured by Huppla Pasa Tisc Shipwrights Collective and designed for the exclusive use of the Geonosians when guarding their territories against intruders. During the Clone Wars, these small, speedy craft would see service with the naval and land forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems in a small number of key battles, including the campaigns of Sev’rance Tann and the Battle of Muunilinst, as well as the Battle of Geonosis itself that saw the opening shots of the galactic conflict.
Geonosian cannon
Geonosian cannon
The LR1K cannon used sonic blaster technology that employed internal oscillators to produce a devastating sonic blast. The high impact concussive sonic energy was stabilized by a containment sphere within the cannon until impact against a target, at which point it broke up to create an omnidirectional blast. Commonly, the LR1K required two Geonosian or battle droid gunners to operate, although the cannon’s advanced, highly-precise targeting computers were capable of doing most of the work. A critical hit with this weapon would instantly kill any average clone.

The cannon had a range of 20 meters[2] and cost AurebeshSans-Serif credit 9,000.[1]

Brain Worm
Brain Worm
Brain worms were worm-like parasites from Geonosis that had the capability of controlling minds. They hatched from yellow eggs, and were known to be used by the Geonosian Queen Karina the Great during the Clone Wars on her Geonosian minions. The worms would sometimes enter the host via the nose, and were able to control dead Geonosians.

Brain worms reacted negatively to cold temperatures.

Geonosian Queen
Karina the Great was the Geonosian Queen of Geonosis during the Clone Wars. Unlike most members of her species, she had six limbs instead of four, and a huge egg-laying organ, which produced an egg roughly once every eight seconds. She commanded a hive of undead Geonosian warriors, through use of brain worms, from her lair under the Progate Temple.

She was originally thought to be only a myth, until Archduke Poggle the Lesser hid in the temple with her, unaware that he was being followed by Jedi Master Luminara Unduli and the clone trooper Buzz. The Jedi and the clone entered Karina’s temple, but were quickly attacked by the undead Geonosians. Buzz was killed and Unduli was taken prisoner. When Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker and Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi tracked Luminara down to Karina herself, Obi-Wan wanted to negotiate with her and find out how the brain worms worked. However, Queen Karina was presumably killed by the clone troopers who had shot down the structure of the temple while saving the three Jedi, allowing it to topple over her and trap her under the rubble.

Poggle the Lesser
Poggle the Lesser was the Archduke of Geonosis before and during the Clone Wars, and was a leading member of the Separatist Council. He would later be killed by Darth Vader, along with the rest of the Council, on Mustafar at the conclusion of the conflict in 19 BBY.

As planetary leader of the Geonosians and a member of the Techno Union, Poggle controlled the vast droid factories found on his planet.

Gizor Dellso
Gizor Dellso was a male Geonosian engineer who worked for the Confederacy of Independent Systems and helped design a signal to shut down the droid army to prevent anyone from using the Confederacy’s battle droids against them. Following the end of the Clone Wars and the dissolution of the Confederacy in 19 BBY, Dellso refused to surrender. On the planet Mustafar, he found a secret droid factory near an abandoned Confederacy bunker. Dellso started up the factory and began producing an army of droids, hoping to restart the Clone Wars. Between 18 and 12 BBY, however, the Imperial 501st Legion was sent to Mustafar to eliminate Dellso and end his rebellion. Following a pitched battle, Dellso was killed, and the facility was destroyed.
Sun Fac
Sun Fac was a Geonosian of the upper caste living in the Stalgasin hive on Geonosis. Sun Fac served as Archduke Poggle the Lesser’s chief lieutenant. His position was evident in his insect-like wings, as well as the tusks at the edge of his mouth. Like most other Geonosian aristocrats, he was ruthless in his management of the wingless lower-caste workers, forcing them to work in harsh conditions regardless of any dangers.

As with most Geonosians, Sun Fac was strong, despite his slender build. His tough exoskeleton protected him from physical assaults and the bouts of radiation that occasionally showered Geonosis. Sun Fac’s right eye had either been sealed shut or entirely missing. The large scar across his face suggests his missing eye was due to a battle wound.

Over time, Sun Fac, who ensured that his master’s will was executed throughout Geonosis, proved to the Archduke that he was both unusually intelligent and very creative for a Geonosian.

In the events leading to the Clone Wars, he also proved that he was as adaptable as intelligent. He was adept at playing any role required of him. Sun Fac could do it all—from supporting the Archduke to becoming a ruthless executioner.

Sun Fac with Archduke Poggle the Lesser on Geonosis.

Prior to the Battle of Geonosis, Sun Fac convicted Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala of espionage, sentencing them to death in the Geonosian execution arena. He was responsible for delivering the verdict of the Geonosian court to the two Humans who had come to Geonosis in an attempt to rescue Obi-Wan Kenobi. The news was delivered to a courtroom filled with Separatist Senators, Trade Federation officials, Commerce Guild dignitaries, InterGalactic Banking Clan members, Corporate Alliance representatives, and Techno Union leaders who looked on while the duo protested their innocence.

When the Grand Army of the Republic invaded Geonosis, Sun Fac chose not to go into hiding with the Archduke or other highranking Geonosians, but instead tried to escape separately. As he reached his starfighter in the upper levels of a tower protruding from the hive, he was followed by clone commandos who were tasked with assassinating him. Sun Fac managed to get into his starfighter, but as the ship lifted from the landing platform, it was damaged by clone commando RC-1207 using the DC-17m Interchangeable Weapon System sniper attachment, killing Fac when it crashed.

Droids (sometimes also ‘droids, short for androids), were robots: mechanical beings, often possessing artificial intelligence. They were used in a variety of roles and environments, often those considered too menial or too dangerous for humans and other species. Droids were also used in fields that required extensive specialization and knowledge, such as medical droids and astromech droids.

Depending on the model and its corresponding purpose, droids were totally obedient, rugged, expendable, capable of vast memory recall, and mathematically precise. These characteristics made them well suited for many jobs, though the lack of independent thought in the cheaper, less advanced models limited their capability. This lack of autonomy was simultaneously a vast asset and a glaring weakness—an asset in terms of obedience and control but a massive drawback in terms of effectiveness. Designers faced a fundamental paradox—make the droids overly intelligent, and they might rebel; yet make the droids not intelligent enough and they would be ineffectual.

Customarily, droid names were an arrangement of numbers and letters.

R2-D2, pronounced Artoo-Deetoo and often referred to as Artoo, was an R2-series astromech droid manufactured by Industrial Automaton prior to 32 BBY. Resourceful and spunky, the droid developed an adventurous personality during his many decades of operation. Inside of his cylindrical frame were many arms, sensors, and other tools that could be extended to fulfill various needs, such as slicing computers, extinguishing fires, projecting holograms, repairing starships, and flying. Along with his counterpart, the protocol droid C-3PO, R2-D2 constantly found himself directly involved in pivotal moments of galactic history. His bravery, coupled with his many gadgets, played large roles in saving the galaxy time and time again. Like other astromech droids, R2-D2 could walk on two legs or use a third leg to roll across the ground.

In 32 BBY, R2-D2 was serving the Royal Engineers of Naboo aboard Queen Padmé Amidala’s royal starship when the Trade Federation blockaded the planet. His maintenance work on the ship’s hull while it was under fire allowed the queen and her crew to bypass the blockade and flee the sieged world. R2-D2 was then recognized before the queen for his work in ensuring the ships safety. Afterwards, R2-D2 directly served the queen, playing a decisive role in liberating Naboo and remaining with Amidala for another ten years, even as she transitioned to the role of senator eight years later. When attempts on her life were made in 22 BBY and the Jedi Padawan Anakin Skywalker was assigned to protect her, R2-D2 and C-3PO accompanied the two to Geonosis and participated in a battle that started the Clone Wars, a galaxy-wide conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Separatist Confederacy of Independent Systems. Amidala gave R2-D2 to Skywalker when he became a Jedi Knight, and the astromech droid faithfully served him throughout the war, often flying in the droid socket of Skywalker’s starfighter or fighting next to him on the front lines.

The war was in fact orchestrated by the Republic’s Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, who was secretly the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, and who brought the conflict to an end three years in, taking Skywalker as his Sith apprentice, wiping out the Jedi, and reorganizing the Republic into a Galactic Empire. In the aftermath of the war, R2-D2 and C-3PO were assigned to the corvette Tantive IV of Alderaan, where they served Alderaan’s viceroy Bail Organa for nineteen years. They were, however, separated from Organa during that time period, and got caught up in a wide variety of misadventures, ruining the gangster Tig Fromm, helping restore the Tammuz-an monarchy, and aiding the merchant Mungo Baobab in reviving his family’s fortune, among other exploits. After rejoining the crew of the Tantive IV, they became embroiled in the Galactic Civil War, and in 0 BBY, Leia Organa of the Rebel Alliance entrusted R2-D2 to bring a copy of the Death Star plans to the Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi on Tatooine. After meeting Skywalker’s son Luke and the smuggler Han Solo, the droids helped rescue princess Leia from the Empire’s Death Star and became directly attached to the three Humans, helping them and their rebellion defeat the Empire and restore freedom to the galaxy. R2-D2 would also assist Luke in his training as the galaxy’s last Jedi Knight.

When the Rebellion later became a New Republic, R2-D2 continued to serve Luke and the now-married Han and Leia Solo, helping them defeat remnants of the Empire; R2-D2 notably sliced into Palpatine’s Galaxy Gun and used it to destroy the Emperor’s fortress world of Byss, teamed up with C-3PO and a young mechanic named Cole Fardreamer to foil a plan to bomb the galactic capital of Coruscant, and recovered a copy of the Caamas Document, which allowed peace to be forged between the New Republic and the final remnants of the Empire. When an extra-galactic race of religious zealots known as the Yuuzhan Vong invaded the galaxy in 25 ABY, R2-D2 participated in the four-year conflict that eventually saw the invaders defeated. Six years later, Luke and Leia discovered the identity of their mother via holorecordings found inside of R2-D2’s memory, and R2-D2 remained at their side during the subsequent Second Galactic Civil War. The astromech droid was passed down to many subsequent generations of Skywalkers, and in 137 ABY, aided Cade Skywalker in fighting against a revived Sith Empire.

C-3PO, sometimes spelled See-Threepio and often referred to as Threepio, was a bipedal, humanoid protocol droid designed to interact with organics, programmed primarily for etiquette and protocol. He was fluent in over six million forms of communication, and developed a fussy and worry-prone personality throughout his many decades of operation. After being destroyed and discarded on the planet Tatooine before 32 BBY, C-3PO was rebuilt; his salvaged nature gave him special qualities that distinguished him from similar droid models. Along with his counterpart, the astromech droid R2-D2, C-3PO constantly found himself directly involved in pivotal moments of galactic history, and aided in saving the galaxy on many occasions. C-3PO considered various droids and organics to be friends of his, and was very dedicated to them, as well as to any master that he served.

Originally activated on Affa in 112 BBY, C-3PO had served as a protocol droid to the emissary of the Manakron system. Nearly eighty years later, he was gutted and discarded on the streets of Mos Espa, a city on the Outer Rim world of Tatooine. After being rebuilt by the Human slave Anakin Skywalker, C-3PO served Skywalker and his mother Shmi for over ten years, performing household chores and helping Skywalker earn his freedom by winning a pod race. Skywalker left Tatooine but returned in 22 BBY when his mother passed away, and C-3PO was given to Skywalker, now a Jedi Padawan, by Shmi’s stepson Owen Lars. C-3PO, Skywalker, R2-D2, and the Naboo Senator Padmé Amidala immediately became embroiled in the Clone Wars, a galaxy-wide conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Separatist Confederacy of Independent Systems. Skywalker married Amidala and gave C-3PO to her as a wedding gift, and C-3PO faithfully assisted her in her senatorial duties throughout the three-year conflict. The two often entered the front lines of the war, at times fighting alongside Skywalker and R2-D2.

At the end of the war, Skywalker became a Sith Lord, Amidala passed away, the Jedi Order was exterminated, and the Republic was reorganized into a Galactic Empire. C-3PO’s memory was erased, however R2-D2’s memory was not. C-3PO and R2-D2 were assigned to the corvette Tantive IV of Alderaan, where they served Alderaan’s viceroy Bail Organa for nineteen years. After rejoining the crew of the Tantive IV and serving under Captain Raymus Antilles, they became embroiled in the Galactic Civil War, and in 0 BBY, Leia Organa of the Rebel Alliance entrusted them to bring a copy of the Death Star plans to the Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi on Tatooine. After meeting Skywalker’s son Luke and the smuggler Han Solo, the droids helped rescue princess Leia from the Empire’s Death Star and became directly attached to the three Humans, helping them and their rebellion defeat the Empire and restore freedom to the galaxy.

When the Rebellion became a New Republic, C-3PO continued to serve Luke and the now-married Han & Leia Solo, helping them defeat remnants of the Empire. Notably, C-3PO helped the Solos raise their three children, and aided Luke in recruiting trainees for his New Jedi Order. His translation abilities proved crucial during major incidents on Bakura, the starship Teljkon Vagabond, and in the Kathol sector, and in 17 ABY, he and R2-D2 teamed up with a young mechanic named Cole Fardreamer to foil a plan to bomb the galactic capital of Coruscant. When an extra-galactic race of religious zealots known as the Yuuzhan Vong invaded the galaxy in 25 ABY, C-3PO participated in the four-year conflict that eventually saw the invaders defeated. The destruction wrought by the invaders, and particularly their harsh treatment of droids, caused C-3PO to deeply question his views on deactivation, immortality, and memory erasure. Twelve years later, he began helping raise the latest addition to the Solo/Skywalker clan: the spritely youth Allana.

FX-7 (or FX7), also known as Fixit, was an FX-series medical assistant droid in service to the Alliance to Restore the Republic around the time of the Battle of Hoth. FX-7 was stationed in the Rebels secret Echo Base on the ice planet of Hoth. He assisted both Human and droid medics in the Echo Base medical lab. The droids ability to use its twenty retractable manipulator arms simultaneously proved useful to an understaffed medical bay. After the loss of Yavin Base, the Alliance used any outmoded equipment they could find. This droid was certainly classed as outmoded but proved invaluable for its sophisticated medical, diagnostic and procedural programming. Although this droid was capable of speech, its speech synthesizer card was missing.

FX-7 assisted 2-1B on Hoth after Luke Skywalker was attacked by a wampa. The droids built up a good rapport with one another, and had worked together for more than a year. Despite this, 2-1B would often state his superiority over his medical assistant, due to his egotistical droid personality.

FX-7 and 2-1B escaped Hoth aboard the GR-75 medium transport Bright Hope, the last transport to leave the planet. After the bounty hunters 4-LOM and Zuckuss rescued the passengers of the Bright Hope, including the two medical droids, FX-7 was reassigned to the EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate Redemption.

Gial Ackbar
Gial Ackbar was a male Mon Calamari who became the foremost military commander of the Alliance to Restore the Republic and its successor government the New Republic. During the Clone Wars, he was in charge of the Mon Calamari Guard and fought in the battle that had secured Prince Lee-Char’s way to the throne as King of Dac. Having previously been an Imperial slave to Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin, he was freed by Captain Juno Eclipse and was recruited to join the Rebellion. Later, he fought alongside Renegade Squadron and was once captured by bounty hunter Boba Fett. During the Battle of Endor, later revealed to be a trap for him and the Alliance, he led Alliance naval forces against the Death Star II. He held the distinction of having been the Supreme Commander of the New Republic Defense Force for nearly two decades and defeating two Imperial Grand Admirals, Osvald Teshik and Peccati Syn, along with numerous other threats. He wrote the manual for the New Republic Fleet Academy, titled Fleet Tactics and Combat Methodology.

After the Pellaeon-Gavrisom Treaty, Ackbar retired to a quiet life of writing his memoirs and advising. However, although old and infirm, he would plan the decisive Battle of Ebaq 9 that brought about the end of Tsavong Lah and much of the Yuuzhan Vong fleet. He would die of old age in 29 ABY and be remembered as a great military leader.

Stormtrooper armor
Stormtrooper armor consists of only 18 blaster- resistant pieces, surrounding a black bodysuit that can adapt to extreme temperatures. Stormtrooper armor was a distinctive white plastoid body armor over a sealed black body glove worn by Imperial stormtroopers, and in this respect appeared similar to their Clone Wars Phase II clone trooper armor predecessors, having acquired its color from the austere tastes of its Kaminoan creators. The complete set of eighteen pieces completely encased the body and typically had no individually distinguishing marking outside of rank. In fact, the casual first-time observer sometimes mistook the Stormtroopers as a form of battle droid.

It also protected the troopers from very harsh environments as well as projectiles and kinetic energy weapons.[1] The armor significantly reduced damage to the wearer from a blaster bolt, but it could be completely penetrated by a more powerful cannon blast. The body glove allowed for operation in warm or cold climates, however it could protect the trooper from almost any environment — from total vacuum conditions to the very extremes in cold and heat for a very limited period of time. The Imperial Army soon acquired the use of the armor in the later years of the Galactic Empire.

Rank was indicated with colored pauldrons. In certain situations, Stormtroopers sometimes wore camouflage armor to help them blend in with different environments. The Stormtrooper corps instituted this reform after the embarrassing defeat at the Battle of Endor.

Private ownership of stormtrooper armor was strictly forbidden by the Empire.

A blaster was a ranged weapon that fired bursts of particle beam energy called blaster bolts from a replaceable power pack. The most commonly used weapon in the galaxy, blasters’ intense beams consisted of compacted high-energy particles and intense light that could kill or paralyze their target, depending on the setting. Blasters ranged from compact pistols, all the way up to large, heavy rifles and starship-mounted blaster cannons. Some beings used blasters from their youth: Anakin Skywalker owned a small ion blaster in his childhood, Leia Organa was given a sporting blaster when she was a teenager, and Mandalorian children were given blasters, along with extensive training, prior to becoming thirteen standard years old. Throughout the Clone Wars, a clone trooper usually held a blaster rifle if not any type of specialist.
X-wing starfighter
X-wing starfighter
The X-wing was a prominent series of multiple starfighters produced by Incom with a characteristic “X”-shape of four wings, known as S-foils, extending out from the fuselage. These starfighters were found in the service of the Rebel Alliance, New Republic, and also the Galactic Alliance. They were originally meant for the Galactic Empire but when the entire Incom design team defected with the prototypes to the Rebel Alliance this deal was over. Despite this, however, at least one X-wing was stolen by a Stormtrooper.
Han Solo
Han Solo
Han Solo was a Human smuggler from the manufacturing planet Corellia who achieved galactic fame as a member of the Rebel Alliance and later the New Republic. Born on Corellia, he was orphaned at an early age and taken by the pirate Garris Shrike to serve on his crew. He was treated cruelly, and served Shrike for many years before escaping while in his teens. Solo became a smuggler, and fell in love with Bria Tharen, though she left him due to her duties to the Rebel Alliance. Solo then entered the Imperial Academy at Carida, serving with distinction. He was kicked out, however, when he stopped an Imperial officer from beating a Wookiee named Chewbacca with a neuronic whip for resisting capture. In gratitude, the Wookiee swore a life debt to Solo, protecting him with his life. He became a smuggler once again, with Chewbacca at his side. Piloting the upgraded and customized Millennium Falcon, which he won in a game of Sabacc against Lando Calrissian, his future ally, he became known as one of the best smugglers in the galaxy.

On the run from Imperial officials, Solo became caught up with the Rebel Alliance, courtesy of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa, whom he helped rescue from the Death Star. Solo helped Skywalker destroy the Death Star when it attacked the Rebel base at Yavin 4, where they had taken Organa. Solo became an unofficial member of the Rebel Alliance, and fell in love with Organa. He officially joined the Alliance in 4 ABY and was immediately commissioned as a general. He led the strike team that helped destroy the Second Death Star at the Battle of Endor, in which Emperor Palpatine was killed. A year later, the New Republic was founded.

Solo married Organa in 8 ABY, and the two had three children: Jaina, Jacen, and Anakin. As the New Republic was threatened by many enemies in its first years of existence, Solo was always on the move, sometimes traveling with Skywalker, who was Organa’s brother. Along with his wife and faithful Wookiee friend, Solo fought against Warlord Zsinj, Grand Admiral Thrawn, the reborn Emperor Palpatine, Admiral Daala and the Yevetha. In 25 ABY the New Republic was attacked by the Yuuzhan Vong. The war that followed lasted four years and was extremely bloody. Solo’s closest friend Chewbacca and his son Anakin Solo both died during the war, deaths that haunted the ex-smuggler. The Vong were eventually defeated and the New Republic was reformed into the Galactic Alliance. In 40 ABY, his son Jacen turned to the dark side of the Force, and took control of the Galactic Alliance. Solo and his wife joined the rebel faction opposing Darth Caedus, and the two were prepared to kill him, as they no longer saw him as their son. At the end of the war, Solo was still having tense relations with the GA government.

A walker was any vehicle, usually military, that used legs as its primary method of locomotion rather than the more common repulsors, wheels, or treads. The term could also refer to especially large droids with legs (usually combat droids), though such droids were usually referred to using more specific terminology (such as “spider droid”). The All Terrain series contained some of the most well known examples of walkers. The designs for walkers utilized by the Galactic Empire were directly inspired by the successful use of animal cavalry from ancient civilizations.
Death star 2
Death star 2
The Death Star II was the second Death Star battlestation to be constructed by the Galactic Empire. It was much larger than its predecessor, measuring over 160 kilometers wide, and was built after the destruction of the first Death Star at the Battle of Yavin. Emperor Palpatine insisted on the reconstruction of the battlestation, as it was an integral part in his plan to destroy the Rebel Alliance, leaving the galaxy in the hands of the Empire.

The Death Star’s superlaser was revealed to be operational before the construction of the station was completed, surprising the Alliance attackers during the Battle of Endor. This was Emperor Palpatine’s plan all along, and it nearly led to the loss of the Rebels. The Alliance ground forces on the forest moon of Endor managed to deactivate the energy shield surrounding the battlestation, and the Rebel fleet proceeded to destroy the station from within, signifying the beginning of the downfall of the Empire.

Jabba the hutt
Jabba the hutt
Jabba Desilijic Tiure, better known as Jabba the Hutt and often called the “Bloated One,” though never to his face,[10] was one of the most notorious Hutt crime lords in the galaxy, who governed a large criminal empire located in the Outer Rim Territories from his desert palace on Tatooine. At the height of his power, Jabba was one of the most powerful crime lords in the galaxy, even having contact with Prince Xizor, the head of the Black Sun Syndicate.

Jabba had started as a small crime lord, but quickly spread his influence into a variety of illegal activities, including spice-smuggling, gunrunning, slavery, and sometimes outright piracy. Known for his cruelty and carnal fancies, Jabba the Hutt was powerful enough to command respect and payment from the Galaxy’s ruling government, so much so that during the Clone Wars the Republic went to great lengths to avoid Jabba’s displeasure. He later placed a hefty death mark on Han Solo, a former employee of his, after Solo lost a load of spice to an Imperial patrol vessel. He would finally get his revenge on Solo when the carbonite-encased Corellian was delivered to him by Boba Fett, one of the many bounty hunters Jabba was known to employ. However, this mission was Jabba’s undoing, as a rescue mission and subsequent battle with Luke Skywalker and his allies resulted in the Hutt’s demise.

Leia Organa Solo
Leia Organa Solo (born Leia Amidala Skywalker) was, at various stages of her life, a politician, revolutionary, and Jedi Knight of the New Jedi Order. The daughter of Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker and Senator Padmé Amidala of Naboo, Leia was the younger twin sister of Luke Skywalker, and, shortly after her birth, she became the adopted daughter of Bail Organa and Queen Breha of Alderaan, making her a Princess of Alderaan. An accomplished Senator, Leia Organa was most famous for her strong leadership during the Galactic Civil War and other subsequent galactic conflicts, making her one of the galaxy’s greatest heroes. Later she married Han Solo, and became the mother of their three children: Jaina, Jacen, and Anakin Solo. Around the start of the Swarm War, Leia unknowingly became a grandmother through Jacen’s daughter Allana.

She had a forceful personality and bright intellect, having accomplished much in her youth: she was a strong proponent for the Rebel Alliance, the youngest Senator ever of the Galactic Empire at eighteen standard years of age, and a member of the Royal Family of Alderaan. Years later, she was instrumental in the creation of the New Republic, and was elected to the position of Chief of State, serving twice in that office.

Due to her powerful Force heritage, Leia, following her family’s legacy, became a Jedi Knight in the New Jedi Order. She was partially trained by her brother Luke and later by Jedi Master Saba Sebatyne, who declared her a fully trained Knight at the end of the Swarm War. This training would serve her well as the galaxy teetered on the edge of collapse into civil war once more during the Second Galactic Civil War, although it complicated her allegiance. During this conflict, Leia’s son Jacen turned to the dark side of the Force, becoming the Sith Lord Darth Caedus. Leia and Han became determined to destroy Caedus, feeling that their son was already dead. However, it was their daughter Jaina who ended his life in a lightsaber duel that also concluded the war.

In the aftermath of Caedus’ death, the Solos became the guardians of their granddaughter Allana, at the behest of her mother, Tenel Ka of Hapes, and remained two of the galaxy’s most important figures, standing with the Jedi Order amidst the tensions that arose between it and the government of Chief of State Natasi Daala.

Nute gunray
Nute gunray
Nute Gunray was a Neimoidian male who served as a stint Minister of the Trade Federation until he rose in power after the Stark Hyperspace War in 44 BBY, eventually becoming Viceroy of the Trade Federation. In 32 BBY, Gunray participated in the occupation of Naboo with the Federation Army to settle a trade dispute that began in the Galactic Senate. With the help of Darth Sidious, Gunray invaded the planet to end the trade dispute and secured all facilities in the capital of Theed. He attempted to force the incumbent Queen of Naboo Padmé Amidala to sign a treaty to make his invasion legal, however she refused and the Siege of Naboo continued. The Trade Federation soon surrendered to Naboo forces following the Second Battle of Theed. Gunray was taken to the Galactic Republic capital on Coruscant to be charged with acts of war.

During the Separatist Crisis that following the Invasion of Naboo, Gunray confronted former Jedi Master, Count Dooku, who began a separatist movement that opposed the Republic. Dooku, who secretly was Sidious’s Sith apprentice under the name of Darth Tyranus, helped him through his four trials in the Supreme Court, and soon after the trials, Gunray retained his position as Viceroy. The Trade Federation, under Gunray’s command, joined Dooku’s separatist movement and Gunray was named Head of the newly formed Separatist Council and so formed the Separatist Army. Gunray, along with Dooku and his master, Sidious, formed the Confederacy of Independent Systems which opposed the Galactic Republic in a three-year war known as the Clone Wars that followed after two years of the Separatist Crisis.

During the Clone Wars, Gunray approached Onaconda Farr, the senator of Rodia, with an offer he couldn’t refuse: join the Separatists, and receive the aid and protection for Rodia that the Republic had failed to provide. However, Gunray’s motivations for the generous offer were far from friendly; in return, he demanded that Farr lure Senator Amidala to the planet and hand her over to him. Gunray’s plan ultimately failed and he was captured by the Republic and given to Jedi Master Luminara Unduli and Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano. Dooku sent his Dark Jedi apprentice, Asajj Ventress, to rescue the Viceroy from the Republic forces. Stationed inside the Republic Star Destroyer, Senate Commando Faro Argyus released the Viceroy and met up with Ventress in Argyus’s cruiser. Argyus was betrayed and murdered by Ventress, however, in a fit of rage over his arrogance.

In 19 BBY, the Separatist Council was moved to the volcanic planet of Mustafar from the sink hole planet of Utapau, after Separatist General Grievous became leader of the CIS after the death of Dooku. Following the death of Grievous at the hands of Obi-Wan Kenobi Nute Gunray became the new leader of the separatists. Gunray along with the other Separatist leaders were betrayed by Darth Sidious after he sent his new apprentice, Darth Vader, to Mustafar to end the war. Gunray was the last council member to be killed by Vader’s lightsaber, which had ultimately brought an end to the Clone Wars and fragmented the CIS into various Separatist holdouts.

The Talz (pronounced /tælz/) were a large furry species with two distinct sets of eyes: one for day vision, and one for night vision. Their homeworld was Alzoc III, a frozen world with much mineral wealth. They also established a colony on the world of Orto Plutonia. Talz were rarely seen in the galaxy away from their homeworld.
Watto was a male Toydarian junk dealer/human trafficker, who owned a shop in Mos Espa, Tatooine. In his youth, he served as a soldier in the Ossiki Confederacy Army on his homeworld of Toydaria, but later left after sustaining permanently damaging injuries. Making his way to Tatooine, he fell in with the Jawa natives of the planet, and learned how to trade from them. Once he felt he had learned all he could, he abandoned the Jawas, and set up Watto’s Shop in Mos Espa. He became one of Tatooine’s many slave owners, and made a lucrative business for himself. Eventually, he came into possession of a young slave, Anakin Skywalker, who proved to be a gifted mechanic, and an invaluable asset to the running of the store. Soon enough, Watto discovered that the boy had an affinity for podracing.

Watto would often bet on the podraces, and was an avid fan, so he had Anakin race for him in several tournaments. Although the boy never won, he was clearly gifted. During one particular race, Anakin destroyed Watto’s own podracer, which incurred the Toydarian’s wrath. Shortly thereafter, a stranger to Mos Espa, Qui-Gon Jinn, claimed that he had his own podracer, and that he wanted Anakin to fly it in the Boonta Eve Classic. Watto conceded to the deal, but decided to bet against Anakin, instead investing in the Dug Sebulba. Jinn took the bet, wagering the pod against Anakin’s freedom. Ultimately, Anakin won the race, and Watto was left with very little. His business declined, and he eventually had to sell Anakin’s mother, Shmi Skywalker. Watto stayed in business until the Galactic Civil War, when he handed over ownership of his shop to his assistant, W. Wald.

Jar Jar binks
Jar Jar binks
Jar Jar Binks was the first Gungan to represent his people in the Galactic Senate, first serving as a Junior Representative along with Senator Padmé Amidala, and then, after her death, serving as full Senator himself. Like most Gungans, Binks was lanky and spoke Basic with a unique accent. Despite being naïve and clumsy, Jar Jar Binks contributed greatly to the fate of the Galactic Republic, both for good and ill. He was a General, Representative, and later a Senator.

Binks was also one of Qui-Gon Jinn’s companions during the Invasion of Naboo, traveling to distant worlds such as Tatooine and Coruscant, an activity not taken up by many Gungans. On his return to Naboo, he served as a Bombad General for a short while in the Gungan Grand Army, and was a joint commander of the Battle of Grassy Plains with General Ceel. Binks later helped his people colonize the nearby Naboo moon Ohma-D’un. During his career as Junior Representative, he acted as Amidala’s proxy and proposed giving Supreme Chancellor Palpatine emergency powers in order to deal with the Separatist Crisis. Binks would continue his public service even after the death of Amidala, taking her place as Senator of the Chommell sector in the newly-reformed Imperial Senate.

Geonosis, called Geonosia by some natives, was the home planet of the Geonosians. The desert world was the Confederacy’s first capital, hosting its major droid foundries. It was the site of the Battle of Geonosis, the opening conflict of the Clone Wars, in 22 BBY.
Wicket Wystri Warrick was a male Ewok scout, warrior and later Chief of Bright Tree Village on the forest moon of Endor. The great-grandson of Erpham Warrick, Wicket was the third son of Deej and Shodu Warrick, following Weechee and Willy and was the older brother of Winda.

Wicket led an adventurous life, even from a very young age. He and his friends, namely Teebo and Princess Kneesaa, continually protected their village and the surrounding forest from those who would do them harm, such as Morag the Tulgah witch, the Duloks, and other threats from Endor and beyond. He almost even inadvertently killed Emperor Palpatine while defending the sunstar during Doctor Raygar’s quest for Imperial domination.

Wicket aided the Towani family when they crash-landed on Endor and later assisted Noa Briqualon in the battle against the Sanyassans. Wicket also played an instrumental role in helping the Rebel Alliance defeat the Galactic Empire during the Battle of Endor. After the death of Chief Chirpa, Wicket Warrick and his bride, Kneesaa, together ruled over Bright Tree Village.

Gungan soldier
The Gungans were sentient amphibious humanoids native to the planet of Naboo. Prior to the Invasion of Naboo, the Gungans were a largely isolationist society. They were able to combine machinery with biology. They lived in large bubble-like domes under water. Gungans had strong leg muscles for swimming, and were aided by their long fin-like ears. Their arms ended in four-fingered hands, and their feet had three stubby toes each. Females tended to be slightly smaller, with sleeker faces. They often tied their long ears back.

The long Gungan face had a tough yet flexible bill for burrowing and rooting out food. They also had long muscular tongues with which they scooped mollusks and lesser amphibians from the Naboo swamps. Their teeth were large and blunt, capable of cracking through shellfish. Their large nostrils completely sealed for underwater travel.

While most spacefarers would dismiss Gungans as primitives, they developed an advanced, albeit unique, technology. They grew the basic structures of buildings, vehicles and technology and adorned them with artistic flourishes and organic lines. This gave Gungan technology a very fluid, non-rectilinear look.

The power source for Gungan technology was a mysterious blue-white energy “goo” that was mined in the depths of Naboo’s oceans. The viscous plasmic material formed the basis of Gungan weaponry as well.

The Gungans had mastered energy field technology for a number of uses. Their underwater cities employed hydrostatic fields to create large bubbles of atmosphere within which they dwell. Similarly, Gungan ground troops carried portable frames which generate a protective energy field capable of deflecting blaster fire. In large-scale combat, giant Gungan shield generators could create an immense umbrella of protective shield energy that could stop laser bolts and physical objects with great kinetic energy.

Despite mastering this bizarre technology, Gungans still employed beasts of burden for transportation. Their most common mount was the kaadu, a wingless reptavian which Gungans adorned with feathers and rode into combat. Other favored Gungan mounts included the large, stubborn falumpaset. For truly heavy loads, the Gungans domesticated the fambaa, a nine-meter tall, quadrupedal amphibian.

The Gungans maintained a large standing armed force, called the Gungan Grand Army. This huge collection of foot soldiers carried cestas, electropoles, and atlatls capable of hurling plasmic energy spheres (or boomers, as Gungans called them). Gungan catapults hurled even larger boomers great distances.

The Gungans were ruled by a Boss and his Rep Council, from the High Tower Board Room of Otoh Gunga. The Gungans had an uneasy relationship with the Naboo, the human colonists on the planet. Many Naboo looked down upon the Gungans, thinking them as primitive. The Gungans in turn tried to avoid any contact with the surface-dwellers.

Individuals were called a Gung.

Snow trooper

Magna gaurd
Magna gaurd
The IG-100 MagnaGuard, also known as the Self-Motivating Heuristically Programmed Combat Droid, was an advanced type of battle droid that was used during the Clone Wars as bodyguards of General Grievous, as per Count Dooku’s order, as well as being specialized infantry on the battlefield. After the InterGalactic Banking Clan secured Grievous’s services as an enforcer, they refused to hire his Kaleesh, and thus the cyborg general demanded a cadre of “more intelligent battle droids” to serve him. The construction of the MagnaGuards was then commissioned for Grievous’s service, though the Jedi-killing droids were also occasionally employed to escort Count Dooku himself.
Rotta, nicknamed “Pedunkee Mufkin” (Punky Muffin) by his father and “Stinky” by Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker, was a Huttlet around the time of the Clone Wars and the offspring of Jabba Desilijic Tiure, grandson of Zorba Desilijic Tiure, great-nephew of Ziro, Jiliac, and Pazda, and cousin of Gorga and Grubba.
The Twilight
The Twilight was a G9 Rigger freighter that was originally used by Hutt crime lord Ziro Desilijic Tiure as a spice freighter during the Clone Wars. Later in the Battle of Teth, Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker and his Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, used it to take Hutt crime lord Jabba Desilijic Tiure’s son back to his home planet of Tatooine, but were shot down over the planet and were forced to crash-land the ship. After they abandoned it, the ship was scavenged by Jawas, and Skywalker later returned and reclaimed it. The ship’s appearance of age caused it to be nicknamed the Grease Bucket and the Bucket of Bolts by Tano and Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, respectively.

After it had been reclaimed, the Twilight was later used by Skywalker in several missions during the coming events in the war. These included Skywalker and Kenobi’s rescue of Galactic Senator Padmé Amidala aboard the Confederacy warship Malevolence during the Battle of the Kaliida Nebula, as well as Skywalker and Tano’s mission to destroy a Confederacy listening post. Additionally, Skywalker and Kenobi took the freighter to Florrum to confirm that Sith Lord and Confederacy Head of State Count Dooku had been captured by pirates, in order for a deal to be struck between the pirates and the Galactic Republic, and the two Jedi later used the Twilight to find an antidote for the deadly Blue Shadow Virus on the planet Iego. Later on, the Twilight would be used once again by Skywalker and Tano during their mission to Mustafar. In 20 BBY, it was discovered that Darth Maul had survived and had taken over the planet Mandalore with the help of Pre Vizsla and the Death Watch. Kenobi used the freighter as a way of sneaking in to rescue Duchess Satine Kryze, who had been imprisoned by Maul. The two attempted to escape in the Twilight but it was hit by a missile and crashed, forcing them out of the ship.

Probe droid
Probe droids (also known as probots or recon droids) were droids that were specifically designed and programmed to perform reconnaissance duties. These units were often dispatched by various space navies to gather information from a variety of different locations, reporting anything of significance as defined by specific preprogrammed protocols. Some models were equipped with a self-destruct mechanism in order to prevent those whom it had been sent to observe from studying them and determining their source, as well as a small blaster-type weapon for defense.
He is a wookie who once served as a rorrukarowogh soldier, he is the co-pilot of the millineum falcon and friends with han solo.Chewbacca (or “Chewie”, as he was known by his friends) was a legendary Wookiee from Kashyyyk and co-pilot of Han Solo’s ship, the Millennium Falcon. He was the son of Attichitcuk, the husband of Mallatobuck, and the father of Lumpawaroo. Chewbacca carried with him the name of an ancient Wookiee hero, the great Bacca, first of the great chieftains of Kashyyyk, and the creator of a sword that denoted leadership among the Wookiees. This name placed Chewbacca in a noble lineage, which was further supported by his role in the Battle of Kashyyyk during the Clone Wars and during the Galactic Civil War.

Chewbacca was a wise, sophisticated being of great strength and loyalty. As technologically savvy as the brightest Academy graduate, he was also a skilled mechanic. Chewbacca, like many Wookiees, was able to understand Basic, but he could not speak it due to his species’s vocal structure. He instead spoke Shyriiwook, the main Wookiee language, composed largely of growls and grunts, to his non-Wookiee companions who typically replied in Basic.

Battle droid
Battle droid
Battle Droids are robotic, combat units used in the Star Wars Universe. Though developed earlier, battle droids served as frontline units in the Trade Federation Army and for the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars era. They were mass-produced on Confederate planets such as Geonosis, and some units survived into the Galactic Civil War and Legacy era. Battle droids were originally made by Trade Federation Viceroy, Nute Gunray, to prevent pirate attacks. When he was contacted by Darth Sidious, he attacked the peaceful planet of Naboo. The droids easily overwhelmed Naboo’s military and put the people in camps where many died.A battle droid (also referred to as war droid, combat droid, or killer droid) was any droid designed for combat.

There were numerous types of battle droids. They predated the Galactic Republic by thousands of years, with the earliest known being Rakatan ancient droids and the war-robots used by Xim the Despot.

Many of the best known battle droids were those used by the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars.

At the end of the Clone Wars, Sith Lord Darth Vader turned off the Master control signal, deactivating most of the Separatist Droid Army. After this, battle droids were extremely rare.

Super battle droid
Super battle droid
One of the main design flaws of the standard B1 battle droid was its reliance on a Droid Control Ship to provide a signal; if the ships were disabled, the battle droids would become useless. To remedy this, the super battle droid did not rely on such a signal and had a greater capacity for independence. However, the droid still operated best with a command signal, otherwise they tended to forget about enemies as soon as they moved out of visual range. Additionally, the sturdy duranium frame of the super battle droid was larger and more heavily armored than those of a B1.[2]

Unlike its predecessor, the B2’s delicate processing unit and signal receptor were buried deep inside the torso, offering much more protection from enemy fire. Small dual laser cannons were mounted on their right forearms, along with a triShot weapon system. The B2’s forearms could also be replaced by rocket launchers. They could use external weaponry (except in rocket launcher configuration), though their large hands had difficulty with smaller blasters. Instead, they were equipped with special blaster rifles that only responded to signal emitters built into the hands. For the sake of efficiency, they used many B1 parts. Their feet were also outfitted with specialized equipment for difficult terrain, such as climbing claws.[2] Their arms also were modular, capable of exchanging their laser cannon for grenade launchers and other specialized weaponry.

Assault Gunship
Assault Gunship
The term gunship described a variety of vessels. The term was used for small troop deployment and attack carriers or for small capital ships. Typically heavily armed and armored, gunships were designed to break through whatever obstacles prohibited the completion of their mission. They were commonly used for troop carriers, supply relief ships, and escorts. Some were designed to carry large ground vehicles and drop them onto a battlefield. During the Clone Wars, the Republic Gunship was one of the most-used small spacecraft in the Grand Army of the Republic.
Republic frigate
Republic frigate
The Consular-class cruiser (Charger c70 retrofit), or the Republic frigate, was a model of retrofitted Consular-class cruiser that turned the ships into small frigates. Corellian Engineering Corporation created this for Supreme Chancellor Palpatine during the early part of the Clone Wars.
Republic attack cruiser
Republic attack cruiser
The Resolute was the Venator-class Star Destroyer and flagship of Jedi General Anakin Skywalker during the Clone Wars. The Resolute was assigned to Jedi General Anakin Skywalker’s Open Circle Fleet, and it served as the flagship of Skywalker under the admiralty of Wullf Yularen. Other qualified Jedi were authorized to command the ship, such as High Jedi Generals Plo Koon and Obi-Wan Kenobi, and even Anakin’s Padawan, Jedi Commander Ahsoka Tano.
Vulture droid
Vulture droid
A droid starfighter was any starfighter powered by a droid brain. They saw extensive use prior to and during the Clone Wars, particularly by the Trade Federation. The Galactic Empire would eventually create droid starfighters of its own.
Padme Amidala
Padme Amidala
Padmé Naberrie of Naboo (Publicly known by her regal name, Padmé Amidala, also known as Her Royal Highness, Queen Amidala of Naboo, from 33 BBY to 25 BBY, and as Her Excellency, Senator Padmé Amidala of Naboo, from 25 BBY until her death) was the younger daughter of Ruwee and Jobal Naberrie, and the sister of Sola Naberrie. Later in her life, Amidala became the secret wife of Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker and the mother of Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa Solo, two of the most important figures in Galactic history. She was also the grandmother of Jaina, Jacen and Anakin Solo, as well as Ben Skywalker. This relationship made her great-grandmother of Allana Solo, Jacen Solo’s daughter, and an ancestor of Nat, Kol, Cade Skywalker, and Ania Solo.

Amidala was the democratically elected Queen of Naboo before representing the Chommell sector as a Senator in the Galactic Senate. As Queen of Naboo, Amidala fought bravely to liberate her people during the Trade Federation’s invasion in 32 BBY, thus becoming one of the most respected political figures in the galaxy. In 22 BBY, following the Military Creation Act, Anakin Skywalker was assigned to protect her, and following the Battle of Geonosis, the two secretly married on Naboo after the pair fell in love.

Senator Amidala participated in many events of the Clone Wars, both political and military, while also becoming pregnant, a sign of loving devotion to her husband. Around the end of the war, she doubted the motives of the Galactic Republic. In 19 BBY, appalled by the dissolution of the Republic and the creation of the Galactic Empire, she signed the Delegation of 2000 along with Bail Organa, Mon Mothma and other Senators.

After Anakin slaughtered many Jedi, including younglings, Obi-Wan Kenobi came to tell Padmé about Anakin’s transformation to the Sith Lord Darth Vader. She refused to believe him, and went to Mustafar to find her husband. Unknown to her, Kenobi had hidden aboard her ship in order to find his former apprentice. When Kenobi revealed himself, the newly christened Sith Lord assumed she had betrayed him, and he strangled his wife using the dark side, knocking her unconscious.

After Kenobi defeated Vader, and left him for dead, he took Amidala to a medical facility on Polis Massa, where she gave birth to fraternal twins and named them—the boy, Luke, and the girl, Leia.

Unfortunately, her husband’s fall to the dark side had broken her heart, causing her to lose the will to live, which, coupled with the strain of giving birth to her children, resulted in her death. Before death took her, she spoke her final words to Kenobi, stating her strong belief that there was still good within Anakin. At her state funeral, thousands of Naboo gathered in the streets of Theed to pay their respects to their beloved former Queen and Senator.

Throughout her relatively short life, she played a vital role in the politics and events surrounding the Clone Wars. Amidala and other Senators were responsible for creating the foundation for any chance of rebellion against the Empire. Eventually, Padmé’s children would play a major role in the fragmentation of the Empire and the redemption of Anakin.

74-Z speeder bike
74-Z speeder bike
The 74-Z speeder bike, sometimes referred to as the Imperial speeder bike due to its use by scout stormtroopers of the Galactic Empire, was a speeder bike manufactured by Aratech Repulsor Company used for reconnaissance purposes, as well as rapid transportation in combat zones.
Tauntauns (pronounced /tɑːntɑːn/) were a species of omnivorous reptomammals who were indigenous to the icy planet of Hoth. Tauntauns were commonly used as pack animals during the Rebel Alliance’s stay at Hoth. Tauntauns were also used as patrol mounts when it was learned that the Rebel Alliance’s own vehicles could not cope with the very cold weather.
Millennium Falcon
Millennium Falcon
The Millennium Falcon, originally known as YT-1300 492727ZED, was a modified YT-1300 light freighter with a storied history stretching back to the decades before the Clone Wars and the rise of the Galactic Empire. Manufactured by the Corellian Engineering Corporation in 60 BBY, the light freighter was first owned by Corell Industries Limited and underwent several name changes before being bought by the smugglers Kal and Dova Brigger in 48 BBY, and the ship eventually ended up as the property of the secretive Republic Group under the name Stellar Envoy by 29 BBY. The Envoy was destroyed in a collision with a bulk freighter above Nar Shaddaa, but it was rebuilt and served various owners under different names before Quip Fargil named it after the bat-falcon, and it eventually fell into the hands of Lando Calrissian after a game of sabacc—but Calrissian himself lost the ship in another game of sabacc to the smuggler Han Solo several years later.

Solo and his Wookiee copilot, Chewbacca, became the ship’s most famous and permanent owners, flying the Falcon during their smuggling careers and their subsequent work with the Alliance to Restore the Republic; a fateful trip to the planet Alderaan from Tatooine, ferrying Ben Kenobi and Luke Skywalker there, saw Solo and the Falcon embroiled in the Alliance’s affairs and participating in the historic Battle of Yavin—during which Solo and Chewbacca flew the Falcon to save Skywalker from Imperial TIE fighters and allowed him to fire the shot that destroyed the Death Star. Despite Solo’s insistence that he did not work for the Alliance, his misadventures continued to draw him back to the Rebels and Princess Leia Organa, and the Falcon was present for many pivotal battles of the Galactic Civil War such as the Battle of Hoth and the Battle of Endor—where Lando Calrissian and his copilot Nien Nunb flew alongside Wedge Antilles into the second Death Star’s superstructure and fired the shots that spelled the massive battle station’s death.

Tie Fighter
Tie Fighter
The TIE/LN starfighter, or TIE/line starfighter, simply known as the TIE Fighter, was the standard Imperial starfighter seen in massive numbers throughout most of the Galactic Civil War and onward. Colloquially, Rebel and New Republic pilots referred to the crafts as “eyeballs.”
Star Destroyers
Star Destroyer was a term used to describe both a certain type of medium-sized[1] capital ship[2] used by the Galactic Republic, the Galactic Empire, the New Republic, the Imperial Remnant, the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances, the Alliance-in-exile, the Fel Empire and Darth Krayt’s Galactic Empire, as well as heavily armed warships in general.[3]

The term originated with the idea of a warship powerful enough to destroy entire star systems, and did not necessarily indicate a destroyer type vessel.[3] Despite this, Star Destroyers were sometimes referred to as destroyers themselves. One such Star Destroyer was the Venator-class Star Destroyer of the Galactic Republic. In the Anaxes War College System, any warship that was between 1 and 2 kilometers in length qualifies as a Star Destroyer, excepting cases where the vessel, despite its length matching that of a Heavy Cruiser or battlecruiser, had less or more armaments than their class or role. Examples include the 900m Victory-series of Star Destroyer and the 2.2km Secutor-class Star Destroyer.

Super Star Destroyers
Super Star Destroyer (SSD) was a term used by Imperial, Rebel, New Republic and Galactic Alliance personnel for many dagger-shaped warship classes larger than Star Destroyers, ranging from Star Cruiser to Star Dreadnought models. In extreme cases, they are also large enough to be qualified as space stations.[6]

It was often used concurrently with the term Super-class Star Destroyer, both of which capitalized on the general “Star Destroyer” term, which, after getting popular exposure throughout the Clone Wars, came to symbolize weapons that in people’s minds could destroy entire star systems.

Darth Vader’s command ship, the Executor, was a Super Star Destroyer and one of the most famous Imperial vessels fielded, as was the even deadlier Eclipse, which served as one of Emperor Palpatine’s flagships.

T-47 Airspeeder
The Incom Corporation T-47 airspeeder was an airspeeder that became famous during the Galactic Civil War for its use by the Alliance to Restore the Republic as a military fighter known as the snowspeeder.
Wampa ice creatures were carnivorous predatory reptomammals indigenous to the remote Outer Rim Territories ice planet Hoth. The bipedal beasts stood over two meters in height with shaggy white fur constantly stained by the blood and guts of slaughtered prey. Wampas were armed with jagged yellow teeth and deadly claws. Primarily solitary hunters, wampas occasionally hunted in packs, preferring to ambush their prey from the camouflage of Hoth’s snow banks and blizzards. Stunned victims were carried back to the creatures’ lairs, typically large ice caves, where the wampas ate at their leisure. The planet’s omnivorous tauntauns formed the bulk of the wampas’ prey, although they would attack anything they encountered. The Alliance to Restore the Republic’s Echo Base on Hoth came under constant wampa assaults in 3 ABY.

While rarely seen away from their remote homeworld, wampas were known to have participated in illegal gladiatorial combat venues. They were highly valued among big-game hunters for the challenge that came with hunting the creatures, as well as for their pelts, stuffed heads, and other miscellaneous souvenirs that commanded high prices on the black market. Wampas were later protected under legislation to prevent endangered species from falling into extinction by the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances.

The Force
The Force was a metaphysical, binding, and ubiquitous power that held enormous importance for both the Jedi and Sith monastic orders. Known as the Way in ancient times, the Force was viewed in many different aspects, including, but not limited to, the light side, the dark side, the Unifying Force, and the Living Force. The first two aspects were concerned with the moral compass of the Force, as manifested by the conduct and emotions of living creatures who were themselves part of the fabric of the Force. The light side of the Force was the facet aligned with compassion, selflessness, self-knowledge and enlightenment, healing, mercy and benevolence, while the dark side of the Force was the element aligned with hatred, fear, covetousness, anger, aggression, jealousy and malevolence. The latter two aspects were defined by prominent Jedi philosophies: The Unifying Force essentially embraced space and time in its entirety while the Living Force dealt with the energy of living things. Though the Force was categorized in this way, there were no specific abilities or powers that were only usable by a follower of a particular path of the Force; the Force partially existed inside the life forms that used it, and drew energy from their emotions.

Some beings, particularly the Sith, believed that the dark side of the Force was more powerful than the light, though it was possible that the dark side was just more tempting to those who used it (or desired to use it). Others thought of the Force as an entity capable of intelligent thought, almost as a sort of deity. Anakin Skywalker, who was believed to have been conceived by the Force itself, may have shared this belief; if this was indeed the case, it would add credence towards the view of the Force as a sentient entity. Though the Force was thought to flow through every living thing, its power could only be harnessed by beings described as “Force-sensitive.” This Force-sensitivity was correlated with, and sometimes attributed to, a high count of internal microorganisms called midi-chlorians that were found in a Force-sensitive’s blood: the higher the count, the greater the being’s potential Force ability, though there were some exceptions to this rule. Force-sensitive beings were able to tap into the Force to perform acts of great skill and agility as well as control and shape the world around them. Sometimes this ability was described as having a strong Force “aura”.

Designed as much for elegance in combat as for ceremony, the lightsaber, also referred to as the “laser sword” by those who were unfamiliar with it, was a distinctive weapon, the very image of which was inextricably bound with the mythos of the Jedi Order and their polar opposites, the Sith. The lightsaber also became synonymous with the Jedi Order’s values to uphold peace and justice throughout the galaxy. This perception endured, despite the many conflicts with lightsaber-wielding Sith and Dark Jedi.

The weapon consisted of a blade of pure plasma emitted from the hilt and suspended in a force containment field. The field contained the immense heat of the plasma, protecting the wielder, and allowed the blade to keep its shape. The hilt was almost always self-fabricated by the wielder to match his or her specific needs, preferences and style. The hilt was also built similarly to his or her master’s lightsaber as a mark of respect. Due to the weightlessness of plasma and the strong gyroscopic effect generated by it, lightsabers required a great deal of strength and dexterity to wield, and it was extremely difficult—and dangerous—for the untrained to attempt using. However, in the hands of an expert of the Force, the lightsaber was a weapon to be greatly respected and feared. To wield a lightsaber was to demonstrate incredible skill and confidence, as well as masterful dexterity and attunement to the Force.

Tatooine (pronounced /tætu’in/; Jawaese: Tah doo Een e[9]) was a desert world and the first planet in the binary Tatoo star system. It was part of the Arkanis sector in the Outer Rim Territories. It was inhabited by poor locals who mostly farmed moisture for a living. Other activities included used equipment retailing and scrap dealing. The planet was on the 5709-DC Shipping Lane, a spur of the Triellus Trade Route, which itself connected to the Sisar Run. The planet was not far from the Corellian Run. It had its own navigation system. However, it would still play a role in galactic events, serving as the home of Anakin Skywalker. It was here that Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn recognized Anakin’s potential to become a Jedi and where he introduced him to Obi-Wan Kenobi, his future master and mentor. Tatooine was also the home of Anakin’s son, Luke, where he lived until his early adulthood. The planet acquired a bad reputation, often being viewed as the cesspool of the galaxy due to the large number of criminals who could be found there.
Major Derlin
Bren Derlin was a male Human officer of the Alliance to Restore the Republic. He joined the Alliance military after his father, anti-Imperial Senator Galen Derlin, was assassinated by agents of the Galactic Emperor. Showing his talent, Bren Derlin became a captain and served during the Battle of Ralltiir. His heroic actions saving lives during the Battle of Nentan merited him a new promotion, and Major Derlin served both in Alliance Intelligence and as the operations and security chief at the Alliance headquarters on the planet Hoth, Echo Base, under the command of General Carlist Rieekan. Derlin, in this post, gave the hardest orders in his life by closing the base door risking the lives of two valuable Rebels whom he himself considered his friends, to avoid putting the whole base in risk. Soon after this event, Derlin served during the Battle of Hoth.

A year later, Alliance General Han Solo asked Major Derlin to gather a commando team of Hoth veterans for a dangerous, yet vital, raid on an Imperial bunker on Endor. This would give the Alliance fleet a chance to fight the Empire during the Battle of Endor. Derlin was the planet-level unit leader during the operation and, while his team was captured, they made use of a diversion to obtain a victory.

During the years of the New Republic, Derlin worked with New Republic Intelligence, opposing crime lord Torel Vorne on Reuss VI. Derlin was then promoted to Colonel and, during the Thrawn campaign, managed a difficult operation to mislead the forces of the Empire: While Admiral Gial Ackbar and General Crix Madine staged a raid to the well-protected Bilbringi, Derlin moved starships to pretend that the New Republic was really targeting Tangrene. Imperial Grand Admiral Thrawn was not fooled by this maneuver.

Derlin became a Brigadier and then retired from active services. By 16 ABY, Derlin was the commander of the Alliance Veteran’s Victory Association, a retiree’s club that hoped to become active in reserve.

Admiral Piett
Firmus Piett was a Human male who was the last admiral of the Imperial Navy’s Death Squadron, Darth Vader’s personal fleet of Star Destroyers. Coming from humble beginnings on the backwater Outer Rim world of Axxila, Piett began his naval career with the Axxila antipirate fleet. Though his posting was not notable, Piett’s creativity and dedication made his home sector the safest in the Outer Rim. His ascension through the ranks, however, was not so much a tribute to his dedication, but his ability to shift blame onto others when mistakes were made. With an extraordinary number of arrests and suppressions to his name, as well as what appeared to be a perfectly clean record, Piett earned the attention of high-ranking officers on Imperial Center.

Transferred to the Imperial Navy, Piett was picked out to serve in Vader’s Death Squadron, which prowled the galaxy searching for Rebel Alliance headquarters. Given the captaincy of the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer Accuser, Piett served diligently until the command of the fleet’s flagship, the Star Dreadnought Executor, was vacant. As captain of the Executor, Piett relentlessly searched for the hidden Alliance base while secretly undermining his superior, Admiral Kendal Ozzel. At the Battle of Hoth, Ozzel was summarily executed by Vader for incompetence, allowing Piett to swiftly step into the admiral’s role.

Though he was criticized for his swift ascent to the top of the command chain, Piett set himself about his task with enthusiasm, though he feared that he would meet the same fate as Ozzel. He made several potentially fatal blunders soon after his promotion but was able to shift blame as he had done in the past. Following the failed capture of Luke Skywalker at Bespin, the Executor was taken back to Imperial Center, leaving Piett to command the Accuser once more. In 4 ABY, though, Piett was once again on the bridge of the Star Dreadnought, commanding the Imperial fleet in the Battle of Endor. Piett perished in the battle when an RZ-1 A-wing interceptor piloted by Arvel Crynyd rammed into the Executor’s bridge.

Admiral Ozzel
Kendal Ozzel was a male Human born into a wealthy Caridan family. After studying at multiple Core World military institutes, Ozzel graduated as a Captain of the Line but was delegated to teaching positions because his superiors had doubts about his ability to serve as an effective field commander. Nonetheless, at the advent of the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Ozzel was commissioned as a major in the Grand Army of the Republic by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine and went on to serve with the clone forces in multiple engagements. He continued to serve under Palpatine when the Republic was reorganized into the Galactic Empire.

Ozzel was eventually assigned as the captain of the Imperial-class Star Destroyer Reprisal, but he longed for a promotion to admiral. As commanding officer of the Reprisal, Ozzel oversaw campaigns against the Rebel Alliance in the Shelsha sector; on one such mission, Ozzel became involved in a plot to kill Emperor’s Hand Mara Jade when he erroneously believed her arrival aboard the Star Destroyer was part of a high-level investigation into the desertion of a group of stormtroopers. Jade became suspicious of the captain, finding him to be either disloyal or dim-witted, and recommended that the Sith Lord Darth Vader keep an eye on him. Naval command ultimately agreed with the move, promoting Ozzel to Fleet Admiral and placing him in command of Vader’s flagship, the Star Dreadnought Executor, believing that the man would not be foolish enough to butt heads with Vader.

His goals having come to fruition, Ozzel was charged with leading Vader’s Death Squadron in the search for the headquarters of the Rebel Alliance. Some saw Ozzel as the Sith Lord’s equal, but in actuality, he was nothing more than a figurehead—the true power rested in Vader’s hands. Ozzel’s personality more than often put him at odds with Vader, who considered him inept. Thus, when a probe droid relayed data of a settlement on the supposedly-uninhabited planet Hoth, Ozzel disagreed with Vader’s assertion that they had found the Rebel base. The Sith Lord overruled the admiral and ordered the Executor and Death Squadron to the Hoth system. Ozzel attempted to surprise the Alliance by bringing the fleet out of hyperspace near Hoth rather than approach from the system’s outskirts, but the tactical blunder only bought the Alliance time to raise their base’s energy shield and evacuate the world. Having tired of Ozzel’s incompetence, Vader telekinetically executed the admiral.

A-Wing Intercepter
The RZ-1 A-wing interceptor was a starfighter designed by the Rebel Alliance during the Galactic Civil War. One of the fastest mass-produced interceptors in the known galaxy, the A-wing was even faster than the Imperials’ TIE Interceptor, despite also having shielding and a hyperdrive, unlike the cheaper TIE model.
2-1B (or Too-Onebee) was a 2-1B surgical droid that joined the Alliance to Restore the Republic as a medic.

The droid was highly sophisticated, belonging to the older, yet remarkably astute 2-1B series. Because of his intellect, Too-Onebee was fiercely independent and morality-driven. His gentle touch can be attributed to his precise hydraulic systems, which utilized several liquids at different temperatures.

Captain Needa
Lorth Needa was a Human male fleet officer in the Republic Navy during the Clone Wars and the Imperial Navy during the Galactic Civil War. He served as lieutenant commander of the Republic Carrack-class cruiser Integrity in Home Fleet Strike Group Five of the Coruscant Home Fleet during the Battle of Coruscant, in which he was prepared to destroy General Grievous’s flagship, the Invisible Hand, should the general be unable to prove that Supreme Chancellor Palpatine was being held captive aboard the warship. During the Imperial era, Needa was promoted to captain of the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer Avenger by Fleet Admiral Kendal Ozzel and assigned to Darth Vader’s Death Squadron, often being tasked with following up on certain leads regarding the location of the Rebel Alliance’s hidden headquarters. Needa served as one of Ozzel’s advisors, earning him the distrust of both Vader and Emperor Palpatine.

In the aftermath of the Battle of Hoth, where General Maximilian Veers’s assault on Echo Base forced the Rebels into fleeing, Needa and the Avenger were charged with capturing Han Solo’s YT-1300 light freighter, the Millennium Falcon, and her crew. The Falcon outran the pursuing Star Destroyers and hid within the Hoth asteroid field, but the Avenger plunged into the field, intent on completing its assignment. The search proved to be hazardous as the warship sustained damage, and its gunners were forced to fire on the asteroids rather than remain alert for the elusive freighter. Nevertheless, when the Falcon emerged from the maelstrom, the Avenger was right behind the freighter. Before Needa could detain the craft, Solo charged the Avenger and landed on a blind spot on the aft of the destroyer’s conning tower; as a result, the destroyer’s sensors could not find the vessel. Believing to have failed his mission, Needa went to the Star Dreadnought Executor to personally apologize to Vader. The Dark Lord of the Sith accepted his apology after making sure that the captain would never fail again. Two Imperial Navy troopers then dragged Needa’s lifeless body away.

Carlist Rieekan
Carlist Rieekan was an Alderaanian general who, throughout his life, served the Galactic Republic, the Alliance to Restore the Republic, the Alliance of Free Planets, the New Republic, and the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances. He joined the Republic’s Judicial Forces at the age of seventeen before serving in the Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. With the advent of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine’s ascension to Emperor and the installment of the Galactic Empire in 19 BBY, Rieekan immediately rejected the new regime. Instead, he chose to serve the Royal House of Alderaan as a civilian tactician, before becoming one of the founding members of the Alliance to Restore the Republic, a rebellion against the rule of the Emperor.

When the Imperial Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin brought the Death Star superweapon to bear on Alderaan, Rieekan was at nearby Delaya. He received a massive influx of distress calls and requests for evacuation, but hesitated to aid Alderaan, as he felt that his involvement would have implicated Alderaan at large as having ties to the illegal rebellion movement. Within minutes, Tarkin’s battlestation fired its superlaser, destroying Alderaan in flash. Rieekan was shattered, and blamed himself for the disaster, as he felt his hesitation had cost many Alderaanians their lives. The incident took its toll on Rieekan, as he became an overly morose and paranoid man.

He was later tasked with command of the Alliance’s Echo Base on Hoth, and also worked closely with the pilot Luke Skywalker’s Rogue Squadron unit. Over the years, Rieekan collaborated with the Alderaanian princess, Leia Organa, and his insistence on thorough security and evacuation measures after the destruction of his homeworld proved instrumental to the Alliance when Lord Darth Vader’s Death Squadron moved against Echo Base. Rieekan later oversaw Haven Base on Arbra, and would go on to serve as Minister of State and Director of Intelligence for the New Republic, the Alliance’s successor state. The general eventually retired, only to be brought back into service during the Yuuzhan Vong War, during which he aided in the failed defense of Coruscant.

BARC Speeder
The Biker Advanced Recon Commando (BARC) speeder was a powerful speeder bike model used by the Grand Army of the Republic as a reconnaissance craft during the Clone Wars. It was manufactured by Aratech Repulsor Company. A civilian variant, Police BARC speeder also saw extensive use on Coruscant.
Hoth was the sixth planet of the remote Hoth system. A desolate world covered with ice and snow, located in the Anoat sector, a rarely-traveled portion of the Outer Rim Territories, it became famous as the one-time location of the Alliance to Restore the Republic’s Echo Base during the Galactic Civil War. The base was discovered by the Empire in 3 ABY, precipitating the Battle of Hoth, a major engagement during which the Rebels suffered heavy casualties and lost Echo Base.
V-Wing Starfighter
The Alpha-3 Nimbus-class V-wing starfighter, often simply known as the V-wing starfighter or Nimbus fighter, was a short-ranged starfighter deployed late in the Clone Wars by the Galactic Republic.[7]

V-wing were later succeeded by the Imperial TIE Fighter[8] and its variants, as well as the Rebel RZ-1 A-wing interceptor, all of which incorporated aspects of the V-wing into their designs.

Darth Malgus
Darth Malgus
Darth Malgus was a Human male Sith Lord of the Sith Empire during the Great Galactic War. He was born under the name Veradun within Imperial space, and raised by his adoptive father. While still young, Veradun killed a Twi’lek servant on his father’s estate, revealing the dark will behind his sensitivity to the Force. The young boy was subsequently sent to the Sith Academy on the Imperial capital of Dromund Kaas, where he became a Sith Warrior and a successful commander of the Imperial Military. During a trip to the Outer Rim world of Geonosis, Veradun discovered the Twi’lek slave girl Eleena Daru and took her as his own. Although she was technically his slave, the two fell in love with one another and fought side by side in many battles during the Great Galactic War against the Galactic Republic. Veradun later eschewed his birth name and adopted the Sith moniker of Darth Malgus.

In the beginning, Malgus and his Master Vindican had led the victorious recapture of the Sith world Korriban, before the former struck down the latter for being injured at the hands of Jedi Master Kao Cen Darach. At the height of the war, Malgus led a surprise assault on the Core World of Alderaan; though initially successful, Malgus and his forces were defeated in a concentrated Republic counterattack led by his nemesis from Korriban, future Grand Master Satele Shan. The Sith Lord was heavily wounded during the battle, and was forced to wear a respirator for the remainder of his life. In 3653 BBY, the Empire entered into sham peace negotiations with the Republic, which were truthfully nothing more than a distraction from the Sith’s true target: the Republic capital of Coruscant. Malgus was chosen by his superior Darth Angral to participate in the attack on Coruscant as the leader of a strike team that would invade the Jedi Temple. Malgus succeeded in killing a substantial number of Jedi defenders — including Jedi Master Ven Zallow, who has been recognized as Malgus’s most notable kill — before the Sith fleet arrived to lay waste to the rest of the world. By the end of the engagement, the Sith had destroyed the Jedi Temple, killed half of the members of the Jedi High Council, and disgraced the Jedi Order in the eyes of the Republic.

Although Malgus had been under the impression that the Imperial Armada was going to raze Coruscant and destroy the Republic once and for all, the battle was ultimately used only as leverage in the peace negotiations on Alderaan. While the Alderaanian summit progressed, the Sith settled into an occupation of Coruscant. Malgus was placed in charge of orbital security, but the Sith Lord defied his orders and traveled back to Coruscant’s surface to strike against the renegade Jedi Aryn Leneer, who was targeting Malgus for his murder of her Master, Ven Zallow. Although Leneer ultimately failed, the conflict caused Malgus to become disillusioned with the Empire and to review his relationship with Daru as a weakness. Thus, he was forced to kill his lover to preserve his own power, which he later used to cleanse the Empire of the politicians whom he blamed for allowing the Republic to survive. During the Cold War years that followed the successful peace negotiations, Malgus led Sith forces into the Unknown Regions, claiming previously-unknown territories for the Empire.

Towards the end of the Cold War, following the presumed death of the Sith Emperor, Malgus came to the fore and declared a new Empire, one free of the infighting of the Dark Council. In time, however, he was tracked down to his secret base and defeated.

AT-AT Walker
AT-AT Walker
The All Terrain Armored Transport (AT-AT) walker, also known as the Imperial Walker, was a major part of the Galactic Empire’s army. It was one of the most heavily armored land vehicles in the Imperial Army, but was also known for its relatively slow speed.
AT-TE Walker
The All Terrain Tactical Enforcer (AT-TE), sometimes called tanks by clone troopers, was an all terrain assault walker developed for the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) during the Clone Wars. The walker was used for numerous tasks including, but not limited to, transporting platoons of clone troopers on the battlefield and attacking enemy installations. AT-TE’s rear compartment contained computer hologram communication devices and space for troopers to stand during transportation. On the back end of the machine was a large door that allowed for quick deployment of troopers in a battle. Some versions of the walker were able to scale vertical cliffs, as evidenced in the Battle of Teth. The typical arsenal of an AT-TE included a mass-driver cannon on top along with six other laser cannons placed strategically around the outside of the vehicle.

AT-TEs were first used in action during the First Battle of Geonosis in 22 BBY during the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Due to the vehicle’s success in the battle, Rothana designed numerous other walkers for use by the GAR. The walker served in countless battles across the galaxy and eventually became part of the Imperial Army after the transformation of the Republic into the Galactic Empire. The AT-TE was a precursor to the Empire’s All Terrain Armored Transport.

AT-OT Walker
The All Terrain Open Transport (AT-OT) was a walking troop carrier used by the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars.
Low Altitude Assault Transport/Carrier
The Low Altitude Assault Transport/carrier, known more simply as the LAAT/c, was a vehicle carrier variant of Rothana Heavy Engineering’s Low Altitude Assault Transport series of repulsorlift gunships developed for the Grand Army of the Republic. Beginning with the First Battle of Geonosis in 22 BBY, the LAAT/c saw use throughout the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems and in the years afterward. Manned by a single pilot, the LAAT/c was originally designed to deploy All Terrain Tactical Enforcers onto battlefields, though it was soon modified to accommodate a number of additional vehicles as the Clone Wars progressed, using powerful magnetic clamps to hold payloads in place. The LAAT/c shared the same rear-wing configuration common to all LAAT gunships, though it lacked the undercarriage that the more common Low Altitude Assault Transport/infantry used to carry clone troopers into battle, and also lacked the heavy armament of its cousins.
Darth Angral
Darth Angral was a Human male Sith Lord serving the Sith Empire during the time of the Great Galactic War. Known across the galaxy for his lust for blood, he led the Sacking of Coruscant and killed Supreme Chancellor Berooken himself. He was one of the Sith Lords that felt offended by the Treaty of Coruscant that followed afterwards.

During the Cold War, Angral sent his son, Tarnis, to infiltrate the Galactic Republic and steal the Planet Prison superweapon from Coruscant. When Tarnis was killed at the hands of a rising Jedi Knight, Angral vowed to unleash his vengeance across the entire galaxy.

In his quest for revenge, Angral sent his subordinates and Sith apprentices to combine more components with the Planet Prison for his latest new weapon: the Desolator. With it, he would destroy the Jedi Order and the Republic by taking out a single planet. However, it came at a cost: Watcher One was apprehended by the Knight who killed Tarnis; his apprentices Sadic and Nefarid were killed; and Praven was turned to the light side of the Force and welcomed by the Jedi. Despite the losses, Angral had what he needed.

After testing the firepower of the Desolator on Uphrades, Angral set his sights on the Jedi homeworld of Tython. The Knight and his Padawan, Kira Carsen, boarded Angral’s flagship Oppressor and confronted the awaiting Sith Lord. There, the Voice of the Sith Emperor possessed Carsen as she was one of his Children, commanding Angral to destroy the Knight. Angral fought hard in the Emperor’s name, but he was no match for the strength of the Jedi who would become known as the Hero of Tython.

Supreme Chancellor Berooken
Berooken was a male Mon Calamari politician who served as the Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic during the latter days of the Great Galactic War between the Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire. Berooken was in office in 3653 BBY, when the Empire’s Dark Council proposed that the two governments convene to discuss the possibility of a peace agreement after nearly three decades of war. The Galactic Senate agreed to the call for peace, but the Chancellor chose not to attend the peace summit on Alderaan on the advice of the High Council of the Jedi Order. In the Chancellor’s place, Berooken sent the Cerean Senator Paran Am-Ris to represent the Republic Senate in the conference.

The summit ultimately turned out to be nothing more than a diversion crafted by the Sith in order to draw attention away from their true target—the Republic’s capital world of Coruscant. While the delegates from the two galactic superpowers began their deliberations on Alderaan, the Empire attacked the capital in a massive invasion that came to be known as the Sacking of Coruscant. During the attack, the leader of the Sith force, Darth Angral, breached the Senate Tower and killed Supreme Chancellor Berooken. As a result of the Sacking of Coruscant and Berooken’s death, Senator Am-Ris was forced to agree to the Sith-authored Treaty of Coruscant, which firmly placed the Republic as the war’s loser.

Desolator (superweapon)
The Desolator was a superweapon built by the Sith Empire during the Cold War with the Galactic Republic. Combining the technologies of the Planet Prison, Shock Drum, and Death Mark laser—all weapons projects stolen from the Republic superweapon initiative—the Desolator was a ship-mounted weapon designed as a planet killer. Built by the Sith Lord Darth Angral during the Desolator crisis, the weapon was the central part of his plan to exact revenge upon the Jedi Knight who had killed his son Tarnis. The Desolator’s first and only successful test of its capabilities was on the agriworld of Uphrades, but the destruction of Angral’s warship Oppressor above the Jedi homeworld of Tython brought the weapon’s short-lived reign of terror to an end. The technology would later be salvaged by Imperial engineers, giving rise to the far less powerful Firestorm Turbolaser.
Planet Prison
The Planet Prison was a superweapon developed by the Galactic Republic during the Cold War with the Sith Empire. Created by Doctor Nasan Godera and weaponized by a team of scientists under the leadership of Doctor Tarnis—in actuality a Sith Lord and the son of the notorious Darth Angral—the weapon was intended as a way to peacefully blockade a planet. When the project’s prototype neared completion, Tarnis attempted to steal the device and use it on the Republic capital world of Coruscant through an elaborate ruse with the help of the Migrant Merchants’ Guild and Black Sun criminal organizations. However, Tarnis was killed in the ruins of the Jedi Temple by a young Jedi Knight, and the device was destroyed before it could be fired. The technology would be later combined with several other weapons by Darth Angral into the ship-mounted Desolator superweapon, which the Sith Lord used to devastate the planet Uphrades, although the Jedi Knight defeated Angral aboard his warship above Tython just before the ship was destroyed by Republic fighters.
Shock Drum
The Shock Drum was a Superweapon created by the Galactic Republic during the Cold War with the Sith Empire.

A large ovoid device the size of a cavern, when activated it generated intense ultrasonic vibrations that disable droids and other technology in an ever widening circle with the Shock Drum at its epicenter. The Shock Drum’s vibrations become increasingly powerful the longer it was left on and in time resulted in massive seismic groundquakes and damage and even death to organic life within range as their molecules literally vibrated apart.

It was originally conceived of as a device for deployment against enemy fortifications and military bases where it would soften them up by disabling and weakening their defenses. However it was discovered by Republic scientists that over a prolonged period it would cause the core of a planet to destabilize eventually causing it to reach critical mass and literally shatter apart, destroying the entire planet. Following this discovery the head of the Republic’s superweapons program, General Var Suthra shut the project down and they only ever produced a single prototype based on Tatooine.

Unfortunately for the Republic, the details of the Shock Drum were among those plans stolen by Sith infiltrator Sith Lord Tarnis. This resulted in the Sith, under the command of Darth Angral seizing control of the project and stealing the prototype. On learning that the Jedi responsible for his son’s death was on Tatooine, Darth Angral ordered his subordinate Lord Praven to activate the Shock Drum and destroy Tatooine in order to kill the Jedi and his companions. However, Praven disobeyed his master’s order to destroy the new deactivation code, believing he should face the Jedi Knight honourably. Fortunately, after defeating Praven in a duel the Sith surrendered to him and was convinced to join the Jedi Order. With his help the Jedi Knight was able to shut down the Shock Drum before it destabilized the planet’s core.

Firestorm Turbolaser
The Firestorm Turbolaser was an adaption of the Desolator superweapon developed by the Sith Empire for use in the Battle of Corellia. Consisting of an suspended ovoid with two turbolaser barrels attached, the weapon superheated its targets to literally set the air aflame. However, the Jedi Knight known as the Hero of Tython was able to destroy the three Firestorm Turbolasers that the Empire had deployed in Axial Park, ending the threat.
Mark 1 droid walker
Mark 1 automated walkers were small automated AT-PT-like battle droids used by the Galactic Empire.
The All Terrain Personal Transport (AT-PT) was a light anti-infantry walker used by the Galactic Republic and, later, the Galactic Empire. It was manufactured by Rothana Heavy Engineering, a subsidiary of Kuat Drive Yards. Made to take a single trooper into an intense combat situation on his own, it was the basis for the AT-ST and AT-AT.
Gloom Walkers
The Gloom Walkers was a unit in the Sith army during the New Sith Wars in the years leading up to the Seventh Battle of Ruusan. The Gloom Walkers were commanded by Lieutenant Ulabore. During the New Sith Wars, the Gloom Walkers went from an expendable front-line unit to an elite group reserved for important and difficult missions due to a high success rate, which was largely due to the efforts of one of their troopers, Sergeant Dessel. Dessel was a Force-sensitive, and his latent Force abilities guided them to many victories.

From the years 1003 BBY to 1002 BBY, the unit participated in scores of battles, including ones on Kashyyyk, Trandosha, and Phaseera. In 1002 BBY, the unit fought in the Battle of Phaseera, where Dessel staged a mutiny, knocking out Ulabore and taking command of the unit. Dessel led the Gloom Walkers to capture a critical Republic outpost, where he killed a large number of Republic soldiers even after being blinded by a flash canister. His incredible feats during the battle were reported to the Brotherhood of Darkness, who took him away for training in the dark side of the Force. Afterward, the trooper Lucia killed Ulabore during a skirmish on Alaris Prime in revenge for the arrest of Dessel.

Terror Walker
The Terror Walker was a massive droid attack walker developed by the Galactic Empire. It was designed to plow through large obstructions and annihilate anything in its path.
Jedi Intercepter
The Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor, sometimes referred to as the Jedi interceptor due to its extensive use by Jedi pilots, was a Republic starfighter used late in the Clone Wars that shared design elements with the Republic’s Delta-7 and Delta-7B starfighters, as well as the TIE fighters of the later Galactic Empire. The Galactic Alliance would later come to utilize a successor, the Eta-5 interceptor.
Delta-6 Starfighter
The Delta-6 starfighter was a short-range light starfighter used by the Jedi Order during the time of the Invasion of Naboo. It was the predecessor of the Delta-7 Aethersprite-class interceptor.
Jedi Starfigter
Jedi starfighter was the term used to describe any starfighter normally piloted by a Jedi.
Delta-7 Aethersprite-class light Intercepter
The Delta-7 Aethersprite-class light interceptor, more commonly known as the Jedi starfighter due to its extensive use by Jedi, was an interceptor commissioned just before the outbreak of the Clone Wars in 22 BBY.

The starfighter was considered highly advanced at the time of its creation and carried sophisticated equipment, but it was expensive to produce. The ship was armed with two twin laser cannons (later models modified by Jedi Master Saesee Tiin would contain four quad-pulse laser cannons hidden behind breakaway panels, in addition to its usual complement of two twin laser cannons), and an advanced communication and sensor array kept the pilot of the ship well-prepared in firefights as well as peacetime.

The Delta-7 fighter was fairly prominent in the Clone Wars, mainly due to its use by Jedi. One of the most famous encounters and tests of the Delta-7 was the tracking of bounty hunter Jango Fett by Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi through the asteroid fields of Geonosis.

Delta-7B Aethersprite-class light interceptor
The Delta-7B Aethersprite-class light interceptor was a short-range light starfighter used by the Jedi Order during the Clone Wars.
Whitecloak fighters
Whitecloak fighters were modified CloakShape fighters employed by the Jedi Order prior to the Clone Wars.
The All Terrain Recon Transport (AT-RT) was a one-man bipedal walker used for reconnaissance and patrolling, first by the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars, and later on by the Galactic Empire and Alliance to Restore the Republic and was made in Kuat Drive Yards.
B-Wing Starfighter
The B-wing heavy assault starfighter, known simply as the B-wing starfighter, was one of the largest and most heavily armed starfighters/bombers in the Rebel Alliance’s fleet. The name B-wing came from the craft’s remote similarity in appearance to the lowercase letter “b”, although its swordlike shape in attack mode has earned it the nickname “blade-wing”, which may be another reason for the “b” prefix.

Known as “crosses” due to their distinct shape, the B-wing was designed by the Verpine company Slayn & Korpil in cooperation with then-Commander Gial Ackbar as part of the Shantipole Project. The B-wing, though difficult to fly, participated in numerous engagements across the galaxy during the latter parts of the Galactic Civil War, including the Battle of Endor and the liberation of Coruscant. The B-wing was used in its primary role of assault starfighter by both the New Republic and the Galactic Alliance throughout the Yuuzhan Vong War and beyond.

Later models included a two-man version that could be used as a small transport.

E-Wing Starfighter
The E-wing escort starfighter was a single-pilot starfighter developed by FreiTek Inc. It was the first fighter designed entirely under the support of the New Republic.

As designed, the E-wing was intended to match, or exceed, the performance of the preceding X-wing series in nearly every respect, and was originally intended to replace the older design in New Republic service. However, the craft suffered from some significant problems when first deployed among front-line squadrons, including malfunction issues with the laser cannons and the new R7 astromech units. As a result, many pilots continued to fly upgraded versions of the venerable X-wing.

Despite the initial problems, improved models of the E-wing would see wide spread use by the New Republic, particularly by the Fifth Fleet, and later by the Galactic Alliance. They would play a significant role in every engagement from the Black Fleet Crisis, through the Yuuzhan Vong War, and beyond.

By the time of the Second Galactic Civil War, the E-wing had matured into an excellent starfighter design and equipped several elite squadrons of the Galactic Alliance. However, it never achieved the same popularity or wide spread use as the X-wing.

R7 series
The R7-series astromech droid was an astromech droid produced by Industrial Automaton shortly after the Battle of Endor. The R7-series was designed specifically for use with the New Republic E-wing escort starfighter.
Astromech Droid
Astromech Droid
An astromech droid, also referred to as an astro droid, was a type of droid that served as an automated mechanic, performing a variety of repair duties and often serving as an adjunct or substitute for a nav computer on smaller starships. Astromech droids could also use the mainframes of larger ships to their advantage. Many starfighters relied on astromech copilots.
R3-Series Astrmech Droid
The R3-series astromech droid was an astromech model developed and sold by the droidmaker Industrial Automaton (IA). The R3 came at the heels of IA’s blockbuster launch of the R2-series astromech droid as the company rushed to capitalize on their new dominance of the maintenance and repair droid market. The R3’s designers copied the R2’s general aesthetic, including the bright, contrasting color trim on a white metal chassis. The obvious difference in the factory unit was its head: the R2’s opaque dome was swapped for a clear dome of plastex or transparisteel. The transparency gave the droid’s internal sensor package greater range and showcased the R3’s other major distinction, its newly updated Intellex V computer brain. Over time, however, some units’ original domes were replaced with opaque ones or painted over carelessly.

Unlike its predecessor, the R3 was designed specifically for use by militaries and high-tech government agencies—IA developed another niche product, the R4-series agromech droid, to appeal to a broader clientele. The R3’s Intellex V was capable of housing an immense amount of data; those units bought by the Galactic Republic had a database of detailed specifications on every vessel in the Republic Navy. Armed with this information, the R3 worked in cooperation with gunnery crews, security troopers, and naval chiefs of operation aboard capital-scale warships and at battlestations. Though its primary function was as a capital ship astromech, it could still operate as a plug-in droid for starfighters, holding up to five hyperspace jump coordinates in its astrogation buffer. The R3 had a genial and chummy personality, which allowed it to coordinate easily with large crews of organic sentients.

Due to the sensitive nature of the R3’s programming, the rather expensive model was sold only to recognized government militaries. The Galactic Republic purchased 125 million of the droids during IA’s initial production run, and later the Galactic Empire used R3s aboard its Star Destroyers and Death Star battlestations. Following the fall of the Empire, in an effort to maintain friendly relations with the New Republic, Industrial Automaton’s policy restricted it from knowingly selling to the Imperial Remnant or known Imperial factions. Nevertheless, R3 units found their way into the hands of pirates, private spacers, the Rebel Alliance, and other groups through various black market channels.

R3-A2 was an orange R3-series astromech droid. It was seen in the Rebel base during the Battle of Hoth in 3 ABY.

Like other R3 droids manufactured by Industrial Automaton, R3-A2 was designed for high tech work on military installations. The clear plastex dome shows off a newly-updated Intellex V computer system, which contained detailed statistics on thousands of military starships. R3-A2 could hold up to 5 hyperspace jumps in active memory, and could also coordinate piloting coordinates and approach angles during combat. His eye was a round kind unlike most R3 units.

R3-S6 was a masculine programmed R3-series astromech droid manufactured by Industrial Automaton on the planet Nubia around the time of the Clone Wars. On his homeworld, R3-S6 was stolen by a group of agents hired by the Confederate General Grievous. They took R3-S6 to the planet Milagro where the astromech droid underwent reprogramming to become a spy for Grievous. The reprogrammed R3-S6 was sold to the Galactic Republic to become Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker’s new astromech droid, as a replacement droid for R2-D2, Skywalker’s previous astromech droid. R3-S6 accompanied Skywalker and his Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, as the two Jedi searched for Skywalker’s previous astromech droid in the remnants of the Battle of Bothawui in Bothawui space. When the group came across a Trandoshan scavenging freighter in the battle aftermath’s debris field, R3-S6, Skywalker, and Tano boarded the vessel to find R2-D2.

After the unsuccessful search aboard the freighter, R3-S6 and Skywalker embarked on a new mission to sweep through suspected Confederate space. The operation was thwarted by Grievous, who tracked Skywalker via the Jedi Knight’s starfighter homing beacon, though R3-S6 and Skywalker were rescued by the timely arrival of Tano aboard Skywalker’s freighter. Inside the ship, R3-S6 and Tano received a transmission from R2-D2, and Skywalker ordered them to track the signal which led the group to Skytop Station, a Confederate listening post. In the station, Skywalker went to find R2-D2, while R3-S6, Tano, and a group of clone troopers left to destroy the station’s reactor core. R3-S6 watched as Grievous confronted Tano’s group and attacked Tano, though the Padawan retreated with R3-S6 to a storage room. As the Padawan hid from Grievous in the room for some time, Tano spotted R3-S6 conferring with Grievous and found out the droid’s true allegiance. The droid soon left Tano, and found Skywalker in the base’s hangar, who also found out that R3-S6 was a spy droid. R3-S6 was destroyed when he was hit by flying debris after a brawl with R2-D2 on a catwalk outside the listening post.

R3-D-Series Astromech Droid
The R3-D-series astromech droid was developed near the end of the Galactic Republic. The astromech droids were used to assist target acquisition and management on starfighters. The use of the droids allowed the pilot to concentrate on flying the craft. The original design of the Delta-7 starfighter called for an R3-D astromech.
Mara Jade Skywalker
Mara Jade Skywalker was, during different times in her life, an Emperor’s Hand, a smuggler, and later a Jedi Master who sat upon the Jedi High Council. She was raised as a servant to Emperor Palpatine and became a high-level Force-using operative. As an Emperor’s Hand, Jade carried out the Emperor’s bidding, killing Rebels and corrupt Imperials alike with cold professionalism, even as a young woman. As Palpatine’s assassin, she received top-notch training from experts in a variety of fields as well as training in the Force, which was continued by Luke Skywalker years later. After Palpatine’s death, she received his last command, which was to kill Luke Skywalker; however, the death of her Master caused her to go rogue. Eventually she joined smuggler chief Talon Karrde, becoming one of his best smugglers and his second-in-command. During the predations of Grand Admiral Thrawn, she was forced to work with Skywalker, and developed a grudging respect for him. During the Galactic Civil War, Mara Jade proved herself skilled in a variety of fields; she was a good pilot and mechanic and trained in the use of both a blaster and hand-to-hand combat even without relying on the Force.

Over the years, she continued to work for Karrde and interact with Skywalker intermittently, training at his Jedi Praxeum on Yavin 4 for a short period of time. She was groomed by Karrde to take over the Smugglers’ Alliance and had a brief relationship with Lando Calrissian as part of that role, although she later admitted it was a charade. She also continued to grow closer to Skywalker and worked alongside him on numerous occasions, including the Almanian Uprising and the First Corellian Insurrection. The two finally realized in 19 ABY while on a mission to Nirauan that they were in love, and wanted to spend the rest of their lives together.

After marrying Skywalker, Mara Jade took the surname Skywalker and devoted her life to the New Jedi Order, becoming a Master in her own right. Shortly before the Yuuzhan Vong War, she fell ill due to deadly coomb spores that she’d been infected with by a Yuuzhan Vong agent. She used the Force to slow their progress even as she continued to fight against the alien invaders on numerous battlefields including Dantooine and Ithor, but the disease was only purged from her system after the birth of her son Ben in 26 ABY. After becoming a Master, Jade Skywalker took her niece Jaina Solo as an apprentice until she reached Knighthood. During that time, she participated in Jedi offensives against the Yuuzhan Vong, aiding in the war effort. After the fall of Coruscant, she helped Cal Omas become elected as the Chief of State as the New Republic reorganized itself into the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances. Jade Skywalker ultimately saw her efforts against the Yuuzhan Vong rewarded in the war’s final battle on Coruscant with the destruction of Supreme Overlord Shimrra Jamaane.

In the following years, Jade Skywalker was active during the Dark Nest Crisis and the subsequent Swarm War, wherein she helped to thwart the expansionist plans of Raynar Thul and the insectoid Killiks who were spreading into Chiss space and subverting many other people into becoming Joiners under the influence of several Dark Jedi. Jade Skywalker was insistent that the Jedi who had joined Killik communities would be withdrawn, as they were using their skills in combat against the Chiss, provoking them. She continued to serve by the side of her husband as a Jedi Master during the Second Galactic Civil War, first serving alongside the Galactic Alliance against the rebellious Confederation. The re-emergence of the Sith Lady Lumiya was another threat that Jade Skywalker had to confront, but though she and her husband skirmished with both Lumiya and the fallen Jedi Alema Rar on multiple occasions, the darksiders escaped. As the war escalated, Jade Skywalker was killed by her nephew, Jacen Solo, whom she had learned was a Sith and therefore saw as a threat to her family personally, to the Jedi Order, and to the galaxy at large.

Darth Plagueis
Darth Plagueis—born under the name of Hego Damask and remembered as Darth Plagueis the Wise—was a Muun Dark Lord of the Sith, Magister of Damask Holdings, and heir to the lineage of Darth Bane. Trained by Darth Tenebrous, Plagueis was a master of midi-chlorian manipulation. Obsessed with eternal life, he experimented with ways to cheat death and create new life from the midi-chlorians. As Magister Hego Damask of the InterGalactic Banking Clan, he backed the rise and fall of certain star systems, businesses, and crime lords, earning him many enemies and putting the Galactic Republic into turmoil.

One of Plagueis’ greatest contributions to the history of the galaxy was training Darth Sidious in the ways of the Sith and the dark side of the Force, whom he incited to take control of the galaxy and bring about a new age of the Sith. For decades, he had helped Sidious, known publicly as Palpatine from Naboo, rise to the position of Senator and played a hand in his apprentice’s election as the Supreme Chancellor of the Republic in 32 BBY. Together, they instigated the Yinchorri Uprising in 34 BBY, the Invasion of Naboo, and the war that would destroy the Jedi Order and the Republic in years to come. They were even unwittingly responsible for the procreation of Anakin Skywalker, the Chosen One.

Plagueis planned to be appointed co-chancellor of the Republic so that he may advise Sidious from the dark and devote himself to his own research. But his apprentice had other plans. Sidious, convinced that his master had outlived his usefulness, eventually killed the Muun in his sleep the night before his election and eventually rose to become ruler of the Galactic Empire.

Sidious later recounted the tale as The Tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise—an “old Sith legend”—to sway Anakin Skywalker to the dark side, though Plagueis himself remained a mysterious figure to the Jedi and their allies well into the time of the Galactic Alliance.

Darth Caedus
The son of Han and Leia Organa Solo, Jacen Solo was a leading Jedi Knight who proved crucial in defeating the Yuuzhan Vong and protecting the galaxy during the Yuuzhan Vong War. The grandson of Darth Vader, Darth Caedus was a Sith Lord who turned against his family and friends, betraying his former principles and leading the Galactic Alliance he once championed into a reign of terror as he attempted to bring order and stability to a fractured galaxy. It was Solo’s desire to protect the galaxy and his increasing willingness to accept any cost in that cause that facilitated his fall to the Sith.

Born in 9 ABY, Jacen Solo spent most of his early years as the target of various kidnapping plots and schemes against his famous parents. When he was thirteen, he and his twin sister Jaina began attending the Jedi Praxeum on Yavin 4, where their uncle Luke Skywalker taught them the ways of the Force. There he made several friends, among them the Hapan princess Tenel Ka Djo, to whom he became strongly attracted. While training, he and his friends defeated numerous plots against the New Republic and, in 24 ABY, he and his younger brother Anakin were apprenticed to Skywalker. A philosopher who struggled with the idea of employing violence to fight violence, Solo entered a personal crisis with the outbreak of the Yuuzhan Vong War. He preferred to serve off the front lines, but felt obligated to volunteer for the strike team assembled to eliminate the voxyn queen at Myrkr. There, Anakin Solo was killed and Jacen Solo stepped up to lead the team, killing the queen and ending the voxyn threat before he was captured by the Yuuzhan Vong.

Solo spent nearly a year in captivity, during which he was tortured for weeks at a time. Solo struggled with his circumstances and with the teachings of his captor and mentor, Vergere. He slipped to the dark side before returning and embracing the idea of responding to the universe with unconditional, all-encompassing love. He escaped Yuuzhan Vong custody with Vergere, a former Jedi of the Old Republic, and rejoined the war effort. In the final battle of the war, Solo stormed Supreme Overlord Shimrra Jamaane’s Citadel and defeated Onimi, who was mentally controlling the Supreme Overlord, while Solo himself experienced a moment of unity with the Force.

Afterward, he spent five years visiting and learning from various Force-using sects. During his time with the Mind Walkers, he experienced a vision of a dark figure ruling the galaxy and became determined to prevent its fulfillment. He returned to the Jedi during the Dark Nest Crisis and, armed with a more ruthless philosophy of accepting various sacrifices in the name of the greater good, conspired to eliminate the Killiks to prevent another vision of galactic war and protect his infant daughter Allana, secretly conceived with Tenel Ka Djo. In 40 ABY, Solo agreed to become the Sith apprentice of Lumiya after probing the future and finding that, if he did not do so, he would kill Luke Skywalker and the galaxy would be consumed by chaos. He embarked on a year-long descent into the dark side, slowly turning against the Jedi and his family as he grew darker and more extreme. After seizing control of the Galactic Alliance, killing Mara Jade Skywalker, torturing his former apprentice Ben Skywalker, committing multiple atrocities, taking Tahiri Veila as his official Sith apprentice, and ascending to Sith Mastery as Darth Caedus, he was finally killed by his twin sister Jaina.

Jedi Grand Master
Jedi Grand Master
Grand Master was a title used in both the Old and New Jedi Orders to describe the recognized head of the Order. While separate from the title Master of the Order, which was used to describe the elected leader of the Jedi High Council, the positions were often filled by the same person.

CR-2 Heavy Blaster Pistol
The CR-2 heavy blaster pistol was a basic yet durable heavy blaster pistol used by the Royal Naboo Security Forces. They were famous for being able to deflect off certain surfaces yet penetrate armor.

The CR-2, standard weapon of the Royal Naboo Security Forces.

The CR-2 blaster was a basic blaster design created by the little-known Corellian Arms corporation, and was the first mass-produced version of the modern blaster weapon introduced on Naboo. The CR-2 primarily fired bolts of charged plasma energy, but a secondary firing mode allowed the weapon to discharge electrical stun charges capable of stunning most living targets. The CR-2 pistol became an antique on most Core Worlds long before the Naboo Security Forces adopted it as the standard-issue sidearm for its Security Guards and police officers.

Ranchers and wilderness guides were also known to have used the CR-2 as added protection.

S-5 Heavy Blaster Pistol
The Security S-5 was a heavy blaster pistol produced by Theed Arms for the Royal Naboo Security Forces. This weapon was commonly used by members of the Security Officer Corps.

Royal Naboo Security Forces
The Royal Naboo Security Forces were the premier line of defense for both the Theed Royal Palace and the citizens of Naboo. A peaceful people, the Naboo retained only security officers and guards, rather than a true military organization.
Security Officer (Naboo)
Security Officers were the highest ranking group within the Royal Naboo Security Forces. Unfamiliar to true danger, they led the part-time and volunteer members of the security forces. Among their ranks is the captain of Security. They roughly numbered over 1,000 before the Clone Wars. They wore a maroon leather jerkin with a blue officers uniform underneath, and their weapon of choice was the S-5 heavy blaster pistol.
Naboo (pronounced /nə’bu/) was a planet that was the sector capital of the Chommell sector near the Outer Rim territories. It was a largely unspoiled world with large plains, swamps and seas. It was mostly known as the homeworld of notable historical figures who played major roles in the downfall of the Galactic Republic and the rise of the Galactic Empire, namely Padmé Amidala, Emperor Palpatine and Jar Jar Binks.
LL-30 Blaster Pistol
The LL-30 was a blaster pistol manufactured by BlasTech Industries. This blaster was known to be used by the bounty hunter Cad Bane, the freedom fighter Cham Syndulla, and the Ohnaka Gang.
Tatooine Blaster Pistol
The Tatooine blaster pistol was a model that saw use during the last decades of the Galactic Republic. Vilmarh Grahrk was known to carry one of these blasters, and at least one was seen in Mos Espa on Tatooine around the time of the Invasion of Naboo.

This pistol was similar in appearance to blaster models produced by BlasTech Industries, such as the DL-44 heavy blaster pistol and its variants. The blaster featured a sighting scope above its thin barrel.

Grahrk used his blaster during the hunt for Quinlan Vos on Nar Shaddaa, though Vos outsmarted the Devaronian by reversing the blaster’s power cell, in anticipation of Grahrk’s betrayal. Grahrk went on to aid Vos, and kept the blaster in use for years to come. He pulled the blaster on Vos once more during the Battle of Kashyyyk, though the Jedi Master again overpowered the Devaronian.

The DLT-19 heavy blaster rifle was a popular weapon produced by BlasTech Industries that saw use during the time of the Galactic Empire.
Blaster Carbine
A blaster carbine was a shortened variant of an already existing weapon, traditionally blaster rifles.
Blaster Rifle
A blaster rifle was a designation given to certain types of offensive rifle-shaped blaster weaponry, typically with a longer barrel than other types of blasters.
Senate Guard Ceremonial Blaster Rifle
The ceremonial blaster rifle was a blaster rifle used by the Senate Guards of the Galactic Republic.

This distinctive black-and-silver weapon was powerful and highly accurate in the right hands, and all Guardsmen were trained in rifle proficiency as new recruits. The blaster also carried a stun setting and a stun prod useful for crowd-control situations. Although designated as “ceremonial” weapons, these rifles saw increased use during the latter decades of the Republic’s rule. As of 19 BBY they were apparently capable of rapid-fire.

By the time of the New Republic, the ceremonial rifle had been phased out of service, though they remained available as collectors items on the black market.

Senate Gaurd
Senate Gaurd
The Senate Guard, sometimes called the Blue Guard and, prior to 22 BBY, informally known as the Coruscant Guard,[9] was a law enforcement agency of the Galactic Republic. Stemming from the Republic Senate Guardsman of old, the Senate Guard had a tradition that went back thousands of years, making it one of the oldest law enforcement agencies in service to the Republic. Its duties were to protect senators, the Supreme Chancellor, and other ranking members and buildings of the Galactic Republic government. It also served as a secondary police force for Coruscant in addition to the Coruscant Security Force. Next to the Jedi Order, the Senate Guard was seen as the Defenders of Democracy and symbols of peace and security on Coruscant. In law enforcement circles, Senate Guard investigations were well known for meticulous and excellent investigative and forensic work. The Senate Guard’s specialized unit, the Senate Commandos, were the best of the Senate Guard. When not conducting police investigations or taking on secret missions for the Republic government, the Senate Commandos took a leading role in the protection of dignitaries and government property during war time. With the establishment of the Red Guard to protect the Supreme Chancellor and the formation of the Coruscant Guard and its clone shock troopers, the Guard’s roles and prestige was diminished. By the end of the Clone Wars the Guard was completely phased out though briefly revived as the Imperial Senate Guard.
Senate Commando
Senate Commando
Senate Commandos were elite units in the Senate Guard, a Coruscant-based law enforcement agency that was responsible for the safety of government officials in the executive and legislative branches of the Galactic Republic. Like the more common guardsmen, Commandos functioned as bodyguards for senators and other politicians, but could also be used as security detail for enemies of the Republic, such as prisoners of war. During the Clone Wars, a galaxy-wide conflict between the Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Senate Commandos—along with the rest of the Senate Guard—were gradually supplemented and replaced by their Red Guard counterparts due to the machinations of the Republic head of state, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine.
Imperial Senate Gaurd
The Imperial Senate Guard was an elite unit of well-trained soldiers in the Galactic Empire. Stemming from the original Senate Guard of the Galactic Republic, the Imperial Senate Guard inherited the duty to protect senators and to accompany them as they traveled the galaxy. However, their true purpose was to ensure that the Imperial Senate remained loyal to Emperor Palpatine, the architect of the New Order.
Oppo Rancisis
Oppo Rancisis, an adept strategist and tactician, was a Thisspiasian male who abdicated the throne of his homeworld in favor of becoming a Jedi Master. Offered to the Jedi Order as an infant by his mother, the Blood Monarch of Thisspias, Rancisis was apprenticed to Master Yaddle, training to become a Jedi Knight almost two centuries before the Battle of Yavin. In 186 BBY, Rancisis’ sister was killed by terrorists, and he was offered the throne; he declined, instead preferring to continue on the path of the Jedi.

After achieving the rank of Master and being given a place on the Jedi High Council, Rancisis served as one of the Jedi’s top military advisors due to his tactical nous. He was also a member of and often led the Council of Reconciliation. Rancisis served the Jedi Council through the re-emergence of the Sith, the Separatist Crisis, and the Battle of Geonosis, and when the Clone Wars began, he became a Jedi General. Along with Yoda, Rancisis spent much of the war on Coruscant, organizing and coordinating Republic forces through the galaxy, such as during the defense of Kamino and the Battle of Zaadja, conferring with Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, and serving on the Council of Reconciliation.

Near the close of the war, Rancisis learned of a Separatist operation on the planet Saleucami; Dark Acolyte Sora Bulq was overseeing the creation of a cloned Morgukai “Shadow Army,” which Rancisis feared would prove a match for the Jedi. The Thisspiasian Jedi Master led a team of Jedi and three battalions of clone troopers to Saleucami, and besieged the planet for five months. Rancisis used his battle meditation to aid Republic forces during the conflict, to the point of exhaustion. Sora Bulq used this to his advantage, sending a group of Anzati assassins to slay Rancisis, but the Jedi Master was able to fend them off and defeated his attackers. However, the attack had in fact been a ruse orchestrated by Bulq, who used the distraction to enter Rancisis’ chamber unnoticed and stab the Thisspiasian in the back, killing him.

Assajj ventress
Assajj ventress
Asajj Ventress was a female Dathomirian Dark Jedi and a valuable Dark Acolyte to Count Dooku. Originally a Nightsister from Dathomir, Ventress was taken as a slave to Rattatak and trained as a Jedi Padawan by Jedi Knight Ky Narec. However, after Narec was slain, Ventress gave into her anger and began walking the path of the dark side; taking up the lightsaber of her dead master, she trained herself in the Jar’Kai style of lightsaber combat, before slaying all the warlords on Rattatak and installing herself as its ruler.

Eventually, Ventress’s actions came to the attention of Count Dooku, and after a test of her abilities, she became a commander in the Confederacy of Independent Systems. She had yearned to learn the ways of the Sith from Dooku and believed if she had proved herself worthy, she would become his apprentice.

During the Clone Wars, she became one of the most feared beings in the galaxy, notorious for her defeat of several Jedi. As the war continued, Ventress became the bitter enemy of both Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker and Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Shaak Ti
Shaak Ti
Shaak Ti was a female Togruta Jedi Master, hailing from the planet Shili, serving the Galactic Republic as a member of the Jedi Order in the final decades of the Republic Classic era. Joining the Jedi High Council in the years before the Clone Wars, she took up the ranks of General within the Grand Army of the Republic and was tasked with the oversight of clone trooper training on the ocean world Kamino.

As a Jedi Councilor, Master Shaak Ti was involved in many epic conflicts during the Clone Wars, including planning and engaging in the opening salvo on Geonosis. In addition, Master Ti was instrumental in the First and Third Battles of Kamino, where she helped to protect the future generations of clone troopers growing at the facilities, as well as during the Battle of Hypori, where she became one of the few Jedi to survive an encounter with the feared General Grievous. Master Ti was known to have dueled and defeated one of Count Dooku’s Dark Acolytes, Artel Darc, before which she served with distinction during the conflict on Brentaal IV.

Shaak Ti was assigned to protect the Jedi Temple in the final days of the war as the threat of the hidden Dark Lord of the Sith became clear. Stationed there during the initiation of Operation: Knightfall, Ti escaped with her life when the Temple and the Republic fell into the hands of the Sith Lords. Fleeing Coruscant and traveling from world to world, Ti finally landed on Felucia with the orphaned Padawan Maris Brood. Once on Felucia, Shaak Ti trained Brood and the local Force-sensitive Jungle Felucians for an inevitable confrontation with the Sith. Master Ti was eventually tracked by Darth Vader who sent his secret Sith apprentice, Starkiller, to kill her. Starkiller and Shaak Ti engaged in a vicious duel, ending when an injured Ti toppled into the Ancient Abyss.

Savage Opress
Savage Opress
Savage Opress was a Dathomirian Zabrak Nightbrother who became a Sith Lord alongside his younger brother, Darth Maul, during the Clone Wars. Originally a tribal leader on Dathomir, Opress was handpicked by the Nightsister Asajj Ventress to become her ‘mate’ and servant following her grueling tests of Selection, as part of her bid for revenge on her former Master, the Sith Lord Count Dooku. In accordance with their plot against Dooku, Mother Talzin and her Nightsister witches employed their dark magic to grant Opress fearsome abilities, placing him under their control. After murdering his beloved brother Feral in a display of loyalty to Ventress, Opress entered the Clone Wars as a Dark Acolyte, serving as an enforcer in Dooku’s Confederacy of Independent Systems. He executed missions against the Galactic Republic at Devaron’s Temple of Eedit and on Affa, slaying his first Jedi, Halsey and Knox, in the former campaign. Opress soon became a Sith apprentice to Dooku, who intended to use his new acolyte to overthrow his own Master, Darth Sidious, and claim control of the galaxy.

While Opress was subjected to brutal Sith training under Dooku’s charge, Ventress prepared to pit the monstrous Nightbrother against Dooku. Yet when Ventress’s plans for revenge culminated at Toydaria, she and her ex-Master found that neither of them could contain Opress’s impulsive nature and rage. In what became a three-way lightsaber duel, Opress overcame Ventress’s spell of control and also terminated his service to Dooku, further battling his way through Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker and Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi before escaping to Dathomir. After learning from Talzin of his kinship to Darth Maul, Opress rescued his weakened brother from the depths of Lotho Minor and brought him home to Dathomir, where Talzin restored his mind and body. Opress then became involved with Maul’s pursuit of vengeance on Kenobi, who had cut him in half over a decade ago on Naboo. Although Kenobi escaped from them with the aid of Asajj Ventress during a confrontation at Raydonia, Opress and Maul continued their plans for revenge and galactic domination, turning to the criminal underworld to achieve their needs.

By 20 BBY, Opress and Maul cut a swath through the Outer Rim Territories, battling through all civilians, bounty hunters, and Jedi Knights who stood in their way. The Jedi High Council sent task forces to hunt them down on Pleem’s Nexus and Moorjhone, with Kenobi always among the contenders. As part of Maul’s plans, Opress became a Sith Lord, but he was forced to become the apprentice—submitting to his brother, the Master—in accordance with the Rule of Two. While attempting to recruit Weequay pirates into their service on Florrum, Opress killed Jedi Master Adi Gallia, though he soon thereafter lost his left arm to Kenobi’s blade. Kenobi then chased Opress and Maul off Florrum, destroying their ship and leaving them stranded until they were discovered by members of the Death Watch, a group of Mandalorian warriors led by Pre Vizsla. Opress, Maul, the Mandalorians, and various criminal groups in the galaxy formed an alliance to overthrow the pacifist rulers of the planet Mandalore, though after the operation ended succesfully, Viszla and his men arrested Opress and Maul. After breaking free from prison with Mandalore’s incarcerated Prime Minister, Almec, Opress and his brother seized control of Mandalore from Viszla and his allies. Their rule of Mandalore, however, attracted unwanted attention from Maul’s former Master, Darth Sidious, who saw the power of the two Sith brothers as a threat to the dominance of his Sith Order. Sidious traveled to Mandalore and confronted the two brothers, fatally impaling Opress, who in his dying breath expressed regret for never having been Maul’s equal.

Pre Vizsla (pronounced /’pri vizlɑ/) was a male Human from Mandalore and was the leader of the Mandalorian Death Watch faction during the Clone Wars. Seeking to overthrow Duchess Satine Kryze and her pacifistic New Mandalorian government, in order to restore Mandalore to its widespread warrior ways, Vizsla secretly allied himself with Count Dooku and his Confederacy of Independent Systems. While governing Mandalore’s moon, Concordia, and maintaining loyalty to Kryze in public, Vizsla led the Death Watch in secret from several Concordian mining camp bases. The Death Watch’s terrorist attacks on Mandalore came to a head when Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi arrived on Concordia with Kryze to follow leads on the Death Watch. When Kenobi discovered the Death Watch’s secret base, Vizsla confronted them with several warriors and revealed himself as the renegades’ leader. After engaging Kenobi in a short duel, Vizsla forced him and Kryze to flee Concordia.

Vizsla conspired with Mandalorian Senator Tal Merrik to capture Kryze during her journey to Coruscant, where she intended to plead her case directly to the Galactic Senate, but Merrik was defeated before he could complete his assignment. Amassing an army of Death Watch troops on Concordia in preparation to take over Mandalore, Vizsla was forced to wait until his and Dooku’s plot to turn Mandalore against the Republic was completed. Vizsla dispatched a Death Watch assassin to Coruscant to kill Kryze, as her death would remove the opposition to the Senate’s upcoming vote to have Republic troops occupy Mandalore—an occupation which would allow the Death Watch to gain the support of Mandalore populace and “liberate” them from the Republic. However, the assassin failed to murder Kryze, and the plot itself fell through, with the Senate voting against occupying Mandalore. With this turn of events, Vizsla was forced to postpone his attack on Mandalore, as his forces would be unable to hold the planet without its people’s support.

At some point, Vizsla and his soldiers came accross an escape pod lost in deep space which held the stranded Sith Lords Darth Maul and his brother Savage Opress. Harboring a common hatred of Obi-Wan Kenobi for his actions against them, they planned on having their revenge after their planned conquest of Mandalore. Gathering an army of criminals including the Hutts, the Pykes, and the Black Sun, Vizsla and Maul attacked Sundari, allowing Death Watch to act as heroes to a desperate population after the Duchess’s forces failed to stop the criminals. With the support of the Mandalorian people, Vizsla ousted Satine and appointed himself Prime Minister and claimed the ancient title of Mand’alor. He also betrayed his Sith allies who were imprisoned but who managed to escape. Maul challenged Vizsla to a duel to determine the true ruler of the Mandalorians. After a long and difficult duel, Maul defeated Vizsla and executed him for his failures, before claiming his position as leader of the Death Watch.

Death Watch
The Death Watch—or Kyr’tsad in Mando’a—was a Mandalorian splinter group founded by Tor Vizsla, who opposed Jaster Mereel’s Supercommando Codex. Their primary goal was to return the Mandalorians to their ancient roots as warriors, and advocated the savage raider mentality of the past. The Death Watch fought Mereel’s True Mandalorians for primacy during the Mandalorian Civil War, manipulating a team of Jedi led by Master Dooku into wiping them out at the Battle of Galidraan. When the only surviving True Mandalorian, Jango Fett, escaped from custody, he hunted and killed Tor Vizsla.

The Death Watch scattered and seemingly disbanded until the beginning of the Clone Wars when they reemerged under the leadership of Pre Vizsla, targeting Duchess Satine Kryze of the New Mandalorians. Striking from their hidden base on Mandalore’s moon, Concordia, they orchestrated several terrorist attacks on Mandalore and Kalevala while garnering support from the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Eventually, when they allied themselves with Darth Maul and the Shadow Collective, they successfully took control of Mandalore from Duchess Kryze. Maul then killed Pre Vizsla, and the Death Watch splintered into two factions—those who gave their loyalty to Maul and those who refused to follow an outsider, led by Bo-Katan Kryze. When Spar founded the Mandalorian Protectors as Mandalore the Resurrector, the Death Watch went into hiding again, under the leadership of Lorka Gedyc, but resurfaced again during the Galactic Civil War, operating out of a base on Endor.

The Mandalorians—known in Mando’a as the Mando’ade, or “Children of Mandalore”—were a nomadic group of clan-based people consisting of members from multiple species and multiple genders, all bound by a common culture.

In their early years, Mandalorian culture revolved around battle, with war being a source of honor and pride in their community. The leader of the Mandalorians was known as the Mand’alor, translating to “Sole Ruler” and was rendered as “Mandalore” in Basic. Throughout their history, the Mandalorians were frequently allied with the Sith, perhaps most notably the Sith Lord Exar Kun, and held a certain distrust and general dislike for the Jedi Order. However, they would not hesitate to cooperate with the Jedi if a partnership between the two groups was mutually beneficial. In later years, the Mandalorians moved away from their obsessively war-like and conqueror ways and instead, most became bounty hunters and mercenaries, selling their skills to various individuals and factions in the galaxy. However, the Mandalorian Protectors sided with the Alliance to Restore the Republic ever since about 3 ABY and even continued to serve the Alliance of Free Planets, the New Republic, and finally the Galactic Alliance.

When Boba Fett took the title of Mandalore years later, they were approached by the powerful unknown empire of the Yuuzhan Vong to aid them as wealthy mercenaries, and while the offer was accepted (mainly because the other option would have been enslavement of the Mandalorian homeworld), Boba managed to feed information to the New Republic, and while the Mandalorians continued to fight for the Vong in the early Yuuzhan Vong War, they soon betrayed them and fought with the many other factions defending the galaxy. After the war ended, the Second Galactic Civil War began, and Jaina Solo, daughter of Han and Leia, came to Fett asking to be trained, given the Mandalorians’ famous reputation as legendary warriors against the Jedi. The Mandalorians ironically fought alongside the New Jedi Order, their former enemies in the crusades many years before and the Alliance-in-exile in this conflict. With training from Fett, and from others, Jaina killed her brother Darth Caedus, ending the war. Ultimately, in the span of over four thousand years, Mandalorians slowly changed from the feared Mandalorian Crusaders of the Sith Empires, to the elite soldiers of the Jedi Coalition and later the reorganized Galactic Alliance, fighting for a cause rather than mainly for credits and the destruction of worlds.

Mandalorians wore very distinctive battle armor, including helmets with T-shaped visors that covered the entirety of their faces, and would provide inspiration for the helmets of the Republic’s clone troopers. These helmets would eventually become strongly associated with the Mandalorian people.

Mandalore was the Basic transliteration of the title used by the the supreme leader of the Mandalorian people and culture. In its truest, native rendering as Mand’alor, the title meant “sole ruler” in the Mandalorian language of Mando’a. Originating with Mandalore the First, the mythic leader of the Taung warriors who went on to become the first Mandalorians, Mand’alor became the title passed down for use by the subsequent leaders of the people for generations after. Functioning as a combination of both king and warrior general, the Mand’alor was the closest to a head of state the wide-spread Mandalorian clans possessed, and in addition to holding the secondary title of Al’Ori’Ramikade—”Commander of Supercommandos”—Mand’alor was the de facto ruler of the Mandalorians’ conquered home planet, the eponymous Outer Rim world of Mandalore. Outsiders to the Mandalorian culture often respectfully addressed the Mandalorian leader as Lord Mandalore. The importance of the Mand’alor was reflected in the six tenets that outlined Mandalorian culture, the Resol’nare, one of which dictated that a Mandalorian rally to the Mand’alor when called upon.

For years, the position of Mand’alor was traditionally symbolized by the passing of the mask of Mandalore upon the death of the previous owner, but in later times this custom had faded into antiquity, and new Mandalores needed only the support of the people to ascend to the role. Numerous Mandalores also took to adapting descriptive epithets, in order to distinguish themselves from those who came before and after. Following the foundation of the New Mandalorians, the pacifist sect rejected the authority of the clan-chosen Mandalores, and instead appointed their own leaders in opposition to those who ruled the warrior clans. The Death Watch, in turn, appointed their own Secret Mandalores in opposition to both the New Mandalorians and the unaffiliated warrior clans. During this period of social division in the Mandalorian culture, the traditionally chosen Mand’alor of the clans became known as the “True Mandalore,” as a means of countering the claims of the New Mandalorian and Death Watch leaders. Throughout the history of the galaxy, at least twenty-one Mandalorians declared themselves Mand’alor, and met with varied degrees of success in their attempts to lead the Mandalorian people.

Togruta had rusty skin tones ranging in hue from red to orange, with white pigmentation on their faces[3], and greyish lips.[4] While not all have this feature, white stripes also adorned various parts of their bodies, including their chests, legs, backs, arms, lekku (head-tails), and montrals.[4] The pattern of stripes varied from individual to individual. This red and white pattern was a phenotype left over from their ancestor’s camouflage that helped them to blend in with their natural surroundings, especially the red-and-white turu-grass which dominated Shili’s scrublands.

Their heads bore two montrals, with three, and on rare occasions, four[5][6] head-tails, whose stripes were darker than those of the montrals.[4] Togruta had the ability to sense the proximity and movement of physical objects around them by means of their hollow montrals, which detected space ultrasonically. Young Togrutas’ montrals and posterior head-tail did not fully grow until adolescence, when their montrals become curved and their third head-tail grew to the length of their two main head-tails.[7]

As predators, Togruta had sharp canine teeth, which they used to painlessly kill thimiars, their primary prey, causing the creatures’ post-mortem death spasms. This gave outsiders the false impression that Togruta were venomous. However, Togrutas did nothing to dispel this misconception and even took advantage of the intimidating presence it gave them.

Satine Kryze
Satine Kryze was a Human female who was the pacifist Duchess of Mandalore and the leader of the New Mandalorians. Born on Kalevala, she led her reformist Mandalorian faction in a civil war against the Death Watch, a Mandalorian splinter group that wanted to preserve the Mandalorians’ traditional warrior culture. After the war, she helped rebuild Mandalore’s government into a pacifist society, bringing prosperity and renouncing violence. When the galaxy-wide Clone Wars broke out, she headed the Council of Neutral Systems, opposing both sides of the war and advocating peace for her people. This led to rumors that Satine was secretly creating an army for the Confederacy of Independent Systems, and the Jedi High Council sent Obi-Wan Kenobi, a Jedi whom Kryze had met and become close to during the Mandalorian Civil War, to investigate. Satine travelled with Obi-Wan to Mandalore’s moon of Concordia, where the remaining members of the Death Watch were located, where they were attacked by Governor Pre Vizsla and his mercenaries. Kryze and Jedi Kenobi understood that the Death Watch was in league with Count Dooku and presented a serious threat to peace on Mandalore.

She was the sister of Bo-Katan and the aunt of Korkie Kryze.

Kryze travelled to Coruscant aboard her starship Coronet, along with Kenobi and a group of Republic senators, in order to warn the Galactic Senate of the menace presented by Death Watch. However, during this journey, she and the other passengers were attacked by Separatist forces and assassin probes, and Kryze was taken hostage by Senator Tal Merrik, a man who was in fact a Separatist conspirator. After successfully resisting the invaders, Kryze’s crew arrived on Coruscant to talk to Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, who believed that the Death Watch was a military threat and that the Republic needed to intervene. Using a holorecording of Deputy Minister Jerec, the Senate quickly ruled and voted on a resolution to invade Mandalore. Horrified by this act, Kryze traveled with Kenobi across Coruscant, evading both assassination attempts by the Death Watch and pursuit by local authorities to find that the holorecording of Jerec was a fake. Kryze presented the real recording to the Senate, and the decision to invade Mandalore was scuttled.

As the Clone Wars continued, the Republic cut off trade routes to Mandalore, and the rise in smuggling and black market deals plagued Kryze’s world with corruption. With the help of Padmé Amidala, her friend and ally in the Senate, Kryze stopped an epidemic that was spreading throughout Mandalore’s population. Appalled by what she had seen on her planet, Kryze requested help from the Jedi to help expose the corruption on Mandalore. Kryze learned from Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano and a group of cadets at the Mandalorian Royal Academy of Government that Prime Minister Almec was secretly operating the black market on Mandalore. After being imprisoned by Almec and his guards, Kryze was finally rescued with the help of Tano and the cadets, had Almec arrested, and cleaned up the corruption in the Mandalorian government. Later, in 20 BBY, Pre Vizsla and the Death Watch returned to Mandalore with the help of the Sith Lords Darth Maul and Savage Opress’s Shadow Collective. While the criminals in the Shadow Collective of the New Mandalorian capital city of Sundari, Viszla convinced the people of Mandalore that only the Death Watch was strong enough to stop the menace posed by the Collective. Subsequently, the Death Watch and the Sith ousted Satine from power and assumed control of the New Mandalorian state. Kryze sent a distress signal to Kenobi, who attempted to free her from imprisonment, but she and Kenobi were captured by Darth Maul. Having been severely wounded by Kenobi twelve years earlier, Maul obsessively desired to see Kenobi suffer in retaliation. Maul drove his Darksaber into Satine, who as she died expressed her eternal love for Kenobi.

Senators were beings who represented their planet, system, and/or sector in the Galactic Senate of the Galactic Republic, Separatist Parliament of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Imperial Senate of the Galactic Empire, New Republic Senate, or Galactic Alliance Senate. They often worked alongside Associate Representatives.

They also acted as sectorial heads of state in the Old Republic, New Republic, and Galactic Alliance senates. Some senators alternately represented very powerful megacorporations and industries, such as the Trade Federation or the Corporate Alliance. During the waning days of the Old Republic, many senators had fallen to corruption and decadence, while others strove to uphold the ideals of democracy.

Other senators also served in the Bakuran Senate.

Speeder bikes, also known as hover bikes, were open-air repulsorlift vehicles, usually carrying one or two passengers. Speeder bikes emphasized speed and maneuverability over conventional speeders and were popular with thrill-seeking teenagers and military scouts. A typical speeder bike had a maximum altitude of 10 meters (32 feet) and could thus maneuver deftly over very rough terrain. Some companies manufactured extras like sidecars for speeder bikes.
